[Monday. I did not sleep well tonight. I trained as usual, but while cooking my breakfast, it was apparent my concentration was slipping. Sometimes my hands even started to shake. I burned the congee, which I am already rather proficient in. At least the rain is no longer as heavy. Time to move some heavy objects at the construction site.]
Nina is chewing nervously on her thumbnail while reading this morning's diary. In the meantime, Peter sits down beside her with a beaming smile on his face.
"Nina, I finally managed to get it out of Otto without alarming him!"
Startled from her thoughts, she looks confused at Peter.
"You know, Otto Huberman. He was not the one who sent you those e-mails."
"Thank you so much for the hard work, Peter. You are really a good friend. Then I can finally feel relieved about this situation. You did well."
"Of course. I am the best after all!" he pats his chest and sits a little straighter.
"Yes, the best kind of friend."
Peter acts as if he does not understand her intention and consciously ignores the heavy emphasis on the word 'friend'.
In the cafeteria, while on lunch break, the four friends sit together.
Beate asks Nina, "So Otto is now in the clear and not the creepy e-mail guy. He is tall and looks quite good. Also close to your level in his studies. Are you interested in him?"
"He has the same chance with me as Peter."
At that, Peter stares at Nina intensely.
"How can he have the same chance! I worked hard uncovering this information."
"That is because the chance is zero, Peter. I know you don't want to give up, but you have to realize we are only friends and there will be nothing more than this."
Seeing Nina nod at her, Clara sits down beside Peter and pats him on the shoulder while saying softly, "Don't worry, there are other girls out there, just waiting for someone like you."
Sniffling, Peter rubs his eyes with his sleeves.
"Yeah, I already knew, but did not want to give up. Actually, I had been ready for this for a long time. Still hurts though."
"I am sorry, Peter, I always took a soft approach because I don't want to hurt our friendship. However, it can't continue like this forever; it is also for your own good. Stop wasting time on me and find someone who likes you too."
Beate watches this long-awaited scene with wide eyes.
"What happened suddenly, Nina? I thought you would never say it this directly, considering your personality."
"Actually… I invited Ryu to come with me to the university library today. I don't want him to misunderstand my relationship with the guys on campus."
"Your coworker? You are really bringing him here?" Beate is quite surprised at this revelation.
"To be honest, since last week, the only day we did not see each other was Thursday. I like him very much, but I'm not sure if he likes me romantically at all. Still, it was time, and as I said, it is also better for Peter this way. I mean, just look at them."
The last words she whispers to Beate, as they watch Clara hugging and comforting Peter from the side.
"You're right, it was time. But why would he not like you? Is it similar to what Clara and I analyzed last time, that you're not compatible in terms of future prospects? It doesn't look like you would mind, though."
"Actually, I don't know either. He needs to use a computer to send an e-mail, so I brought up the computer in the library. Mainly, I want to let both of you have a look at him. You also wanted to know why I think he's attractive, after all. And if you guys don't see any massive red flags, I am prepared to invite him over to my house on the weekend."
"Well then, we'd better have a good look at this guy. Finally, I will see who can attract our campus belle! But if you're really not interested in Otto Huberman, maybe I'll give it a shot. I think he is quite a promising prospect."
"Then I wish you all the best! As Peter has laid the groundwork for you already, you should be able to have a clear attack plan in mind."
"Well, first of all, make sure he loses his infatuation with you. I don't want to end up like Clara, you know? So I will invite him to come with us to the library. Giving him the "my crush is close to a really handsome guy" shock treatment. After that, let's see how it goes."
"How come I am an obstacle to my own friends' dating lives all the time?"
"There is nothing you can do. It is your fate as a campus belle. Just be happy that we have no personal issues because of it, and everything is well."
"Yes, you guys are really good friends. I am very thankful to you three."
"No problem!" answered Clara while rubbing Peter's back slightly with a twinkle in her eyes.
"Nina, let's switch seats for now."
