Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: System Online and a New Companion

"The 'Five-Three' series? What is this—am I taking an entrance exam in the One Piece world now?"

Shin grumbled as he tapped on the system's mysterious new entry.

['Five-Three' Skill Series: Five Core Abilities. Three Types of Haki. The essentials of survival in this world. You deserve it.]

"Oh? That generous, huh? Then I must be invincible! Let's open it up!"

[Ding! You have unlocked the 'Five-Three' Skill Series. Skills acquired:

– Physical Combat Mastery

– Enhanced Constitution

– Sea Affinity

– Grilling Proficiency

– Navigational Instinct

– Conqueror's Haki (Basic)

– Armament Haki (Basic)

– Observation Haki (Basic)]

'Alright, now what the hell are these?'

Shin scratched his chin and brought up the system panel.

Name: Shin

Age: 18+

Stats:

Constitution: 16

Strength: 13

Stamina: 16

Agility: 12

Spirit: 20

Skills:

[Conqueror's Haki – Basic, 1%]: Can intimidate a toddler into tears. Terrifying.

[Armament Haki – Basic, 1%]: Tough as a black eggshell.

[Observation Haki – Basic, 1%]: Can track a mosquito's movement within 18 cm. P.S.: 18 cm is more impressive than you think.

[Physical Combat Mastery]: Enables efficient body control and fighting postures.

[Enhanced Constitution]: Your body's built to handle real combat. Yes, even mid-battle sit-ups.

[Sea Affinity]: Immune to seasickness, comfortable in water, enhanced aquatic perception, and able to win the favor of sea creatures. P.S.: Life at sea just feels right.

[Grilling Proficiency]: You could open a top-tier food stall right now.

[Navigational Instinct]: You'll always know which way is south. P.S.: Zoro would kill for this.

Status Buff:

Limiter Broken: All attributes temporarily boosted 100%.

Inventory:

Supreme Speedy Rod

Overall Evaluation:

"You're a clown with potential. Your Haki is more bark than bite, your Armament is softer than toast, and deep down you're just here for the ride."

There was also a tab marked [Daily Tasks]. Clicking it revealed three training options:

[Daily Task 1: The Hero Regimen]

100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 10 squats, and a long-distance run.

Note: Inspired by a bald caped hero. Effective, but may cause unexpected hair loss. P.S.: The most romantic thing is watching you go bald together.

[Daily Task 2: Lazy Man's Training]

Just lie down and exist.

Note: A lazy man's cultivation method. Minor gains per day. May cause chronic back pain.

[Daily Task 3: Fishing]

Catch something every day.

Note: Strength increases with each catch. But beware—long sessions may lead to... hemorrhoids. P.S.: After holding this rod, you're no longer ordinary—and you'll never touch normal entertainment again.

As Shin felt the knowledge of new skills and techniques settle into his mind, he stared at the interface again, overwhelmed by how ridiculous some of this was.

"What even is this? Three types of Haki at 1%? Am I supposed to scare toddlers and make toast armor?"

He grumbled aloud.

"Physical combat and sea affinity—fine. But barbecuing and always knowing which way is south? What's next, system-san? A dishwashing badge? Open a kebab stand on the Grand Line?"

"And let's be real—just because I know where south is doesn't mean I won't get lost. Zoro would disagree with all of this."

Still, Shin knew there was nothing he could do but accept reality. It's not like he could uninstall the system.

He decided to skip the first daily task—for now, he'd leave the "bald caped training" to ascetics, programmers, and middle-aged men under hair stress.

"Luckily, I'm still handsome," he muttered, checking his reflection in the system.

Two eyes, a nose, a mouth—yep, everything still in place. Sharp brows, clean features, eyes full of spirit. His appearance was just like before. Maybe even better.

"At least I still look good. That counts for something."

He glanced at his inventory and saw the Supreme Speedy Rod.

[Supreme Speedy Rod]

Guaranteed to catch something with every cast.

P.S.: A fisherman never goes home empty-handed.

Shin finally felt a bit more comforted.

