Lyra Moreau surveyed the reunion venue with practiced indifference. The conference room had been transformed into a glittering celebration space, adorned with the university colors and graduation memorabilia. The din of laughter and conversation washed over her as she stood at the entrance, Silas Barrett trailing behind her like a stunned shadow.
"Dr. Payne, I am so incredibly sorry about what happened in the hallway," Silas whispered for the fifth time in as many minutes. His face had yet to return to its normal color after his revelation.