With this sentence, she takes Peter's hand and strides off to the classroom before he can react to his hand being held.
Beate and Nina look at each other with amusement and follow them.
[The construction work is done for the day. It appears that I won't be able to work on this site anymore. There is no longer a need for someone to carry things around all day. Time to search for another occupation. For now, I took a fresh shower, packed the note with the e-mail in my backpack, and went over to university. It has stopped raining by now. Oh, and the note is still carefully sealed in the airtight plastic bag. I can't risk this thing contaminating the university.
For the e-mail today, I will ask him to send me his personal phone number and request that the contact be kept confidential. I also need to ensure this message reaches Heinrich Lunge directly, rather than another agent or officer. Therefore, I will ask him to answer a question, together with sending the phone number.
Inspector Lunge has an eidetic memory. He also "types" with his fingers in the air, mimicking a keyboard, when "inputting" something into his memory or recalling information. It is somewhat similar to the memory palace technique. Instead of storing memories inside dedicated rooms in his mind, he inputs them like a computer code. With this method, his memory is almost perfect when it comes to conversations. Wait, isn't this a little like my diary? Only that Lunge is typing in everything he reads or hears all the time. Suddenly, I am really happy that I don't need to make weird gestures while writing my diary entry.
Back to the topic. I will ask him a simple question: "What did you say to Robert Ganz in Cologne during the investigation of the murder case, after he asked about your twitching hands?" If he can't answer this correctly, then it is not the man I want to establish communication with.]
Lotte: "This memory technique sounds quite cool. However, always moving my fingers through the air in a weird manner is a significant drawback. But maybe I should research this memory palace technique. Sorting memories into rooms and building a palace with them is kind of epic. Also, I would have loved my own diary with "Investigation Genius - Lotte Frank" on the cover."
Rung: "Ryu is really extremely cautious when it comes to interacting with police personnel. If I did not know better, one would think he was the criminal here. However, it is also incredible how he seems to know about a conversation that took place between two people with whom he had no personal contact, and which also occurred nearly a month ago. Was this world really depicted as a simple story for Ryu? However, he acknowledges it as reality as well. Such complicated thoughts are better left for philosophers; I am just a medical worker."
As the last bell rings, the criminal law students start to pack up and file out the door. Once again, Peter is grabbed by Clara, who sits beside him now after exchanging seats with Nina. They walk up to their friends only to hear Beate talk to Otto.
"Hey Otto, you became friends with Peter over the last few days, right? Do you want to join us in the library this afternoon? We are going to study together for the next exam of Professor Kronecker."
Otto looks between the smiling Beate in front of him and the other three standing by the side, watching the situation unfold with interest.
Peter is a little confused. 'Didn't Nina want me to investigate this guy, because he was suspicious? She even said he has zero chance too.'
Clara sees his confused face and chuckles slightly. Leaning against his arm, making sure to press her breasts against him a little, she whispers close to his ear.
"We had to look into Otto in detail because of this e-mail issue. Beate always thought he was quite attractive and smart, too. Now that the suspicion is cleared up, perhaps she has started to like him. So she is taking this chance to get to know him better personally."
"Oh, oh, I understand now.", Peter managed to answer while his mind was blank, laser-focused on the feeling pressing against his arm and the warm breath on his ear. His face started to get red, which delighted Clara immensely. She got even more proactive, hugging his arm and dragging him over.
"Yeah, Otto, why not join us. You also did get along quite well with Peter, didn't you?"
Looking confused at the sudden closeness between those two and the red face on Peter, he nodded.
"Sure, I also need to revise and am free today."
Nina, meanwhile, is staring at Clara in admiration.
'This girl, as soon as she is completely free to shoot her shot, she instantly acts this decisively. Very brave. I don't think I could do it like this. Just look at Peter, he is totally out of it.'
While walking to the library building, Beate engages in conversation with Otto, mainly discussing the previous lesson.
