At the break of dawn, Chen Xu awoke, his thoughts drifting to Yang Jinxia just next door, evoking a slight sense of peculiarity in his heart.
The sky was still dark, the world bathed in inky blackness. He heard some movement from his parents' room and decided to wait a bit longer before getting up, only to rise after they had left.
Without turning on the lights, he groped his way to the room where Yang Jinxia was staying. With a gentle push and a faint creak, the door swung open.
Upon switching on the lights, the room appeared somewhat cluttered. His mother had tidied it up especially, but there were too many things and no other place to put them, so it could only be somewhat organized.
Chen Xu approached the bed, observing Yang Jinxia as she lay there. She seemed much different in her deep sleep, an unusual calmness about her.
Her breathing was light, and her hair not a bit disheveled, as if she had maintained that position throughout the night.
