I placed my phone on the table, sliding it towards Evelyn. The screen displayed the investment portfolio I'd been managing for the past few months. A neat sixteen million dollars stared back at them—double the initial eight million Evelyn had entrusted to me.
"As you can see," I said calmly, "I've doubled your investment."
The silence that followed was almost worth all the insults I'd endured. Imogen's jaw dropped open, Liam's fork clattered against his plate, and Cameron looked like he'd swallowed something sour.
Evelyn lifted her gaze from my phone, her eyes wide with genuine surprise. "Sixteen million? Juliana, how on earth did you manage this?"