Otto, meanwhile, notices Nina walking a little faster than the rest and waving to someone.
As he looks up, he asks unconsciously, "Since when have we had such a good-looking guy on campus?"
At that, the group sees the happy smile spreading on Nina's face, calling over to the handsome young man, who is leaning against the wall with a backpack at his feet.
"Ryu! Sorry to keep you waiting."
He looks over at the five people approaching him, and a short moment of confusion is visible in his eyes before a dazzling smile spreads across his face, and he walks over to Nina and her friends.
[I was astonished when I turned around to Nina's voice just now. Who would have thought? Clara hugging Peter's arm so intimately? Beate chatting up Otto? Is this another one of the effects caused by my handsomeness? Because Nina fell in love with me, she directly rejected Peter and used me as a shield against Otto, trying to pass the opportunity to Beate? Not a bad plan. Peter still looks a bit dazed. Did it only happen recently? I see how it is. Well, no problem. I need to use the library computer two times, so deflecting two guys is quite fair.]
Reading the new entry in her mind while pulling Ryu by the sleeve, Nina blushes a little. Looking at this sight, Otto deflated a bit, which caught the observant Beate's eye, causing her to smile slightly.
"This is Ryu Seiya, he is my coworker and needs to use the library computer for writing an important e-mail, so I invited him to come here today."
"Hey guys, you must be Nina's friends?" he smiled charmingly at the group. After which, he holds out his right hand for a handshake.
"You must be Peter, right? Nina often talks about her reliable friend. I didn't know you had such a beautiful girlfriend, though. Did you two only get together recently?"
Peter shakes his hand in confusion. "Girlfriend?"
"Yes, we got together just today.", Clara's voice sounds from the side, startling Peter.
"I see! You look good together! I wish you two all the best."
"Thanks, I am Clara, by the way. Nina told us you were very handsome, and I always wondered what you look like. Now I finally understand how someone like Nina would give such a compliment."
"Haha, you flatter me. So, you're Clara, and this other lady must be Beate, correct? Nina always praises you for being knowledgeable, thoughtful, and logical. Nice to meet you."
She shakes his hand with a smile.
"So Nina told so many good things about us? We also heard quite a bit about the handsome and reliable coworker from her."
"So she thinks I am reliable? Thank you for this secret information.", he winks at Beate.
And finally, he shakes hands with Otto.
"Sorry, I don't think I ever heard Nina mention you. I am Ryu Seiya, a coworker and neighbor of Nina."
Hearing this, Otto forces an ugly smile on his face, while Beate gives a thumbs-up from behind.
"Hello Ryu, I am Otto Huberman, a transfer student, and Beate asked me to join them for studying today."
"Oh, Beate asked you?" he looks "shocked" from Otto to her and back again.
"You're luck is actually this good, not bad, Otto, keep it up."
Patting his shoulder, he secretly winks at the grinning Beate and turns back to Nina, who is watching this sequence in disbelief.
'Is this the terrifying effect of a high charisma value when properly utilized? Look at how he instantly gave Clara an opening to announce her claim on Peter. Also, destroying any fantasies Otto has about me while setting up Beate as a desirable catch. How did this happen? Did he slide into the good books of my two best friends just like that? Look how happy they are!'
At this moment, Peter, still in a daze, turns to Nina and asks, "So this is the partner you chose?"
Startled, she shoots Peter an angry glare.
"Yes, Ryu became my Aikido practice partner recently.", she says while patting Ryu's chest muscles, which causes him to raise an eyebrow while looking at her.
"Just look how sturdy this guy is! And still young too. You can throw him around on the practice mats without worrying about any damage. The perfect training dummy!"
With this joke, Nina thought she saved the situation, without her feelings being out in the open.
"Oh, so my fate is only being a training dummy? Is this why you walked me home with your umbrella Friday night? Because you were scared I would start to rust?"
Clara zeroed in on this statement immediately, with a twinkle in her eyes.
