Chapter 17: First Contact: A Clash of Worlds

INVENTORY: MARK II BOOT REPULSOR (PROTOTYPE), STEVE ROGERS' WWII DOG TAG, OLIVER QUEEN'S SPECIALTY ARROW, NATASHA ROMANOFF'S DISTINCTIVE HAIR CLIP, FELICITY SMOAK'S SIGNATURE GLASSES.]
The initial "first contact" through the Quantum-Encrypted Multiversal Comms Hub was, predictably, a glorious mess of suspicion, technological one-upmanship, and barely contained disbelief. My holographic projection remained stable, acting as a translator and facilitator, but the personalities on both sides were clashing with the force of two tectonic plates.
"Alright, Adam, this is where your 'Advanced Diplomatic Protocols' skill would be incredibly useful, if you had it. Since you don't, it's time to wing it and hope no one tries to punch a hole in the dimensional barrier. This is less about brokering items and more about brokering peace. Or at least, a temporary truce."
On the MCU side, Tony Stark was immediately on the offensive, his usual sarcastic wit sharpened by suspicion. "Alright, 'Adam Stiels,' or whatever your real name is. You're telling me there's a whole other Earth out there, with a guy who runs really fast, a guy with a bow and arrow, and a woman who can fly? And they're all… what, cosplaying? Because last I checked, the only other super-powered beings we know are aliens, gods, or gamma-radiated scientists. And they mostly just smash things."
From the Arrowverse, Oliver Queen, ever the stoic, countered with a grim intensity. "And you're telling us you have a literal god with a hammer, a super-soldier from the 40s, and a green rage monster? Sounds like a bad comic book. And who are you, anyway? Some kind of interdimensional SHIELD?"
"I'm Adam. The Broker," I reiterated, my holographic form shimmering slightly. "And no, Oliver, I am not SHIELD. And no, Tony, they are not cosplaying. These are real people, real heroes, from a real Earth, just like yours. And they are facing a very real threat, just like yours. The Dominators are coming. They are an ancient, highly advanced alien race, conquerors who have subjugated countless worlds. They are currently targeting Earth-1, the home of these heroes. And if they succeed there, your Earth is next."
I projected a simplified, yet chilling, visual representation of the Dominator fleet from my Multiversal Threat Assessment Data Package. The image was stark: massive, insectoid ships, a fleet numbering in the hundreds, dwarfing anything seen in the Battle of New York. The sheer scale of the threat was designed to cut through the bickering.
Fury, ever the pragmatist, leaned forward on the MCU side. "Dominators? We have no intel on a race by that name. Are you certain of this, 'Broker'? And what makes you think they'll come here if they hit 'Earth-1'?"
"My intel is absolute, Director," I stated, my voice firm. "And their modus operandi is consistent: conquer, then expand. They seek to exploit planets for their resources, particularly meta-human abilities. And your Earth, with its growing population of 'enhanced individuals,' would be a prime target. The reason you have no intel is because they operate outside your known cosmic sphere. Until now. This communication is not a social call. It is a strategic necessity. Your worlds need to prepare. Together."
Felicity, on the Arrowverse side, chimed in, her voice brimming with technical details. "The energy signatures for the Dominator fleet are massive, Director Fury! Adam transmitted some preliminary data. They're unlike anything we've ever seen. Their technology is incredibly advanced, capable of dimensional travel and mass-scale mind control. We've detected faint, long-range probes already. They're real."
This seemed to get Tony's attention. "Mind control, huh? That's a fun trick. So, what's the plan, 'Broker'? You just connect us and expect us to hold hands and sing 'Kumbaya' while the aliens invade?"
"The plan, Tony, is simple: share intelligence, coordinate strategies, and if necessary, combine forces," I explained. "Earth-1 has already had a few skirmishes with Dominator scouts. They have some first-hand experience. Your Earth has the raw power, the heavy hitters. Together, you represent a formidable defense. My role is to ensure the communication remains stable, secure, and to provide additional intelligence as needed. I can also act as a neutral party, a mediator, when your… unique personalities inevitably clash."
Steve Rogers, the voice of reason, spoke up from the MCU side. "If what you say is true, Adam, and these 'Dominators' are a threat to both our worlds, then we have a duty to work together. We don't have to like each other, but we have to fight for what's right. Director Fury, I think we need to hear them out. And prepare."
Fury, after a long, thoughtful pause, finally nodded. "Alright. A temporary alliance. For now. But I want full transparency, 'Broker.' Every piece of intel you have on these 'Dominators,' I want it. And I want to know everything about this 'Earth-1' and its… unique population."
"Agreed, Director," I replied. "Transparency is key. And to facilitate that, I propose a formal exchange of information. A 'data dump,' if you will, from both sides. Your existing threat assessments, your known meta-human populations, your technological capabilities. And in return, I will provide a comprehensive Dominator Threat Assessment Package from my own resources. This package will include their known weaknesses, their tactical formations, their command structure, and their psychological profiles. It will be invaluable."
This was my opportunity to gain a significant upgrade. I knew that a comprehensive data exchange, especially one involving the combined intelligence of two Earths, would be incredibly valuable to the System.
"And what do you want in return for that?" Tony asked, ever suspicious of a free lunch.
"For the Dominator Threat Assessment Package, and for my continued role as a liaison and intelligence provider," I said, looking directly at both teams, "I want something symbolic. Something that represents the combined efforts of both your worlds. A piece of advanced, non-weaponized technology from each Earth. Something that showcases your ingenuity, your unique approach to problem-solving. A piece of your future, if you will."
On the MCU side, Tony immediately looked intrigued. "Advanced tech, huh? Non-weaponized. That's a challenge. I might have something. A prototype. Something that could revolutionize energy storage."
On the Arrowverse side, Felicity's eyes lit up. "Oh, I have so many prototypes! Maybe a miniature, self-sustaining power cell? Or a quantum-encrypted data drive that can store the entire internet?"
"Excellent," I said, a genuine smile forming on my holographic face. "Consider it a down payment on a very important, very necessary alliance. Gather your data. Prepare your tech. We have work to do."
The first interdimensional conversation ended, leaving both sides with a lot to process. Suspicion still lingered, but the sheer scale of the Dominator threat, coupled with the tangible proof I'd provided, had forced them to consider the impossible.

A surge of new knowledge, a profound understanding of negotiation, persuasion, and conflict resolution. I felt an intuitive grasp of how to identify common ground, how to leverage shared goals, and how to subtly guide conversations towards productive outcomes. This was the skill I needed most for the challenges ahead.
