But Arya held it tight.
"There's this hot guy that just transferred to campus. Everyone's after him," she said.
"Yeah, clearly. The way you're smiling tells me you're one of 'everyone' too," Dave replied.
Arya realized she had been giggling too much.
She gave Dave a "you're stupid" look and went upstairs to continue texting Kelvin. He asked to call, and she agreed. Before they knew it, they'd been on the phone for six hours straight.
When they realized how much time had passed, they laughed, and Arya said she needed a nap, so they ended the call.
The Next Morning
Arya woke up feeling full of life. She couldn't explain the happiness, but she loved the feeling.
She got up, showered, did her morning routine, and got ready for school. When she came downstairs for breakfast, her mom and Dave stared at her in shock — she was actually ready on time.
"What? Why are you guys staring at me?" she asked, sitting to eat.
After finishing her food, she headed to the door.
"I'll be waiting outside, Dave," she said as she stepped out.
Dave looked at his mom, and they both laughed.
"What's with your sister this morning?"
"I don't know... but I'll keep an eye on her," Dave replied as he picked up his car keys.
When he got outside, Arya was already sitting in his car. He started the engine and drove off, occasionally glancing at her.
"Drive and stop staring at me, Dave," she said, catching him.
The rest of the ride was quiet, except for Arya constantly typing on her phone.
