Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Out of the blue

Kasper was agitated. Staring at the Mitre on the pedestal he was wondering if there was any way he could change anything. He knew dealing with these high-profile scums won't be easy. Their lust for greed knew no bounds and they won't flinch at mass destruction of all that remains if that secured them more power. Yes, that's how much they believed in their wallet and status, that they could devour the whole world and create one anew from all their resources. Yet, he knew there was no other choice for him. He knew despite all the chaos the voracious beasts dressed up as humans wanted, that was the only way to maintain order.

The large blue jewel was jarring on the white velvet crown. Putting on his matching white velvet cloak and holding the Mitre in his hands he went on his way downstairs to the living room. A servant opened the large double door for him.

The huge skeleton stationed in the ceiling seemed extra menacing this evening. He remembers his father told him it was of a baleen whale, an extinct beast that once roamed the oceans. He didn't believe such large animal could roam the oceans that was entirely filled with transport tunnels or underwater mega-structures. He drew his gaze towards the figures sitting idly in the room.

All 5 of them had a white coat on, to signify they were one and yet they all had a figure standing behind them wearing a bejeweled armor resembling the signature color of their corporations as if they were some knights with a sacred oath.

"It has been a while since your dad has committed suicide, it's about time you officially take the role of the Pope." said Thomas MacGee, chairman of the Dyson Sphere Federation.

The other 4 didn't say anything as they knew the most influential entity in the room has already gives the verdict.

Kasper knew this day would come, he knew he wouldn't be a mere cardinal taking care of whatever his father ordered him to. He knew he would have to take over one day.

"Ever since the pope's passing, people have been doubting us. We do not want to go through another culling just to make them afraid. what a waste of resource.," said McGee's sub-ordinate clad in a black armor with red jewels.

He didn't want to believe it, but Kasper knew manipulating the masses was the only way to maintain order. "If McGees Dyson sphere can resume providing the energy then we can resume the work of our industries here and with your father gone, labor has been quiet and bad rumors are spreading," said Jameson Smith. Kasper hated him, being the chairman of human resource department Smith was the one directing frequent culling sessions in communities where an ember of rebellion might have sparked. Kasper knew rebellion was pointless, but even still maybe one day someone would be a god-send messiah to direct humanity out of the current course.

"Very well" said Kasper. "I shall don on my father's Mitra and claim his title officially'. All the figures present seemed content. "Was that a smirk on McGee's face?' Kasper thought.
