Chapter 1 - The wisdom of the mighty

A teenager in pajamas wakes up beneath the clash of two giant creatures.

As he examines the scene in front of him — not with surprise, but with fear — he sees the two giants still exchanging brutal blows, with no end in sight.

He starts flying, watching the scene from above, trying to figure out what kind of dream he's trapped in this time.

But then... something new.

Giant frying pan fall right onto his face.

> "What is this?!"

As frying pan fall on his face, he hears a voice calling:

> "Rin, Rin! Rin, wake up, you waste of air!"

He rubs his eyes in surprise. He hadn't expected his mother to bother waking him up herself.

> "Five more minutes..."

Still groggy, he gets out of bed, walks to the bathroom with heavy steps, stares at himself in the mirror for a full minute, brushes his teeth awkwardly, and heads to the kitchen for breakfast.

> "Hey... I'll be back at school next week. I promise."

> "You said that last week. It's been two months, Rin. They're not going to believe it's a 'sickness' anymore."

> "I know, I know, Mom. Just give me some more time..."

His mother looks at him with pity as he kneels before her, begging not to be sent back.

She smacks him lightly with a rolled-up newspaper.

> "Rin... you won't become a doctor if you don't go."

> "I'm aware of that..."

She sighs and heads off to get dressed for work, passing by the old drawings of Rin as a child — one showing him treating other kids, another of him tending to her.

She doesn't stop.

Rin crawls back into bed.

> "Not anymore. Not ever again."

Those are the only words echoing in his mind.

His forehead is damp with sweat, yet he clings to the blanket as if it were winter.

And slowly, he slips back into the dream

...

They see it now — a burning tower of light in the middle of a vast, shadowed land.

All the giants are converging toward it, struggling to climb to the top.

> "Huh... that's new."

Rin uses his ability to fly, drifting higher into the dream. He reaches the top of the tower and sees a sphere spinning violently, like a storm trapped in a crystal.

Suddenly, the sphere launches itself toward him and pierces through his transparent dream-body.

He gasps—

> "Ahh!"

He wakes up.

Looking right, then left.

No sign of his mother.

He drags himself toward the kitchen.

> "Mom? Mom!"

No response.

> "Looks like I have to cook alone... again."

He grabs a pan, cracks a few eggs, and cooks them lazily.

He slides them onto a plate and adds ketchup.

But the moment he takes a bite—

A surge of memories floods his mind.

Tears stream down his face, and he falls to the ground, choking, scraping at his tongue.

He stumbles to the faucet, turns it on, and rinses his mouth violently.

> "Damn... just as I thought. I still can't eat anything."

He opens the fridge, grabs an onion, and begins slicing it into tiny pieces.

> "This is the only food I can still taste."

As he chops, his mind starts to wander.

He begins tossing the knife into the air, catching it lazily.

But one time... the knife doesn't fall.

He blinks.

Looks up.

The knife is stuck in the ceiling of the dilapidated house.

He stares at it for a long moment — minutes, maybe — silent.

Then, as if pulled by gravity itself, the knife comes loose, falling with incredible speed.

It's headed straight for his eye.

But right before impact —

Time stops.

A voice echoes through the frozen air, deep and mocking:

> "Ridiculous human... You are truly pathetic.

But I'm glad you were chosen to serve my interests."

In a blink, time resumes.

Rin opens his eyes to find the knife stabbed into the floor, between his legs.

He stumbles back, gasping in terror, too shaken to understand what just happened.

> "I... I... I was sure I was dead..."

He looks around in disbelief that he has lived-as examines the knife stuck in the floor a thought flow throw his mind

"mom will kill me if I didn't Fix the floor"

He looks at his hanging jacket that he hasn't worn for a while-The stench still lingers on him... He decides to get himself ready a little before leaving the house. He puts on some perfume to hide his strange smell with his new shoes.
