Chapter 3 - The "Hero" of the Orcs

A large wall divides two climates. On one side is a beautiful and clean forest. On the other side is a barren desert, the ground slightly bloodied with axes and blunt weapons laying on the ground. A man skin a greenish color body buff with sharp teeth walks towards a group of corpses. He wipes off his research attire and leans down adjusting his glasses.

"Another pointless conflict," he sighs as he pushes some bodies to the side and rummages through others. He snaps his fingers twice and another man similar to him but slightly shorter comes running over. "Take these ones over here to the lab for me. The rest aren't anything special, just seem to be regulars," as the man starts to walk away he glances behind him seeing the assistant collecting bodies and moving them onto a wagon, behind that the wall and the few trees that have grown tall enough to be seen over the wall. "One day this wall will fall."

A young boy sits on an operating table and the same orc wearing the research attire enters the room. "Is it true that this place makes some of the greatest orcish warriors known throughout Bhic and even the alliance as a whole? Like Kang, wasn't she one of the ones who came here?"

As if annoyed or maybe scared the orc doesn't respond. "You thoroughly read the waver and understand what is to happen within this room correct?" the researcher grabs a flask filled with an oddly colored fluid and drinks it.

"Yes sir I read it five times and I'm ready," the boy's eyes shine bright with excitement.

With a long sigh the orc researcher grabs a needle. "Then would you like to be awake or asleep for the hard part?"

The boy's eyes seem surprised by the question. He hesitates a while before speaking, "Umm awake sir. I'd rather be awake." A loud and guttural swallow can be heard as he finishes his sentence.

The researcher sets the needle down and lets out a long sigh. "So you did not truly read the waver," he shakes his head and signals to another orc through a window. Moments later a body is rolled in. "Do try not to struggle too much." He puts a needle into the body extracting something oddly colored from it. "In your next life do be more thorough when you make a decision," with that the fluid is injected into the boy causing him to scream and thrash. Within seconds of his movements two men enter wearing masks and move to hold the boy down. With each struggle of the boy another pained scream comes as several other fluids are inserted into the boy. Some a dark green like the orcs skin some a lighter green other purple and some a plain brown. After a while a third orc enters wearing the same mask as the two holding the boy down handing the researcher a stone tablet. "Everything is in order. Take him to the waiting room with our other recent ones." the boy eventually passes out as his screams continue

Hours later darkness surrounds him the sound of breathing is heard all around him some seem painful some desperate other calm. As he attempts to feel around he touches bars cold thick metal bars he continues to feel around simply feeling more bars. Eventually an eye becomes visible, a light blue color completely different from the rest of the surrounding darkness. "Were you down on your luck as well? Did you also come here hoping that you'd be able to turn your life around?" The voice sounds older and more mature.

"No, I merely wanted to become a legend and someone people could look up to for hope just like Kang," the boy's voice is shaking. "What do you mean down on my luck? This place is good isn't it?"

A scoff is heard from the eye. "You were given an operation by Nagol," his tone suddenly shifts, becoming more mocking. "The great orc warrior creator. The savior of our people from Arago of Zelese. The one who will unite the alliance and create a true warrior ruled society," laughing can be heard from the eyes and all around. "He doesn't create warriors. He creates abominations and attempts to tame them, or just break there will till they are willing to fight."

The boy's breathing hastens "What no this can't be true. Nagol is the one who will allow us freedom. He will free us from fear and then free the Kud from their deal with Zelese."

"It's been years. The wall still stands and the Kud are still hunted by those arachnids. Where is the freedom he promised? Why do orcs of the Kud continue to be hunted for sport in return for "Protection"? Why are we in here?" the eyes disappear backwards. "Take a close look at your arm and tell me that Nagol creates warriors and not monsters."

Scales. Hard scales now cover the boy's arm. They look drakonic in nature. "What is this? Why is my arm like this?"

"Thank you everyone for coming to this month's gathering," Nagol stands on a stage, a large crowd cheering loudly. Nagol stands almost disappointed. "After continued failure from my plans I am choosing to lead one final attempt to gain our freedom and our ability to once again roam free. I will lead this battle gloriously and take the warriors I have created here and we will tear that wall down. Soon after we will free the Kud," without saying anything else he steps down from the stage and enters his lab. Around twenty assistants stand ready for him as he enters. "Allow me a word with them before they are loaded onto the wagons," with a simple nod the assistants let him pass.

With a torch in hand he enters the cage filled room walking to the center of it. "I'm sorry," the boy hearing this and recognizing Nagol's voice his heart skips a beat. The eye next to him widens in surprise. "I lied to all of you, I made you all believe you'd be turned into great warriors. I did no such thing. I made monsters. I made monsters because I thought I could change our destiny. What started as simply giving the strong some strength boosters I made turned into abusing the young mind to create monsters," the torch shows a tear falling down Nagol's cheek. "Now I stand before you all to tell you that you must all make a suicide charge."

With that he steps down and leaves the room quickly composing himself and wiping away any sign of emotion before he exits. Soon after the cages begin to move. After a while of being shaken by rough terrain they stop once again at the wall this time close enough to see holes in the wall. Nagol steps out from a wagon and walks towards the wall. An arrow is shoot from one the holes landing directly next to Nagol a piece of paper attached to it. As Nagol reads the letter the orc boy can now see the eye for all it's worth his other eye completely blackened his face dark with despair, oddly with a pair of feline-like ears atop his head. "My name is Zhab. We may as well know each others names before we die. So what is your name, boy?"

"Shoguk. My name is Shoguk," Shogun looks at Zhab as the sound of cages being opened can be heard from the nearby wagons eventually reaching their cage.

Outside shouts and pained screams can be heard. As the two of them exit their cage and are lead forward bodies all of them with different types of features they shouldn't have lay behind Nagol. "If you attack me you'll end up like them. You have no choice but to follow my orders," Nagol's voice seem to break for a second before he quickly regains his composure. "Now some of you have the ability to climb this call. I want those of you to climb into the holes where the elves are and fight your way to the main door and open it for us," without waiting for a response Zhab and some others are pushed forward. "Go now or else you shall be killed." As some start to run forward Zhab takes a few steps up before stopping. The sound of a scream can be heard behind him. At this sound he quickly runs forward.