"Walking home together under the same umbrella. How cute, never thought you had it in you, Nina."
Blushing Nina waves her hands in front of her.
"Stop it, you guys. It just rained too heavily after work, and Ryu had no umbrella with him, that's all."
"Okay, okay. But you have to give us the full story another time. Let's get going, we have to study. And you two will also be late to your Aikido class if you don't complete your e-mail business soon."
"You are right, Beate! Come, Ryu, I will ask the librarian so you can use a computer."
Thanks to Nina's stellar reputation, she manages to talk the librarian into letting Ryu in for a short while, even though he is not a student at the university.
Nina joins her friends for a moment to give Ryu the privacy he needs, as he mentioned that it is an important e-mail.
After creating a new e-mail account, he is about to note down the login details so he won't forget them, but he suddenly facepalms.
[I suddenly realized that my low intelligence score may be more influential than I thought. Although I have already written that it does not affect wisdom, it seems to really constrain certain things. For example, I was about to note down my newly created e-mail login details. But why would I do that? I have this diary in my mind. Why would I need to write it down physically, where it can get lost? I even had the other note sealed into a plastic bag, taking it around with me! Why not just write the e-mail address down here and get rid of that cursed piece of paper?
I already wrote in one of my first entries that I will keep my future plans safely in here. But why didn't I think of something this simple? This is absolutely embarrassing. Luckily, no one knows that I could've used this method, but was too dumb to do so!]
Rung: "Ryu is really silly sometimes. Planning all those big moves in detail, but failing at such mundane tasks. It is kind of cute, but in a way also represents how high the pressure on him is."
'A little humor and self-criticism should always get a good response from the Copy Holders. But it is truly a little embarrassing to overlook such a basic function of this diary.'
Ryu shakes his head, smiling at himself while typing his e-mail.
Dear Inspector Lunge,
Are you still investigating the case of the so-called middle-aged couple killings? I know you were only invited as an adviser by the local police forces in Cologne. However, I coincidentally discovered the next target. You should also know that the death of Adolf Junkers and his comrades is not the real end to this series of murders.
I do have some information concerning Dr. Kenzo Tenma, who is a possible suspect for killing Junkers.
This information will be exchanged for your assistance.
Please reply with a phone number I can call tomorrow afternoon around 16 o'clock, as well as the correct answer to the following question. A question only you should be able to answer with the help of your mnemonic method.
What did you say to Robert Ganz in Cologne during the investigation of the murder case, after he asked about your twitching hands?
Respectfully, an Informant.
[The e-mail is sent. I am pretty confident it will be able to catch Lunge's attention, even though he is likely already working on another case. Now I just have to wait for tomorrow. Hopefully, he has time to check his e-mails today. Sadly, the "computer" he types his memories into with his method is not a real one and has no internet connection.
Now off to the hard part. I am determined to tell Nina some of the truth today.]
Ryu walks over to the group.
"Thank you for the help, Nina. I am done. Let's go, we're already late."
"Okay, guys, I'm off then. Good luck with studying.", Nina winks at the other two women.
Clara grins and waves her off.
"Good luck to you, too, Nina."
Peter looks a little confused after the two leave for their Aikido practice. He turns to his sudden new girlfriend and asks, "Clara, does Nina have a tournament today or something? Why would she need luck with Aikido?"
"Darling, don't you see how she looks at Ryu? She never looked at a man this way. Nina likes him, but this oaf acts like he doesn't notice, even though he is obviously quite observant of social cues. How else did he approach us in the manner he did in front of the library? Look at Beate and Otto; he managed to subtly hype up Beate while making it clear Nina was never interested in Otto. And now they are huddled together, talking deeply about some court rulings. Also, stop thinking about Nina so much. You are my boyfriend now!"
"Clara, I am sorry. I already noticed you looking at me often, but I always thought you only pitied me. I did not understand that you liked me. It must have hurt you a lot to see me chasing after Nina in such a hopeless fashion. Do you want to eat somewhere together after this study session? It will be my treat. We are somehow already together and know each other quite well, but I still think we should at least go on a dinner date on our first day."
