Chapter 169 - Atonement in the Icy Depths

My lungs burned as I plunged beneath the frigid surface again. The Moonlit Reflection Pool's icy grip clawed at my skin, but I welcomed the pain. It was nothing compared to what Aurelia had endured.

"Alpha King, please!" Daniel's voice echoed across the water as I surfaced briefly for air. "You've been at this for hours. Your lips are blue!"

I ignored his pleas, filling my lungs before diving once more. The murky bottom of the pool had become a battlefield—my desperate hands searching through mud, leaves, and debris. Every failed attempt only fueled my determination.

Somewhere in this water lay the crystal pendant containing my daughter's ashes. The pendant I had ripped from Aurelia's neck and carelessly discarded.

My fingers scraped against the rough bottom, digging through the silt. Each time I surfaced, gasping and empty-handed, Daniel's expression grew more desperate.
