Chapter 1 - THE FATEFUL ENCOUNTER

I sat in the car quietly as I fiddled with my hands, my mind still reeling from what happened.

My eyes flickered to my side to meet a man's gaze. He was a stranger but he saved my life just now. I muster up courage to speak to him. It was hard, he had an imposing and bland aura.

"Thank you" I said in a low, timid voice.

He hummed approvingly not even sparing me a glance.

I steal glances at him, his hands clenched on his laps like he was restraining himself though his face stoic.

"We are at the place sir" The driver says as he halts the car.

He gets out the car and walks to the other side of the car, opening the door. It was then it dawned on me that I had gotten home.

"Oh thank you….I could have opened it myself" I said with a smile as I got out of the car.

He just gave a low grunt and entered the car back. The car zooms off.

"That was…..weird" I muttered to myself as I walked into my shared apartment.

As I entered I was greeted with my housemate's worried face.

"Lucy!!!, what the hell happened!, You were on a call with me and then. Boom!, You cut the call abruptly at that" she said with a dramatic stare.

"Yuri, it was nothing too serious. It's just.....I was attacked…..by wolves" I said as I massaged my eyebrows.

"Oh my God!" She exclaimed before quickly collecting my bag from me and taking me to go sit on the sofa.

"Get me a chilled juice please" I said as I sank into the sofa.

She obliged and hastily brought it.

I took a sip before narrating what happened.

"Ok so ….you know I had to work overtime. Our boss would be coming soon so we had to do things meticulously. After I was done, I packed up and got ready to head home but my car wasn't starting so I just decided to get to the next bus stop and see if I could catch a bus home" I said and took a broke to take sip of my juice.

"I passed an alley. Don't blame me it was a shortcut, who knew that there were wolves there" I said, defending myself.

"Oh my!, how the hell did you survive" Yuri said as she leaned closer, fussing over me like some mother hen.

"That's the thing girll…I don't know. It's like I can't remember." I said as I finally realized that.

"I definitely remembered it in the car then. What the hell" I said as my hands raked my hair.

"Car? What car" Yuri said with a squint.

"The SUV that brought me here. A man, he saved me but ….I forgot how. Probably just PTSD, I guess" I said with a shrug.

"What stupid PTSD!!.... it's definitely not that...wait …. Could it be…ah!" Yuri exclaimed.

"Yuri not again. Your face tells me you must be having those stupid crazy thoughts" I said as I rolled my eyes.

"Wait, hear me out…they might be werewolves and he might have wiped your memory. Bingo!.... that's it" She said as she jumped off the sofa.

"Here we go again. I'm not ready for all this your crazy ideas" I said as I let out an exasperated sigh before getting up and heading to my room, I swear I could hear her still rambling. She just couldn't stop but I was too tired for all drama and dozed off.

The next day came, fortunately for me Yuri had an early morning gig. She's a model, even though she isn't that famous yet, she still gets gigs. I hastily did a little makeover and brewed a coffee for myself.

To my surprise my car had been delivered back home safely and it was repaired already. I guess…..I was..lucky? Or maybe Yuri helped me pass a call through to my car insurance company.

Last night I tried putting a call through but it was past working hours so no one picked. These people really need to stop that policy else I would just change to another company.

I hopped in the car and drove to work. I would be lying if I said I wasn't thinking about what happened yesterday and suddenly I started seeing some sort of sense in what Yuri said, it played in my head over and over but I quickly shoved it to the back of my brain.

"Argh, Lucy you are not crazy. I really need to stop talking to that girl" I shook my head quickly as I look for what to distract myself with and slowly my mind drift to the man I met yesterday. He was so damn gorgeous, I should have at least gotten his name. I wonder what he'd sound like, I began fantasizing about his voice and oh his hair how I wish I could rake my ….

"Lucy! What's wrong with you" I slap myself and stepped on the pedal. I got there and go straight to the department of finance joint staff quarters.

I sat at my desk. My face buried in the financial records, I was going over it again, just to be on a safer side. I couldn't risk it. Though I had never seen the CEO before and I did not know what his personality was like but with what I've heard he's quite..... ruthless

"Everyone the CEO is on his way here!!!!" Our supervisor rushed in saying as he urges us to be on our best behavior.

"Oh my God…. I think it's been like a decade since he came to this branch" the woman beside me says. We were only separated by a board.

"Miss Juliana please be quiet and also it hasn't been up to that, stop exaggerating" our supervisor snaps at her

"Oh. Sorry about that Mr Thompson" She said sarcastically.

Everyone just kept still. It was an unspoken rule not to interfere in their fight. Rumor has it that they were once married but they are now divorced. The reason? No one knows.

My fellow worker cleared his throat and said in a whisper "The CEO"

The sound of that made chills run down my spine. I mean he was known for his ruthlessness, some even claimed he wasn't human. We all get up, I was the only one who hadn't seen him before so I was curious, he had a trail of workers behind him and then I looked up, my gaze meeting his. The man I met yesterday was... my CEO?!