Leaning her head on Peter's shoulder, Clara smiles softly.
"See, I knew you were not that insensitive. Yes, it hurt. But I did not want all our friendships to fall apart. I am just happy today happened as it did, with you accepting the state of things so fast, too."
"Don't worry, I am gonna make it up to you in the future." he hugs her lightly, and they still pretend to study for some time to not make it awkward for Beate and Otto.
"I did not expect you to set up my friends with their crushes perfectly like that. Is this what you look like when you actually try in social situations?"
"Don't make fun of me. In essence, it was just shooting some fantasies down, while subtly flattering two ladies and guiding the men's thoughts to them and thus away from you. Also, I can't let the best friends of my only friend have a bad first impression of me, right?"
At being called his only friend, Nina cannot suppress a small smile. She is happy about this statement, but also a little conflicted inside. She knows he will leave in the near future, and she has not yet decided what to do. First of all, she needs more information. Until now, she only knows roughly that a killer targets the Fortner family, and Ryu wants to prevent this murder.
"Let me hold your bag so you can start to braid your hair. We've already lost some time because of me, so I can at least help you carry stuff. Believe me, I got good at it at the construction site I told you about."
"Alright, here."
'Is it because my dexterity stat is so high on my status page? Many people should be able to braid their hair while walking. But with so many people to dodge on the walkways in the parts around the university? Is it supposed to be this effortless? I really want to question Ryu why my stats are so much higher than his own. There is not a single stat on my page that is not above average; it is quite suspicious somehow. Sadly, I cannot talk about the diary information, even to Ryu.'
The practice session concludes smoothly, with Ryu once again learning a great deal thanks to Nina's attentive training.
"I did not come with my scooter today, because it was still raining this morning. Do you want to walk home together?"
"Sure, that would be nice. We need to go in the same direction anyway."
After some time walking and talking about all kinds of things, they are nearing their destination. Nina stops and turns to face Ryu.
"By the way, I am sorry I threw you so hard in our first spar last Wednesday. If you hadn't learned from the little senpais how to fall correctly, your shoulder might have been seriously injured, because I instantly proceeded with a shoulder lock after the throw. You are working in construction to make ends meet, while also still being in the legal probation period at Lucky Pizza. If I had injured your shoulder, the consequences for you would have been quite heavy.
My mom told me I should invite you over for a meal on the weekend to apologize. So, do you have time this weekend? But of course you don't have to come if you do not want to!"
After the invitation, Nina is shifting nervously in place, waiting for Ryu's answer.
He looks at her and sighs deeply, which concerns her.
"Nina, I would very much like to. But before that, I need to come clean on something first. I am not a good person. The reason we're friends is that we met at your workplace, right? The truth is, I deliberately started working at Lucky Pizza to get close to you, knowing you worked there. I am so sorry for using dishonest means to get to know you, and I understand if you dislike me for it."
She is surprised by how directly he admits it to her. Nina naturally knew this all along and had no problem with it, and just smiled at him, which caused Ryu to be quite confused.
'Shouldn't she at least pretend not to know about it to cover up the diary copy?'
"Ryu, do you think you are the first man who approaches me with ulterior motives? There were even two guys in my last year of high school who bribed the same administrator at school separately to transfer them to my class and enforce a seating order that placed them next to me. What did you do in comparison? You were just there and worked. Did I not always come to you first? Except for making it possible to meet each other in the first place, you didn't do anything that could be called deception, didn't you?"
At this, Ryu realizes that Nina is right. He always thinks of himself as using evil means and that he is tricking Nina because he is so fixated on helping her. However, if you remove all the context, it is simply a case of coworkers becoming friends. Even though the process is accelerated heavily by the additional closeness of reading his thoughts in the diary.
