Haruki had more cleaning up to do than he thought over holding a prime minister hostage. It was a good thing he had ckose relationships with very influencial people and before he spoke up, some people in the business and political world defended him.
They all teamed up forming a wall of protection around Haruki each supporting him in the case the way they knew best to. There were many unspoken rules in their world and the fact that Haruki was attacked directly without the government's support over a case he publicly allowed the police to handle, they all felt attacked by the government.
They might have imagined themselves in his shoes and considering the close relationship his grandfather maintained with those of his generation, they had to step in. It wasn't a favor they were offering him but they defended with the hope that all of them will do the same if they ever got into such a situation.
