-Break-
Location: Abais Castle
Walking around within the castle, I look outside, and say, "The party has stretched even underground. I might need to send someone to walk around to ensure that no one gets hurt."
Sitting on my knees, Mime pulls my head and says, "Focus, the demon god is a few steps from here."
Listening in, I hear echoes throughout the area as if someone is writing. There is someone in the distance coming over here, but in the former office of the five ministers, there is someone writing away, and I think a few bodies on the ground are trembling.
"Is there actually someone here?"
Pounding on my head, Mime says, "I told you the demon lord!"
"Alright, alright. I will go investigate."
"Let me come to!" Mime says while shaking full of fear.
Putting her down, I say, "If things go bad, I will need some support, so wait out here first, and let me investigate."
I walk away, and Mime says, "If you don't come back, I will never forgive you!"
I wave at her and continue forward.
Whatever is here shouldn't be, or so someone would think if they haven't been keeping track of everyone within the country. But there have been a few people who have been missing since around a day after we liberated the beastkin.
Opening the door, I see a rather chaotic sight. On the floor are a couple of missing beastkin along with other workers from Skydust, then in the centre of the room, sitting on the table is Elia with a ridiculous amount of binders scattered everywhere.
ΦLooking up from her work, Elia stares directly at Orb, who has brown hair, then lowers her head back to a binder. "The toilets are the other way."
His hair turns Rosewood, then with green hair of excitement, Orb says, "Elia, what are you doing here? Don't you know today is supposed to be a great celebration for everyone?"
"I am celebrating. During a party, I should be allowed to do things that I want to do, right? Sorry, my good leader, I thought this would be alright, is it now?"
With Black hair of worry, Orb says, "Right, but won't you get lonely all by yourself?"
"No, I like peace and quiet where I get to be enveloped by my work, and don't have to deal with other side interferences, like a constantly changing light that gives me a headache."
Orb holds his hair as it turns red, surging with anger, and then with silver hair as his brain's logic overrides him, he says, "But your eyes are almost always partially closed, I doubt you could really see anything."
"It's because I have rather good eyesight. It truly is a curse, unable to experience the beauties of the world due to how much strain it puts on my eyes."
Putting her hands together as if she is begging, Elia says, "Oh, please, my wonderful king, would you allow me to wallow in my sorrow over this without infecting you with my sadness?"
With green hair, he says, "I can do you one better, I will spend time down here with you. Let me just go get a chair."
With a rosy pink and cute face, Elia sits up and says, "If you're going to do that much for me, let me at least grab your chair."
Getting up, Elia hops and skips like a gleeful fairy, and as she does, Orb's eyes remain transfixed on her with pink hair, but as she leaves his sight, Orb's hair turns from an embarrassed blue to nervous brown in a constant, never-ending cycle.
But it soon changes to a shocked Teal as Orb hears a large crash.
Running over to where Elia is, Orb sees Elia with her hands pressed against the floor in an almost comically distressed fashion, and with pitch black hair, he says, "What happened?"
Pointed to the right, Orb sees that all of the chairs have been destroyed and cracked against the ground, turned into little pieces.
"I can't believe I am such a ditz to break all of these chairs."
His hair turns Teal as he looks at all of the shattered chairs, but looking at Elia, whose face is moments away from bursting out into tears, he says, "Don't worry, I will just make a seat out of ice."
Clicking her tongue, Elia says, "Tch," as she turns her head sideways.
"Huh?"
With a high-pitched voice, she says, "No, don't worry."
As they both return to the table, Orb looks and gets a real feel for the number of binders within the room, and as they both sit back down on the table, Elia continues to write away, and Orb looks directly at her.
"What are you doing?"
"Work."
"Why are you doing it?"
"I want to."
"Is it fun?"
"Is existence?"
"Yes."
She looks at Orb, and says, "Are you sure you're not five years old? Your face still has a lot of baby fat, making it squishy and round."
"So does yours, and besides, we're the same age."
"I am older than you by a year."
"My birthday was given to me by Captivant, so I might be at least one year older."
"Did you know that as you age, you start to seek this thing called inner peace? It is a state of being happy with oneself and not seeking out others to bother and pester."
"I think making allegations of harassment is a giant bother to others, and pestered me quite a bit."
"What a small man getting caught up in such an event."
"I forgot when it became common for elders to lack responsibility."
"Don't you know, Orb, all adults are corrupt."
With pink hair, Orb says, "NOT AN EXCUSE!"
"So is this why you're here? Because you want an apology?"
"Nope. I would like to thank you."
