My mind was still reeling from Mrs. Ricardo's shocking words when Ivy grabbed my arm, her fingernails digging into my skin as she dragged me into the corridor.
"We need to talk, now," she hissed, her face contorted with rage.
I yanked my arm free, rubbing the crescent marks she'd left behind. "About what? The lies you just heard in there?"
Ivy's eyes narrowed to slits. "Don't be stupid. That old woman is senile. But you—you've been going behind my back with those company shares."
"What shares?"
"Don't play dumb with me!" She jabbed a finger at my chest. "Imogen told me everything. You're planning to take those 2% of Ricardo Group shares for yourself, aren't you? After everything I've done for you!"
I almost laughed at the absurdity. "Everything you've done for me? You mean the beatings? The starvation? Making me sleep in the storage room?"
