The Sky is buried in smoke and flame caused by the battle raging in the heaven. A giant armada of ships surround the Egg carrier. Knuckles and Tails aboard of the Tornado are engaged in an intense Dogfight. Tails dancing around the black clouds dodging bullets and missiles while disabling ships. They look like small meteor covered in flames falling from the sky. The Egg carrier anti aircraft turret turns towards the Tornado. Dozens of missiles spit out their barrels. "Brace yourself." Tails says as he takes a wide turn to out manoeuvre them. Amy screams and grips her seat while Knuckles smiles standing on the plane wing. Tails fly toward Eggman ships destroying them with the pursuing missiles.
"Great job Tails" Knuckles says with a laugh.
"Be more careful I almost fell." Amy says angrily
"We are not done yet", says Tails. A lone missile keeps the chase going. The Tornado loops around the sky taking dangerous turns between the Egg fleet. The missile only gets closer and closer. Knuckles looks at it and closes his hand into fist.
"That's it I'm going"he says, preparing to jump.
"Wait, stop!" Tails yells as Knuckles jump toward the missile. He disappears in a fireball. Amy gasps. The plane turns around as the flame dies out. His friend was nowhere to be seen. His heart sank. "Knuckes!" He screams at the top of his lungs. Something falls in the plane making it shake.
"Woah, that was awesome!" Knuckles shout and laugh.
"You stupid jerk" Amy says, hitting him " You made us scared."
"Try to not let him die, Tails." Silver says as he appears flying beside Tornado.
"Don't worry you can count on me" Tails says with a grin. Silver nods and flies away. On the way, he dodges some bullets and flies through a ship. Two more flank him. He uses his telekinetic powers to make them crash into each other. Below him in the Egg carrier surface, streaks of blue and Red light tear through an army of robots. Leaving destruction in their path.
"Chaos spear!" Shouts Shadow as four spear made of light dismantle a giant robot. A blue ball goes through the machine making it explode. Sonic wipes dust off his hands as the fireball grows behind him.
"They can't keep getting away with these" Eggman screams inside the controlling room, footsteps approaching from behind him.
"Should I intervene sir" a robotic voice says from his side. Eggman clenched his teeth.
"Go. Make it quick I am going to need you back here." Metal Sonic bow and exit the door. Eggman punches his dash board activating the Egg carrier speaker. "You won't be able to ruin my plans this time hedgehog." He says with a slight grin. " What I have built is beyond anything you have seen before." His laugh echos around the battlefield. Sonic and Shadow walks side to side surrounded by flames and metal parts laying everywhere. The Tornado engine is the only sound Sonic is focused on. " Yeah right cool cool. Real excited to take a look at your new science project Robotnik ." Sonic says rolling his eyes. " Hope it's worth all the toys you lost-." An explosion interrupts him. " And still losing. " Eggman laughs.
" You really underestimate me hedgehog. All you are doing is wasting energy on some pointless. Scraps. My real army remains ready for what's coming." He push a button and the top of the ship open to let out a giant metal sphere with the emerald inside of it. " You are about to witness the power of a god. I can manipulate time and space so effectively that I can travel through dimensions. I will be able to harvest power beyond this world, little Hedgehog. I am happy that you are here to witness my most ambitious work to this date. The Egg rift." The rings start spinning inside the sphere making it spark in electricity. The light of the sun disappears in dark clouds. Thunder roars beside the ships. The rings spin faster and faster. The electricity around the sphere creates an energy ball in front of it.
" That doesn't look good" Sonic says as the energy ball shoots a beam toward the open sky causing a small crack in space. With each second the crack gets bigger.
"We have to stop him." Shadow says clenching his fist.
" Won't have to tell me twice." Sonic responds hitting his palm with his fist. As they are about to charge something crash violently in front of them. Smoke clouds blind them. Red dots appear in the smoke.
" Stand down you rats. He walks through the smoke slowly revealing himself. " You won't be able to escape your fate, Sonic. It is inevitable for you to die by my hand. Resisting would be pointless." His black cape flowing behind him and thunder reflecting on his body.
" Unfortunately for you I have a bad habit of defying fate. But you are welcome to try." Sonic says with an arrogant smile. Metal grunt and charge toward them. The clash causes a shockwave powerful enough to extinguish the flames around them. They fight at such high speed that they look like blurs of light from Tails perspective.
" We have to do something" he says as the crack starts to look like a portal.
" Knuckles can destroy the machine," Amy says. Knuckles hit his fist together.
" That could cause a catastrophic result." Tails says, shaking his head.
" I could try to slow down the portal, » Silver says flying beside the plane.
" It won't stop it but at least it's a start. Silver floats in front of the crack and uses his telekinetic powers to try to close it. Thunder roars behind him, sweat pour down his cheeks. He fights through the mental pain of this dreadful task like his life depends on it. Behind him the Tornado took out enemy ships trying to stop his effort. Knuckles jump out the vehicle straight through one of the ships. Tails manoeuvre the plane so he land back on it.
" I don't think he was lying when he said we are just wasting energy." Tails says. " It's like there is no end to this."