"What, are you a masochist? You want me to frame you for more crimes? Ok, little piggy, let's get started."
Orb hair moves from pink to silver to blue, and then he says, "NO! I mean, for when you took care of me in Basileia. I never thanked you or apologised for puking on you."
"I don't accept."
"You see that bad attitude is why you're up here all alone. But don't worry, I will be your companion."
Sitting down back on his seat, Elia says, "Like I said, I am fine like this, so why are you here?"
"No one is happy alone."
"Huh?"
"I know how it feels to be all alone, and even if you get used to it, and find something to do, it will always feel like you're missing something. So as long as I am in this country, I won't allow people to be alone."
Elia starts to giggle, and Orb with bright blue hair says, "What's funny!?"
"You're such a sweet young virginal maiden, are you sure you aren't supposed to be trapped in a tower little girl?"
With lime hair, Orb says, "I am not a girl, and I am not a virgin!" His hair turns blue afterwards, and then he says, "Wait, no."
"So you're actually a girl?"
"NO!"
"Then that means you're a baby for lying."
"I didn't lie!"
Orb's hair turns silver as his thoughts go crazy, and in that moment, Elia reaches out her hand and grabs Orb, then as she plays with it, he says, "If you aren't that mean, you can teach me?"
Elia tilts up her head towards Orb, and he leaps backwards against the wall with his head yellow and blue.
With a smile of superiority, she says, "Maiden."
With burning red hair, Orb stands up, then moves up to Elia and, grabbing her chi,n he faces it towards her whilst smiling. "You seem to be forgetting who's the leader of this pack."
Elia breaks into laughter and starts slamming her fist against the table, and Orb shouts, "THIS ISN'T FUNNY!"
Completely composing herself Elia looks at Orb, switch between emotions in and instant and says, "You're right, it isn't. Nothing is funny about the fact that the man in charge and the most trusted person in the country, just made a sexual advance at a woman far weaker than him, with almost no allies, in a place far away from anyone who could implicate him for anything."
Orb starts to shake and then, slamming his head into the floor, Orb says, "SORRY!"
"And now the child is being loud."
Looking at all the unconscious people in the room, Orb asks, "Why are they all asleep?"
"I made them help me with this project, and they all lost energy."
"Made?"
"I forgot, children still struggle with language."
With Rosewood hair, Orb says, "You know I set up this whole farming event to allow others to socialise. Now that you have trapped them here, you have robbed them of that."
"Cry me a river. I needed help, and I requested it. If they didn't want to be here, they would leave."
"You happen to scare people."
"Other people's fear is not my moral crisis."
Sitting up and then dropping beside her, Orb says, "Well then, allow me to help with your project."
"I am fine."
"I can do any type of work."
"I am well aware of how amazing you are."
Orb's hair shifts from pink to gold, and he says, "So let me help out."
Orb inches closer to Elia, whose eyes are currently locked on the binder in front of her.
"No."
"Oh, come on, I happen to know a couple things."
"I am fine."
"Just give me a little peek and let me take over," Orb says as he stretches his hands to touch the binder.
Smacking his hand away, Elia says, "I said no."
Her anger takes Orb back for a moment, and then with red hair, he says, "What's your problem. I am just trying to help you out. You trapped all of these people here to help you, but for some reason, my offer is unwelcome."
"I get to choose the means by which I accept help, don't I? Now leave here before you mess this up, you child."
"Child. You keep calling me that, but look around. I have united all of these people together without any problems. I have liberated a land stolen by ice, I have fought foes stronger than me and have won, and soon I will make this place into a great country where its citizens will have no trouble. A child couldn't do any of that."
"I forgot when respectable people brag about their achievements, especially achievements they only gained through luck and inheritance. But why should I expect adult behaviour from a child."
Slamming his fist against the table, Orb's anger built so he says, "That attitude is why you're here all alone. I am sure that even if you had any friends, they would hate you in the end."
Turning to face Orb, Elia smacks him right in the face.
Φ As I hold my face, I allow the pain to shock in. First I am filled with shock as I try to understand how she was able to strike me in the face, second I feel embarrassment at the idea that she looks down on me enough to actually slap me, third I feel happiness that I was able to get her to express such emotions, and finally I feel anger as the unfairness of the situation falls on me and prepare to let her have it.
Turning to face Elia, I open my mouth but nothing leaves it.
In front of me, Elia sits with a disgusted look on her face, but more than that, both of her eyes are fully open. Her eyes are bright and red, and combined with her dark pink hair, it is a beautiful sight to behold, and as my eyes lock to hers, all I can do is stare into the deep red pits that grapple and devour me as I stare.