He looks into her eyes that hold no deception and are as clear as the blue sky.
"I am happy you do not dislike me for it. Very happy even. But I did not approach you in this way because I was infatuated with you like those boys. My reason is very different. But you already told me in the last few days how you have a few psychological issues and are seeing a psychiatrist for them. The information I have is crucial for you and your parents, but I am also a little wary that it may affect your mental state, which you have worked hard for all this time.
Let's do it like this. Your invitation is an excellent opportunity for me to speak with your parents at the same time. I would also like you to invite your psychiatrist, Dr. Geitel, to join us. If the information I reveal is too disturbing for you, he can immediately step in to help.
Don't look at me like that. I know you're a strong woman, but I'm just concerned about you, okay? It will also make me feel more at ease. How about we meet at 10 a.m. on Sunday at your house? If you are fine even after I tell you everything, it is still not a bad idea to let Dr. Geitel have a meal to thank him, after all the time he worked with you."
Skeptically, Nina looks at him, but only sees concern for her in his expression. She sighs and nods.
"Okay, although it will be quite awkward to explain to my parents. Hey, your daughter invites a boy home for the first time, but she needs her psychiatrist with her just in case."
Ryu laughs as he imagines this weird scene that will unfold when she reaches home later.
"Oh, and it also gets a little weirder. I also need to invite another man along. The e-mail I sent today is to contact him. He will be able to help us with what I am going to tell you. I know you're curious about what could be so important. But please wait until Sunday."
"Yes, it is weird. I am a little scared, too. When you first told me so honestly about your approach to me, I did not think too much about it. However, it seems that everything is bigger than it appears. Maybe you are right, I will invite my psychiatrist when I have my next session tomorrow."
"Thank you for trusting me so much, Nina. It means a great deal to me. I may have weird reasons for it, but one thing is certain. It is all because I care about your well-being."
She blushes, looks away, and starts to walk again.
"Let's go then, no more of the heavy stuff for now. How about I tell you a bit more about my parents so you're prepared? What if you want to tell them something important, but my father already wants to chase you away with a broom for being too friendly to his precious daughter?"
'I know you always care for me, Ryu. I can see it every day in your diary, and it makes me happy. The lives of my parents and I depend on you, but this is not the only reason I am attracted to you.'
[Today was quite eventful. Now that I can no longer work on the construction site, I need an alternative source of income, as the cleaning job doesn't pay until March 15th. I already have an idea, but there are other, more important things to write today.
Peter actually came together with Clara. I am incredibly surprised! Although I mentioned it this afternoon, it still requires some consideration. This is an outcome that has already changed compared to the original work. In the original, there was no indication at all of Clara being into Peter. Perhaps because, in the story, Beate and Clara were only background characters, introduced solely for a single purpose. To talk with Nina Fortner about how romantic the e-mails were, and set her up on a date with Otto Huberman without her knowledge.
But this is reality, not a manga anymore. The people here are real. I need to make sure I will never forget that. Luckily, I treated this as a real world from the beginning, even with the weird stories in my mind as information about what the future may hold.
This realization also means my presence is already influencing the direction of this world. In the original, Peter continued to chase after Nina until the Fortner murders. This change does not seem to be enough to trigger the reward function of the diary, though. It does not matter. I am not doing this for the rewards, but because I just want to help after all.
If I only cared about the rewards, why should I care so much about how it could negatively impact Nina's psychological state? I only mentioned it here once, but she has no memories before she was 10 years old, and also suffers from horrible nightmares often. I want to be as careful as possible so Nina will be fine.
The same could be said of my plans to help Eva Heinemann soon. Although I have not contacted her yet, I am prepared to get her contact information from Heinrich Lunge. He should have it memorized inside his head, since he was investigating her father's death back then.
If I only cared about the rewards, it would be better for me not to contact her and watch her downfall. Because then there would be less interference with the plot progression. But I can't just stand by and watch her fall to such a state. A state where she has no home to return to, no money for a hotel room, and is even forced to try to sell her body to her ex-husband for some cash. No, I can't just sit idly by the side and watch this unfold. With me in this world, I will try my best to prevent this.
