Chapter 425 - Arc 11.25: Myopic part 2

Looking at me, she says, "Understand this, you trashy little child. I care not about what you have done, what you can do, or what you will do. You are of absolutely no concern to me.

The only reason I am here and choose to humour your nonsense for even a second longer than I have to is because Avram decided to work for you. It's the only reason I have been here, and will continue to be here.

But if you're as nice as you think you are, I want you to go away and never show your face in front of me, because there is only so long I can keep up with a brat's whaling for attention before I lose myself. Get out of here, you utter pest."

Her words were ordered and neat, very few insults were scattered throughout them, but the calm manner in which she said them, the despairing look in her deep red eyes, and the shining pink in her dark hair all combine to give me one impression: disgust at the lifeform in front of her.

ΦOrb's hair shifts rapidly like an undercurrent, before eventually stopping on white, and he rushes out of the room and continues to run, even passing Mime, who tries to grab him.

Mime, seeing this, chases after Orb, and at that same moment, a hand knocks on the open door of the room Elia is in.

Looking up, she says, "Da-, Boss."

Walking in with a basket filled with food, Avram says, "It's been a while since I heard you that angry."

"You were listening in?"

"I thought it would be funny. Having some entertainment is great for an old man like me."

"It wasn't entertaining, it was annoying. Now show me what you brought for me to eat."

Dropping the basket of food packets to the rim in front of her, Avram says, "You know you didn't have to be so mean."

"I forgot when I became the boy's mother? Besides, pestering someone because you're bored is annoying."

"He didn't pester you because he was bored."

"You don't buy into that nonsense that he actually cared about me being lonely?"

"In general, I do believe he does believe that, but not today. I just think you struggle to understand the emotions of a little boy."

"How annoying. I forgot when I was responsible for caring for another person's emotional labour."

"I never said that, in fact, I think your reaction was perfectly justified. Orb was being far more annoying than he usually is."

"So why are we having this conversation?"

Rubbing Elia's head, he says, "You shouldn't present yourself in a way you are not. A little girl like you shouldn't be making enemies when she is so nice."

"If someone is foolish enough to hate me over what I have done, I wouldn't want to be friends with them anyway. You know the entire idea of friends is just a ploy that people use to manipulate you, girls wanting to talk and be friends with you when in reality they just want to use you.

Complimenting you to artificially raise your confidence, just so you can look like an idiot who thinks they are prettier than they truly are. Or they're trying to lower your guard so they can manipulate you into giving them massive amounts of money just to run off, or to make you do all of their hard work just so they can steal all of your accomplishments as their own. A bunch of whores!"

"And there you go on another one of these rants."

"It's true!"

"Let's hope the messiah brings you some friends this year, honey."

"SHUT UP! Also, I need more food."

Turning to look at the empty basket of food, Avram says, "I quite literally do not know where you put it all. You sure you don't have two stomachs?"

Glaring at Avram with a look far worse than what she gave to Orb, Elia says, "You really lack tact, you know that."

As their conversation comes to a close, Mime comes across Orb, who has curled himself up into a ball and is pushing his back against the wall behind him.

Moving up to him, Mime says, "Did the demon god hurt you? I am sorry, I didn't expect her to be this strong even for you."

But tucked into his legs with blue hair, and a furious glare, Orb says, "She is going to pay. She is going to pay by the time for this!"

-The next day-

With the style of a dog, Orb quickly moves from side to side, wall to wall, surface to surface as he tries to sneak back into the room he embarrassingly fled yesterday.

And pushing his stealth to the max, Orb moves into the room, and looks around to see that it still contains all of the binders as before, but is absent of any people.

Dropping down, Orb says, "It's perfect. Now time for my revenge."

Φ Moving over to the binders, I grab a bunch of them and plot them on the desk where she sits, and then looking at the chair which she sat on, I prepare to sit down.

But I quickly move the chair away, and instead make one out of ice to sit on, then opening the binders, I say, "Now let's look at what you have here!"

Looking at one of the binders, I say, "What the hell is this nonsense? It's just a bunch of words I can barely make out."

Stopping for a moment, I say, "No wait, isn't this the classical heroes song, the one the beastkin used. But it's even more formal than the ones people use today. If I wasn't for those memories I went through of learning from Setanta, I wouldn't be able to reach this."

As I scan through the book, I say, "Are these legal cases? But these dates there have been cases within the last few weeks."

Rubbing my head, I say, "That's impossible. As far as I am know, the entire legal system has been on shut down, and no one has reported these cases."

Flipping through the book as fast as possible, I say, "No, almost all of these have been settled, and just judging by the ink, these definitely weren't misdated."

Staring at the name, I look back through my memory and say, "It says Ciaran Ó Fogerty got in a fist fight with a human. I remember his knuckles were slightly injured last time I saw him. He has a habit of striking things when he is angry, so I thought it was just that, but if this case is true, it lines up."

As I reach the end of the book, I say, "And there are even proposals on ways to rewrite the laws?"

