Chapter 1 - Ch 1: A World On The Dawn

A World On The DawnMay 2nd, 2035A boy is walking down the streets of Kyoto, and he wonders to himself about the concept of love. He just got out of school, so he is still wearing his school uniform."Humans are mysterious creatures." He thinks to himself.

He walks over to a convenience store and thinks."Another pack of ramen, it seems."

Suddenly, the city is under attack. An announcement reads:

{WARNING, A SEKO-CLASS AUTOMORPH IS HEADING THIS WAY. FIND SHELTER OR EVACUATE NOW!}

The boy thought."An automorph has bypassed the GIC barrier? That's not very common nowadays, but it's only a Seko-class."

He runs out of the store, leaving the pack of ramen behind.

He yells. "EVERYONE I'M AN S-DIVISION SYNEJI ARTIST, I'LL HOLD THEM OFF."

Everyone listens to him and runs off. He thought, "People sure are easy to persuade. I guess it's too late to run now, and there's no way I will defeat that thing."

Suddenly, the boy looks over and a huge beast ravages through the street and locks eyes with him,"I guess this is the end. I had a pretty depressing and boring life; it is what it is. Not everyone can be the Main Character."

As the jaws on the automorph widen, looking like they're going to engulf him. He doesn't have a change of demeanor, nor does his heart beat any faster. His facial expressions were still.

Suddenly, as the Automorph's teeth touch his skin, it is split in half by a powerful and mysterious force. As both sides of its disgusting skin collapse to the ground, with purple blood disgusting out. The A-Division Syneji Artist Akito Koumiko stands abroad.

She looks at the boy and says."You almost died. Why were you just standing there?"

He sees Akito and suddenly thinks to himself,

"Holy MOLY, The Akito Koumiko? She wields the Inherent Syneji called 'Earth Bounds.' Which pretty much gives her geokinesis, this is so SICK. I don't know much else about syneji artistry, but I know her. I mean, I should say something, right?"

He starts visibly trembling as a sweat drop runs down his face, and he gulps.

"HEY, uh, Miss Koumiko."

He thought

"That voice crack is straight-up unrecoverable, I'm already selling."

Akito smiles, then says

"Interesting, have you considered becoming a Syneji Artist?"

He thinks,

"Wait, why is this happening? Do I have Isotonic Force and never knew until now? Is this my main character arc???"

Akito looks at him slightly and thinks to herself,

"I'm not sure why he's sweating so much, it's only 20°C."

What's your name?"

"Me? Uh, Sakatoro Zenatori."

Akito says

"I'm pretty popular in this town, so I'm not surprised you know my name. But I noticed that when I used the Syneji Method, the Venerated Sights of Divinity, you have some above-average levels of Isotonic Energy, you can train at Tokyo Regiment High School, and learn to manipulate it into Isotonic Force. You'll also discover your own Syneji. Only if you want."

Zenatori thinks,

"Alright, I'm not entirely sure what she's on about, but she said I have potential. I get to save people as well!"

Zenatori says.

"Yeah, sure, sign me up, I guess."

Akito says.

"Great! You'll just have to take the entrance exam. I'll need your phone number so that I can contact you on when you start and such."

"If you don't mind me asking, what is it tested on?"

"Oh, you know, basic high school academics."

"Ha, well, I was just wondering, I'll be on my way now."

"I'll see you soon, Sakatoro Zenatori."

Suddenly, in a flash of dust, Akito zooms away. Zenatori thought.

"Was that right there, pure speed? I couldn't even blink."

He then continues to walk down to the street back to his home.

He finally makes it into his house, and he thought.

"All things considered, 16 years old, and living in my grandma's apartment is pretty nice."

Zenatori checks his phone, and he has received a text 4 minutes ago.

"Tokyo Regiment Academy, Unknown Number: Come to Minamiazabu, Minato City, Tokyo 106-0047, Japan. Pack your stuff, 10:00 am!"

Zenatori thought to himself.

"How am I supposed to get there? That's all the way in Tokyo, and I live in Kyoto. It seems that I'll have to take the train."

The Next Day

Zenatori gets off the train and arrives in Tokyo. He looks around and thought.

"The beauty of Tokyo. This is truly my chance at a new life."

He looks at his phone and uses the GPS to walk to the location. He finally arrives and sees a massive school. The prestigious Tokyo Regiment Academy.

Zenatori gets to the gates and is instantly stopped by a guard. The guard says,

"Who are you?"

Zenatori says.

"I'm a new student, I guess."

The guard says.

"Oh, we rarely get newbies. Principal Hayoku-sama told me to look out for you. I'll get him here."

Zenatori thought.

"Hayoku..? Sama?"

Suddenly, a man with an all black suit walks out of the building. He walks toward the front gate and says.

"I take it you're a new student, huh?"

Zenatori says.

"What, I didn't even say anything-"

Hayoku abruptly cuts him off.

"What's your name, kiddo?"

"Sakatoro Zenatori."

Hayoku smiles.

"Well, Zenatori-kun, welcome to Tokyo Regiment Academy. I'll show you your dorm room and then you can get acquainted in class."
