"Big brother! Wake up already!"
Yuuta groaned as his sister's voice pierced his dreams. A pillow smacked his face, followed by a loud giggle.
"Hina…" he muttered, pulling the blanket over his head. "Do you have to be so loud?"
"If I wasn't, you'd sleep through your first day at Kurogan Academy," she said, arms crossed with a victorious grin.
Yuuta's eyes widened. "Wait—what?! I'm late!"
He jumped out of bed, tripped over his shoes, and scrambled into his uniform.

I'm nobody special—just another face in the crowd.
But everything changed today.

Yuuta raced through the city, dodging pedestrians and cars. The school gates were just about to close when he dove through them, landing on his knees, gasping for air.
"Made it…"
In the classroom, the teacher raised an eyebrow. "You're late. Name?"
"Yuuta Shiranami," he replied between breaths.
"Find a seat."
He scanned the room and slipped into an empty desk near the back. Next to him sat a girl with long black hair and piercing crimson eyes. She didn't even glance his way.
Yuuta tried to break the ice. "Hey, I'm Yuuta."
She replied flatly, "Why should I care?"
"Uh… well, we're desk neighbors. Wouldn't it be weird if we didn't know each other's names?"
She sighed, clearly not interested. "Fine. Shino Fuyuzaki. Happy?"
Yuuta smiled awkwardly. "Nice to meet you…"
She turned away. That went well…

The bell rang. Shino stood and left the room without a word. Yuuta followed a few moments later, hands buried in his pockets. He watched groups of students laugh and chat like they belonged. He didn't.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Shino beneath a tree, quietly reading.
She's always alone, too…

Later that day, in class…
Yuuta peeked over at Shino's notebook—her notes were immaculate. Not a single word out of place.
"Why are you staring?" she asked without looking up.
"I just… realized I'm not the only one without friends."
There was a pause. "It's easier that way. No one leaves you when no one gets close."
Yuuta blinked. Her words echoed inside him.
Flashback: His friends laughing… walking away without him… leaving him behind.
He lowered his gaze. "I get it…"

After school, Yuuta stood by the gate.
"Hey, um… do you want to walk home together?"
Shino didn't slow down. "I've got things to do. In Aomori."
She disappeared around the corner.
Yuuta sighed. "Worth a shot."

That evening, he visited a quiet cave—his sanctuary. A place filled with memories of his older sister, who passed away from cancer.
Flashback:
She lay in her hospital bed, frail but smiling. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you, Yuuta."
Tears filled his eyes. "It's okay. You were always my hero…"
Flashback fades.

At the convenience store, Yuuta overheard two women whispering.
"You hear about Aomori? Someone went missing again."
"It's cursed. That place was sealed off for a reason."
Yuuta froze. Aomori… That's where Shino said she was going.
Without a second thought, he dropped his groceries and ran.

The abandoned streets of Aomori were quiet. Empty. Haunted.
Then—BOOM.
A shockwave erupted from a nearby building. Yuuta raced up the cracked stairs. At the top, his heart stopped.
Shino stood—bloodied, breathing hard—facing a monstrous creature twice her size. Fangs. Claws. Glowing eyes.
"Shino!!"
She turned, shocked. "Yuuta?! What are you doing here!?"
The monster roared and slammed into her, sending her flying.
Yuuta ran to her side. "Are you okay?"
"You idiot… why did you follow me?"
"I heard the news… and I was worried."
She blinked, stunned. Someone was… worried about her?
The monster charged again.
"Run, Yuuta! You can't stop it!"
But Yuuta stood his ground.
The beast slammed its claw into his stomach. He coughed blood and crashed into the wall.
As he slumped down, something glowed from within his chest.
A crimson orb—an Ord—emerged, pulsing with power.
The monster staggered. "N-No way… That's the Second Ord. The Demon King…!"
Shino's eyes widened. "He… he has an Ord!?"
Yuuta opened his eyes. They were glowing red.
A voice echoed in his head:
> "Awaken, bearer of destruction."
Yuuta stood. A dark aura erupted around him. In a flash, he appeared in front of the monster.
"…You picked the wrong fight."
BOOM!
One punch. The monster disintegrated.
Yuuta grinned and summoned a sphere of crackling energy—pure destruction. He tossed it casually behind him as if bored.
Then—
Clap. Clap. Clap.
A figure emerged from the shadows. Silver-haired, confident smile.
"Well, well. Two Ord users in one place. What a sight."
Shino tensed. "Reiji…"
"I told you, call me Instructor," he smirked.
Yuuta blurred behind him, aiming a strike—too slow.
In a flash, Reiji appeared behind him and delivered a swift kick to the back.
Yuuta crashed into the wall. His red glow faded. He passed out.
Reiji walked over and slung him over his shoulder.
Shino hesitated. "…Are we really taking him?"
"We don't have a choice. He holds the Second Ord—the most dangerous one."
He turned to her with a teasing grin. "So? Is he a friend… or something more?"
Shino blushed and looked away. "He's nothing to me."
Reiji chuckled. "Sure he is."
A glowing teleportation circle appeared beneath their feet.
FLASH.
They vanished.
