I flinched as Father slammed another bank statement on the desk.
"Sixteen thousand dollars on curtains?" He spat the words like venom. "You think I won't notice when you drain pack funds for your little redecorating projects?"
I straightened my spine, refusing to cower. "The Silverclaw manor needed updating. As the future Luna—"
"Future Luna?" Father's harsh laugh cut through my explanation. "Is that still the fantasy you're clinging to?"
The mockery in his tone made my cheeks burn. Alpha Julian Sinclair had never been an affectionate father, but lately his contempt had become unbearable. Ever since Roman had started pulling away from me, Father had grown increasingly hostile, sensing his investment in my future crumbling.
"Roman and I have a special bond," I insisted. "One that transcends his temporary infatuation with that... rogue girl."