While my mind struggles to come to terms with what's in front of me, I stare at the back of the book, and I see some writing that says, "1346A?"

Turning, I look at the desk I am on and see 1346B, so I grab it and burst it open, then reading through it, I say, "Isn't this just the same thing, but in the regular heroes song? There is no way this is a beastkin text, so that means it must be translated?"

Turning my head, I see 1346C, and 1346D and opening them up, I say, "The saviours, and the heavens songs as well."

Stopping for a moment, I stare up at the room and say, "No way."

With my head burning bright red, I run around and start opening binders, saying, "There is no way this happened, it's impossible. She wouldn't, she couldn't have."

Putting all my attention to this task, I quickly skim through all of the binders arranged in piles that reach the roof, and as I do, I fully grasp all they contain.

Legal cases, economic polices and the history of the ones implemented, infrastructure, education, healthcare, Defence, everything is localised and translated into all of the different songs and embedded with clear labels and notes throughout.

Sitting down beside a pile of books, I say, "Orb, you big, big, big, big, big stupid idiot. How could you be so idiotic?"

Standing up, I activate my legacy over both of my fists, and with as much force as I can muster, slam both of them into my cheeks, and then I say, "IDIOT!"

As I heal, I say, "Now I know what I have to do."

-Break-

ΦThrough the corridors leading back to the room, both Elia and Avram walk forward.

"You sure you aren't a pig in disguise?"

With a giant smile on her face, Elia says, "I would smack you, but I am far too happy for any of this."

Under his breath, Avram says, "And twice as heavy as yesterday."

In a flash, Elia jumps up, turns around and slams Avram with a kick to the face, knocking him down.

Elia wears a white blouse with big sleeves that hide her arms with frills throughout the entire upper section of it. In the centre of her chest, she has the black and yellow strings that are usually on her head as a bow with a cheap blue jewel in the centre.

For her bottoms, she wears a large tiered high-waisted light pink jumper skirt, which goes up to just beneath her bow, and has four light blue buttons on it. The tiers of this skirt are separated by light blue frilled strands, separating the pink tiers.

Staring down at Avram, she says, "That's what you deserve for lacking tact. But as a holy girl I shall forgive a blood sucker like you."

"Grabbing Elia by her hair, he says, "If this is how you treat me, I wonder how you treat others."

With her eyes still next to closed, she says, "It sounds like you think I think of you as special."

"Because you do."

"Of course, but it still lacks tact to pretend I do."

Walking into the room, Elia stops, and as Avram sees this, he waits outside.

Staring into the room, Elia looks forward and in front of her, she sees Orb, but more than that, she sees all of the binder organised into plant-made cuboards, and sitting on the table in front of her is Orb.

"What is all of this?"

With black hair, Orb says, "I read through everything, and have started working on the proposals you have put out. I think the legal system of redefining punishment based on grouping the different beastkin into bins works well, but you have made it so certain crossbreds take more punishment than others."

"And when did I ask you to do such a thing?"

"You didn't, but I made the decisions to do such a thing. This entire time, you have been dealing with all of these issues to lighten my workload as I take care of the current crisis going around, and coordinate them.

Yet I came in here and tried to disrespect you despite all of the work you have done to help me out."

Getting up and slamming his head into the ground, Orb says, "The work you have done is invaluable, and I know you are only here because of Avram. But I promise I won't ever let you feel disrespected as long as you are here, you have contributed just as much to this country, and the work you've done is critical. I thank you very much, and I apologise for everything!"

As Orb's head stays on the ground, his heart's beat picks up as Elia walks over to him. Orb raises his head to look up at Elia, and as he does, he is greeted with a kick to the face!

Flying back into the desk, Orb holds his face, and Elia says, "Apology rejected."

Walking up to Orb, she grabs her cheeks and says, "Look at yourself, you're half asleep. You really don't know your limit."

Picking up one of the binders and showing it to Orb, she says, "And look what you did to all the precious information, there are spelling mistakes everywhere."

As Elia stares at Orb like he is a worm, he says, "Hey, I did this to repay you for helping me out; you don't have to be so mean."

"I did it because it was calling for me. The numbers, the details, they were crying out to me for the libraries to order them, and put them in a form even an idiot like you could read from. You were not a factor."

Orb gets irritated as she speaks, but then holding a binder, she says, "Though your work output and ability to memorise all of the information here is somewhat useful. You may actually be a helpful assistant."

Rubbing the back of his head, Orb says, "Really?" But quickly snapping himself back to reality, he says, "That sounds like you need my help?"

With a cold and emotionless stare, she says, "I request your help, doggy. If you d,o I will give you a treat."

"I am not a dog?"

"Don't worry, I will train you well." Rubbing his head, Elia says, "Who's a good boy?"

As Orb wholeheartedly receive it, he says, "I AM NOT A DOG!"

Elia merely smirks as she continues, which increases Orb's rage more and seeing this sight in front of him, Avram can't help but fall down to the floor laughing.

Looking at him, they both say, "What a weirdo."

"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT FROM YOU PEOPLE!"
