I watched the scene unfold with mild disinterest. The officer beside me was still singing my praises about saving Daphne Beaumont, but my attention had shifted to the unexpected gathering in the police station lobby—Imogen, Liam, and Caleb Beaumont himself.
"Mrs. Ricardo," the officer continued, "if you could follow me to sign a few more papers for the official commendation."
"Of course," I replied, keeping my face carefully neutral.
As I turned to follow him, Imogen stepped forward. "Wait, Officer," she called sweetly. "Are we all here for the same case?"
The officer glanced between us. "You're all here about the Beaumont situation? Then yes, you can all come this way."
My jaw tightened. Perfect. Just what I needed—to be trapped in a small room with my sister, my ex, and the brother of the woman I'd saved.
