They walked deeper into the grand place - whatever it truly was. The silence lingered and it feels dense and heavy as if the room itself was holding something.
None of them dared say anything that could disrupt their hearing. Their eyes moved constantly, scanning the vast chamber with sharp vigilance. Every corner might hide a trap and their step might trigger something.
And yet, minutes passed and still nothing.
Only the echo of their own cautious footsteps filled the space. There were no growls in the dark, shifting stones, or flicker of hidden eyes.
Just the cold and the silence for now.
Slowly, their shoulders eased, but just a little. The tension in their steps faded, though none of them truly let their guard down.
Their path took them along the base of one of the massive pillars. It loomed over them, its surface catching the beams of their flashlights.
Axel paused first, squinting. "Wait a second… is that… silver?"
