Pay back
It's been exactly 287 days since we last heard of any ripper and I couldn't care rather less. I can still remember my last hunt , as exciting as it was , it was the most difficult hunt and one wrong move I would have ended up dead.
I killed every last of them, as my fellow crew like to say but why do I still feel unsettled? Like it's not over yet. Why do I still feel them? HER
Mason, asleep, wrapped his hand around my waist. I watched as he slept peacefully, unaware of this world, MY world, a world I've tried so hard to keep away from him, from our daughter. They deserve better.
My mind still conflicted, I went down to the kitchen to make coffee, I guess that's what keeps me awake at night and not the demons of the night.
My phone beeped, Elena had texted.
"Crazy animal attack at Mapeson, bodies looks butchered"
Crazy animal attack huh? I would say RIPPER or to be more specific , ELFREDA.
She is trying to send a message, to me , declaring war I guess.
She is coming for me, I don't know how soon it will be, rippers can get thirsty with their revenge.
Suddenly my door banged, almost startling me. I guess she is here already.
I can hear her growl outside and with another bang, my door came down in pieces, revealing Elfreda.
I gasped and my coffee fell to the ground.
There she was, elfreda, my greatest nightmare, all covered in blood.
She walked towards me and I retraced my step. I was trembling, trying to act strong but at the same time vulnerable.
I ran to the drawer were the knives were kept to arm myself.
" that's pointless Nalia, I wouldn't do that if I were you" she said, maniacally,exposing her teeth, dripping of blood.
"You… i thought I killed you with the others" I said, my voice shaky.
"Are you really that naive Nalia , you would be foolish to think that a stake to the heart will kill me. I'm not a mere vampire."
"Then what are you? A werewolf? You've got to be kidding me?"
"I am neither of both Nalia, but, unfortunately I'm not here to answer your 100 questions "
She scraped her claws on the wall as she walked towards me, closing the distance between us.
I could hear my heart pounding as my tremors kicked in. My mind went to Carrie and Mason who were still asleep upstairs. Whatever happens here, I have to protect them, they don't deserve to die for what I did.
"What do you want Elfreda? If it's revenge just get it over with!" I shouted
"Revenge …oh sweet revenge " she laughed hysterically
"Oh what I want Nalia, is to rip your heart right out your body and feed it to the
birds" her voice dipped with rage.
Bending down, she whispered to me
"But then there is a certain someone that wants you brought back alive so as badly as I want to chop your head off, I can't, but I can make you suffer. How is little Carrie doing by the way?"
Fear crept over me"leave her out of this, please. I beg you"
" is that fear I see my dear Nalia? Good because that's exactly how you should feel"
"Please just leave her out of this , she is just a little girl elfreda. Please. I beg you"
" Did you think about the safety of your precious daughter before you went about chopping the heads of my friends, my family huh! You even had to kill my daughter!"
"I'm so sorry but they had to die, you have to die. you guys are an abomination, the darkest part of evil.
"And who are you to tell us that huh! Answer me!! ". Her hands went to my neck, choking me, I squirmed from the pain as her claws scraped against my neck.
"I'm gonna make you suffer and you're gonna feel the same way I felt when you chopped off the head of my daughter, Elizabeth ." She grunted , tightened her grip on my neck. Her eyes full of rage, so cold, with no sign of humanity.
"You won't dare touch my daughter because I'm gonna chop your head off just like I did your precious daughter. I still remember how she begged on her knees for her life to be spared" I was trying to provoke her, it was all a bluff.
"Shut up!!" She threw me to the wall
"Do you think you are any better? You're also one of us Nalia but you can't seem to accept that fact"
She pressed her claws in my chest and I cried out in pain. I coughed out blood, guess it was due to how hard elfreda threw me.
" what in God's name is going on here" mason stood, dumbfounded.
"Mummy?"
"Please mason, take Carrie with you and run, you guys shouldn't be here"
cried out
"Well, well, well, look who decided to join us to the party" she said as she let go of my neck
" the loving husband and the precious daughter. Welcome to the party"
Terrified mason rushed towards me
"Are you okay honey? What's happening?" He looked at me , eager for some answers .
"I need you take Carrie and run" I coughed out blood again, the impact of the hit really hard.
"Oh my God honey you're clearly not okay .Christ!" With seething anger,He took the knife beside me and turned away from me, towards Elfreda.
"Mason don't, she's gonna hurt you, please don't, just run. Please "
"I'm gonna kill you" mason grunted . He was panting
"I'll like to see you try" she smiled cunningly
Mason moved towards her, stabbing the knife directly into her heart. But it didn't kill her.I would know because I've tried that before.
Elfreda laughed one of those her maniac laughs, her laugh thundered . wall.
"You…what are you? How are you not dead yet? I made sure to strike your heart "
Mason stood, frozen in disbelief.
Elfreda laughed, hysterically, again. She is having so much fun .
"You might want to ask your darling wife that question " with that, Elfreda' s both hands landing on his head with so much force, she applied a great pressure causing him to shudder, like a seizure.
"What are you doing to him? stop pls" I cried out
"Daddy? Mum what's going on? "
" it's gonna be fine Carrie" I tried assuring her. My little baby.
I feel strong now, if I try I can loosen Elfreda's hold on mason and maybe defeat her, I've done it once.
Right now I don't have any useful weapon but thanks to the secret gene I've kept hidden, I can be as fast and strong as she is.
"Let him go Elfreda, this is between the two of us "
That's right, about time." She sent mason flying to the counter.
"Now let's fight "
I charged at her , unexpectedly, as I clobbered her across the jaw, making sure it has great impact.
It sure weakened her but in no time she was up again, this time with so much aggravated wrath. I'm no match for her , she is so much stronger now.
"Mason!" I tapped him gently
He was still weak from the hit but I need him to take Carrie out of here.
"What?" He said faintly.
"I need you to take Carrie and run as far away as possible from this place. Do you understand?"
"I can't leave without you Nalia, we're gonna fight whatever that is you hear me?"
"No! You're going to take Carrie and leave right this minute" I said, a bit firmer
"Honey no I can't.." he was caught off by Carrie.
"Mummy watch out!!!"
Before I could set up a defense, Elfreda gripped my shoulder with great tenacity, her claws piercing through.
"How dare you!!" Elfreda roared
"Mason please I beg you, take Carrie away from here" I could already feel the tear forming in my eyes.
"I beg you mason" he nodded as he carried Carrie , she tried restraining.
" I'm so sorry my love, I love you Carrie "
I smiled ruefully as I looked at those deep blue eyes for the last time, tears clouding my eyes.
"Mummy!"
That was the last thing I heard.
