Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Short and Powerless Night

The night deepened. At 2:20 AM, at the Seaside Park welcomed an unexpected visitor.

"Che… How boring. Not a single thug out tonight? Weren't they kidnapping me left and right before? And now, not even one shows up?"

Walking into the park, Tokikono Konata's words were laced with disappointment, as if the world had let her down.

No matter how you looked at it, even if she had somehow ended up transmigrated after dying, she was still just an ordinary person. Suddenly gaining superhuman powers—even if the powers weren't exactly what she had dreamed of—was enough to leave her too excited to sleep.

This wasn't like something seen on TV. It was something real, something truly her own. Since she couldn't fall asleep and was itching to try out her new abilities, and since testing them inside her apartment was obviously out of the question, she had decided to head out to an empty place to familiarize herself with them.

She even dressed up deliberately, secretly hoping that some clueless punks would show up so she could unleash her newfound power… Yep, this was the legendary "bait and bust."

Unfortunately, her entire walk had been perfectly peaceful, leaving her little scheme completely wasted.

"Hmm… The skill descriptions don't quite match, but I'm pretty sure this is Misaka Mikoto's Railgun from *300 Heroes*. And that icon on the card—it's clearly her baseball cap skin… But why are there two extra skills?"

Sitting cross-legged atop a shipping container, Konata fiddled with the card in her hand, deep in thought.

"I can understand the 'Awakening' skill—that's basically the trump card, the big move. This isn't just a game skill; it's the real deal—an actual Level 5 Railgun… But what's this 'Electric Shock Physique' thing?"

After a while, unable to make sense of it, Konata gave up thinking.

Standing atop the container, she pulled a coin from her pocket and balanced it on her finger. Her expression turned deadly serious.

"First, the Railgun…"

Blue-white electric light began to crackle between her fingers, tiny sparks flickering in the air as brilliant arcs of electricity gathered around her hand.

Weird… Why does my finger feel numb?

The thought flashed through her mind, but her focus remained entirely on her fingertips, so she didn't give it much attention.

"…And then the real Railgun—eh? Why is my finger turning yellow?"

Staring in confusion at her fingertip, which was beginning to char under the brilliant electric glow, Konata still didn't realize the severity of the situation. It wasn't until her daze was broken that she suddenly felt a sharp, burning pain from her finger. Instinctively, she raised her hand—

"Ugh…"

Looking at the nearby high-voltage cable that she had just destroyed with a single Railgun shot, Konata blinked blankly for a second. Then her expression changed drastically. Clutching her scorched finger, she turned and ran without a second thought.

Later, the entire area experienced a day-long blackout due to the electrical damage, but the culprit who had vandalized public property was never found.

"Good thing it's just a minor burn… I finally get what this 'Electric Shock Physique' is all about now…"

After buying some medicine from a 24-hour convenience store, Konata returned to her apartment, her face dark as she stared at her bandaged finger in mute frustration.

She wasn't particularly afraid of pain, but thinking back on what had just happened still made her shiver a little. After all, that Railgun shot had nearly blasted herself. She definitely didn't have the guts to test whether her electromagnetic field could withstand her own attack.

"For now, I can only safely use the standard Railgun. Using the real one damages my fingers. If it wasn't for this so-called 'Electric Shock Physique' reducing the damage, I'd probably be losing fingers with every shot. I wonder if the other skills are just as dangerous…"

Kicking her slippers off into a corner, Konata flopped onto the bed, too lazy to even change her clothes, and quickly drifted off to sleep.

And so the night passed without incident.