Closing the system, he looked down at an open coconut beside him and a few shells nearby.

"I'm starving. I'm gonna eat this coconut. Want some?"

"You go ahead. I already ate," Ace replied, busying himself with materials nearby.

"Need a hand?"

Shin wolfed down the coconut, stood up, and walked over. He didn't feel sluggish at all—probably thanks to the system's stat boost. In fact, he felt more energized than before.

Ace was trying to build a raft from nearby debris. As someone who'd lived a fisherman's life, Shin may not have caught much, but he did know a thing or two about survival skills. After all, fishermen can do everything except catch fish.

Ace turned his head with a grin. "If you're offering, that'd be great. I've tried a few times already, but they keep falling apart in the water."

Shin nodded, observing the pile of makeshift materials.

"Looks like we're short on parts. Let's gather some more first."

Ace agreed. After bundling up the materials he already had, he motioned to Shin.

"Come on. I've been on this island for a few days and scouted the area. I'll take you to the forest."

A little while later, Ace led Shin toward a forested part of the island.

Just then, a strange voice drifted from behind a tree.

"Ohhh, I really am an idiot…"

The two paused, glanced at each other, then quietly approached the sound.

Behind a coconut tree, they found a man in a green shirt and a face mask, sitting in the shade and mumbling to himself in front of a skeleton that had clearly been there for a long time.

Seeing the strange scene, Shin couldn't resist a jab.

"Yup, definitely an idiot. Especially talking to himself like that."

The masked man, still caught up in his self-loathing, muttered, "So even my hallucinations think I'm stupid…"

Then he froze.

"Wait a minute—WHO'S THERE?!"

He sprang to his feet, finally realizing someone was actually speaking to him.

"…This guy's not just weird, he's slow too," Shin whispered, stroking his chin. "Maybe he's been stuck here too long and lost a few screws."

Ace stepped out with his usual warm smile. "Hey! I'm Ace, and this is Shin. We heard your voice and came to check on you."

The masked man looked stunned. Clearly, he hadn't seen anyone in days, maybe longer.

Ace wasted no time. "Sorry to intrude, but my boat broke apart a while back. Could you help us build a new one?"

"WHAT?! No way!!"

The man clutched his head, devastated. He had just started to imagine being rescued, returning to town, getting married, having a peaceful life—and now these strangers wanted help building a boat.

"AHAHAHA! Looks like bad luck brought us all together," Shin said. "The sea's vast, but somehow the three of us drifted to the same remote island. Must be fate, huh, little brother?"

"I'm not your brother!" the masked man snapped. "My ship was wrecked in a storm… I got pulled in by the island's weird currents. I've been stranded here for three days!"

Ace laughed heartily. "Really? I've been here for six."

"WHAT?!"

The masked man's jaw dropped. He thought he had it bad—but someone had him beat.

Trying to lighten the mood, Shin smiled and approached gently.

"By the way, we never got your name."

The man mumbled, "I don't want to say it."

Ace perked up, intrigued. "Oh? Are you a wanted man? Fugitive? What's the story?"

"Too nosy. If I don't wanna say it, I don't wanna say it!"

Shin shrugged. "Fine, how about a pen name?"

"Wait, you write novels too?"

The masked man looked interested. Shin raised an eyebrow—this guy really was a character.

"Tell you what," the man added, "if I ever write a story, I'll use the name Ace for one of the leads. As for Shin… maybe I'll name a character Tom."

"Tom?!" Shin snapped. "That's my mortal enemy!"

Ace also shouted, "Hey! Don't just steal my name!"

The masked man ignored them and chuckled, clearly enjoying the topic. He had perked up a lot since they arrived.

Suddenly, Ace lit up with an idea. "If you won't tell us your real name, how about I call you... Deuce?"

"Throw your head!" the man shouted back, clearly annoyed.

"I don't care. I'm calling you Deuce."

"Deuce? Hmph. Better than 'Masked Guy,' I guess…"

Shin joined in with a smirk, "Yeah, much better than 'Nutcase.'"
