Anna Ainsworth opened her eyes wide and stared quietly at Jeremy Thompson beside her, wanting to see how he would respond because this was a question she had never contemplated, not even once.
Jeremy Thompson's brow was deeply furrowed. He hadn't expected Connor Osborne to bring this matter up, or more precisely, he hadn't even considered that Connor Osborne might discover it.
As he pondered how to respond, Connor Osborne spoke again, "I know you want to deny it, and maybe you'll say that you didn't even know Anna back then, so how could you possibly have done such a thing?"
Jeremy Thompson's brow wrinkle grew tighter, but Connor Osborne continued, "Don't deny it, there's no need to deny it. My grandmother has already had someone investigate this, and I have too. There's no one else but you!"
Anna felt Jeremy's grip tighten around her hand, the strength of his palm palpable, and he too felt the tremble in even the palm of her hand.
