Before the establishment of the five realms of Heaven, Earth, Gods, Humans, and Ghosts, doctrines were diverse, and theories numerous. There was once a saying that simplified realms into three tiers:
"The highest cultivators ascend with form and spirit to the void, becoming Heavenly Immortals. The middling cultivators wander famed mountains, becoming Earth Immortals. The lowest cultivators die first, then shed their shells, becoming Corpse-shedding Immortals."
Here, what is referred to as Heavenly Immortals actually points to Earth Immortals. The so-called ascension with form and spirit to the void is essentially the same as ascending during broad daylight.
Ascending from the lower realm to the higher realm, from a low-dimensional world to a high-dimensional world—is what is called ascension. But why does it need to occur in broad daylight? Is it to bully ascenders?
Of course not.