I have gone off topic a little. The main thing today is this: Nina did not hate me for approaching her through her work. I was surprised as she recounted some of the means other boys used to get close to her. It was funny but also a little concerning. What if one of those guys wouldn't take no for an answer and got violent? Luckily, nothing happened.
With her appearance and ability to attract others, but also turn down those advances without it turning into a conflict, I suspect her charisma stat would be around the same level as mine. Sadly, I am the only one with a System, and it doesn't have a scanning feature to let me see the status of regular people. That would be pretty useful, actually, especially in a fight. Knowing if your enemy has high dexterity but low strength would mean you would rather rush directly to grapple him instead of striking, and so on. But just like the picture function, I can only dream about it.
This is one long entry for tonight. It is clearly because I am very happy that Nina is still my good friend. Time to cook up dinner. Tomorrow I need to make money and have a phone call with Lunge.]
This diary entry provides the women reading the copies with quite a lot of insight.
Nina: "So this is the real reason he is approaching me so slowly and carefully instead of just working with Lunge to prevent the crime against our family. It is because he genuinely cares about me so much. Even to the point of involving my psychiatrist to be sure. Ryu, how am I supposed to confine my liking for you into a friends-only relationship? I am already slowly falling in love with you…"
Eva: "What?! How could something like that happen to me? I am the one who squeezed those guys dry for their alimony after they forced me to marry them! Never will I go back to one of these assholes! I cannot believe something like this is even remotely possible. Is Ryu making stuff up in his diary all the time?
However, he knows many inexplicable things… I really need to meet him. He wants to save me from myself. What did I do in the story to lose everything? Hopefully, my recent fight against my addiction helps with this. I am kind of scared now. But also oddly comforted? This young man has not even met me yet, but still cares more about my situation than these other bastards who married me. It feels weird, but good."
Rung: "So this is the reason. I always wondered why he is not just telling her. He has to prepare everything to ensure her mental health. But isn't this overreacting? He does not know that Nina already knows her family is targeted by a killer. And she seems to be just fine from the way he is describing her in his diary. Is he overprotective, or do I still not know everything? I don't know why this family is targeted, for example, or why she receives those e-mails beforehand.
However, it's nice to see that Ryu is such a good and caring person. I would really like to meet him sometime. Maybe he has some ideas to help with the discrimination problem my patients are dealing with."
Elsa: "Ryu is such a good man! Look at how caring he is! But I am still jealous of Nina Fortner. Luckily, he is thinking about taking me with him for training. Seeing this horrible scenario that befell Eva, I am kind of scared about what happens to me in the original work. Without a home and forced to sell her body. How terrifying! But luckily, Ryu is here. With him, the things in the original won't happen to me. I have to keep training so I won't slow him down."
Lotte: "It is kind of sweet how he handles the situation with Nina. I did not expect the cheerful woman he always describes in his diary to have such deep-rooted problems. Luckily, I was reminded again that the most obvious conclusions may not always be the correct ones. It's also wild to think that the rich and overbearing Eva Heinemann I read about while investigating her could fall to such a state with nothing left.
Reading this diary is sometimes really like a revelation. One man, alone, struggling against the Fate of the world itself. Yet he is still unwilling to compromise his inner kindness. I really want to meet him."
Ryu takes out his ingredients and ponders.
'This should show the Copy Holders how much I care about the people in this world and what kind of person I am. Also, it is the truth, except that I am slightly looking forward to the rewards more than mentioned. Really sad that I got nothing for setting up Peter with Clara or Beate with Otto. I suppose they may have ended up like this in the original as well, after Nina went missing? With Clara comforting Peter and Beate as absolutely rational women, snatching up a good prospect like Otto? So the original plot did not change enough, only accelerating it by a few months?'