" We have to keep fighting still or else we will have no chance stopping this" Amy says before throwing her hammer and destroying several ships. It ricocheted off an enemy vehicle straight to her hand. " I'm going down to Eggman ship. I will try to find a way to stop this machine. Knuckles come with me." She jump off the plane followed by Knuckles. Amy grab him by behind and they glide toward the Egg carrier. As they approach the massive ship, Amy eyes get stuck on the battle unfolding below her.
Sonic and his metal counterpart exchange blows at blinding speed while moving around the ship surface. Shadow teleports behind his opponent and kicks him hard enough to send him flying. Metal breaks his fall by striking the ground with his fist. As he lifts his head, Sonic is already sending another barrage of attacks. Metal blocks a punch, grabs his arm and throws him to a wall. The crash sounded like an explosion. Sonic barely has the time to take a breath that his opponent is already on him. He gets winded by a powerful punch to the guts that makes him gasp for air on the ground. " You little weakling. Why it is so hard for you to understand. I am the real Sonic. You are just a failed copy. Perfection cannot be replicated. Attempting such a feat only leads to. Disappointing results."
" Well…look at you." Sonic says trying to catch his breath. " Eggman…did a pretty good job." Behind metal he sees Knuckles and Amy sneaking in the ship. " But you are right. If you compare yourself to me. You will only be disapointed." He says with a grin. Annoyed, Metal lifts his fist to strike but it gets impaled by an energy spear. Shadow appears between the two of them and proceed to unleash a powerful blast that send the robot flying. " Always in clutch Shadow."
" Don't get too pumped up. We are far from done." Shadow says pointing at the portal getting bigger. Sonic smile.
" This is taking care of-"
" Unhand me you little wrench!" Eggman yells in the speaker. " Metal come back quick!" He flies through the cockpit window where he finds knuckles grabbing the collar of his boss. " Help me, robot!". Metal punch Knuckles and send him flying through multiple walls. Amy stands with her hammer in her hands. Her palms are sweating, her knees shaking. Metal takes one step forward and her one behind.
" Stay back tin can!" She shouts. He takes another step forward and her behind. Her heart drums in her chest. She adjusts her grips on the weapon. She blinks and a hand is wrapped around her throat. Her feet no longer attach to the floor. The hammer drops to the ground. Her vision darkens. "S..So..Sonic." A gust of wind whips her face followed by smoke and debris. Metal is no longer in front of her. The control panel is completely destroyed.
" You stupid Hedgehog! What have you done!" Eggman screams. He goes to the broken panel and tries to click the remaining button. Amy massages her neck and picks up her hammer. She slowly approaches Eggman carefully placing one foot in front of the other. As she is about to hit him, the ship rumbles.
The sphere becomes unstable and starts shooting the beam all over the sky. Tails barely manage to dodge it with the plane. A giant crack in the space surrounds the area. Silver, exhausted, falls from his position but Tails manages to catch him with the plane wing. Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles fight intensely throughout the ship against Metal. The Egg carrier violently shakes making them lose their footing. Through a huge hole that leads to the outside, Sonic sees the beam shooting everywhere uncontrollably. He clenches his teeth.
" Knuckles get me up there." Sonic says preparing to jump. Knuckles grab him, jump out of the hole and Throw him toward the Egg rift. Metal tries to pursue but Shadow teleports in front of him.
Sonic lands beside the machine shooting electricity everywhere. He dodge them while thinking of a way to stop it. " Well guess I have no choice." He gets into a ball and charges his energy. Electricity missing him by inches every time. " Here we." His body becomes pure energy surrounded by a blue aura. " Go!" He dashes at high speed at the base of the sphere shattering it. The machine rolls off the roof still producing electricity. The beam stopped shooting but the energy is now transferred inside the sphere. It crashes to the surface of the ship. The emerald accelerated beyond their original speed. Purple light dances around the machine and illuminates the sky. Everyone watches in horror this machine that is about to explode. Even Eggman is helpless in front of his own creation. Sonic looks down thinking of a way to fix this. There is no solution. The Tornado flying toward him.
" Sonic don't!" It's like he can read his friend's mind. Sonic smiles and gives a thumbs up. He jumps down the roof and runs towards the machine.
Eggman slams his speaker button barely half remains. " DAMN YOU SONIC!" His voice echoes in Sonic ears as everything flashes white.
His face feels hot and hard. Like he was laying in concrete burning on a hot summer day. His eyes slowly open. He hears mumbling beside him. The word sounds like gibberish. Then he manage to hear a few things
" Is he okay. Who is that? Never saw a mink like him." He jumps up.
" Tails! Knuckles! Amy!" He looks everywhere in panic. " Whe..where am I!" The bystanders stand back sparing weird looks at Sonic. " Sorry for screaming. I promise I am a good guy. I am just worried for my friends. He looks around and notices the unfamiliar place he is in. " I know I already asked that question but where exactly am I?" The people around look at each other sharing confused looks. A man finally steps up.
" Um mister blue Hedgehog. You are in Water 7."
