Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – The Death of a Genius

The shadows of torchlight danced upon the onyx columns of the throne room, flickering like echoes of an imminent tragedy. The murmurs of courtiers, hushed yet charged, reverberated under the high vaults, weaving a tapestry of tension and morbid curiosity. Upon the ivory-carved throne sat King Thalric, his figure rigid, his gaze distant. Tonight, his usually unreadable face bore the weight of an internal war.

At his feet, kneeling on the cold marble, was Kaelian. His gaze was lowered, hands bound, posture straight despite fatigue, wounds, and the certainty of a sealed fate. His eyes still burned with an untamed fire — a flame betrayal, chains, and even death could not extinguish.

Kaelian. A name once spoken with both awe and fear across the realm of Eldoria. Prodigy strategist, royal military advisor, a royal bastard turned national hero. And now, that name was cast into the flames of disgrace.

The Fall of a Strategist

Kaelian was no ordinary man. His concealed birth and meteoric rise could only be explained by a greater secret. In truth, he was not native to this world.

He had lived another life — in a realm without magic, yet filled with modern warfare, ruthless politics, and carefully masked betrayals. There, he had been a renowned military strategist. He had studied warcraft, psychology, geopolitics. He understood the value of a whisper, a silence, a false smile.

But even in that world, his brilliance was a curse. Betrayed by those he protected, executed in the shadows by supposed allies… He could no longer remember his last thought before death — only the sharp pain, and a strange awakening in the body of an unknown child, in a realm where magic shaped reality.

That world, Eldoria, had offered him a second chance. And he had seized it.

Over the years, he transformed his despised status as a royal bastard into that of a crucial strategist to the crown. He won battles without drawing a blade. His plans were webs in which enemies became trapped one by one. Yet with each victory, smiles turned colder, glances sharper. Jealous nobles, wary mages, and humiliated generals conspired in the shadows. And together, they plotted his downfall.

The Accusation: Forbidden Magic and High Treason

A heavy silence fell as the chancellor, robed in imperial purple, rose to the king's right. His voice cut through the assembly:

"Kaelian of Eldoria, you stand accused of practicing forbidden magic, of conspiring against the crown, and of aspiring to overthrow the king. What do you plead?"

Kaelian lifted his head. No tremor in his voice, no fear in his eyes.

"I have never betrayed this kingdom. I used knowledge from beyond, yes. Secrets learned, discovered, mastered — all for the good of Eldoria. But never against her."

The word beyond echoed like blasphemy. Whispers rose immediately. Dark magic. Occult arts. Forbidden studies of lost arcana — any one of these was enough to condemn a man.

Queen Virella stepped forward, draped in black as if mourning prematurely. Her gaze was ice.

"You broke our laws. You threatened order. Even your silence is a crime. Intelligence without loyalty is a weapon too unstable. You must be eliminated."

Kaelian met her gaze. He understood. Behind this solemn judgment were the queen's claws and her son's schemes. Prince Theor had long seen Kaelian as an obstacle. And now, they had ensnared him.

Memories of a Lost Life

As guards approached to drag him away, Kaelian closed his eyes. His mind fled to the past — to his first death.

He remembered strategic halls filled with maps, military briefings, the fake smiles of politicians. And then, the dagger in the dark. That moment of betrayal — more painful than the blade itself.

Then… nothing.

Until he awoke. In the mud, with rain falling on an unfamiliar face. A child of royal blood, but without name or honor. Rejected. Humiliated. Invisible.

He had survived through wit, patience, and intellect. He had sworn that this time, no one would stab him without consequence.

One Last Trick

As they dragged him through the palace's long corridors toward the outer court, Kaelian's hand brushed under his tunic. His fingers found a red stone pendant, etched with ancient runes. He had discovered it in a forgotten temple, guarded by lost spirits. He had never dared to use it… until now.

"This isn't the end," he whispered.

The artifact responded to his touch. A faint red glow, barely visible, pulsed in his palm.

He had no idea what it would do. Teleportation? A transfer of consciousness? Time reversal? But he would not die without playing his final card.

The Ultimate Betrayal

Meanwhile, in a hidden chamber of the palace, Queen Virella conversed with Prince Theor.

"Kaelian is too dangerous. Even in death, his name could divide public opinion. We need a simple story: traitor, executed, forgotten."

"Do not worry, Mother," replied Theor coldly. "I will make sure that not even his shadow disturbs our plans."

Their alliance was sealed. Their goal: absolute monarchy, unburdened by conscience.

The Execution

The execution square was black with people. A sea of silent faces, downcast eyes. Children were kept away. Nobles sat in their elevated tribunes. Soldiers formed a cold, unwavering circle.

Kaelian, hands still bound, was pushed toward the block. He looked up. The starlit sky seemed to watch him. One star gleamed brighter than the rest — just for a moment.

He wondered if he'd ever see the morning light again.

He closed his eyes.

The executioner raised his blade. A final whisper escaped Kaelian's lips:

"Remember me… not as a traitor, but as the one who saved you — even without your gratitude."

The blade cut the air.

But All Is Just Beginning

At the very instant the sword came down, a magical explosion erupted from the pendant. A crimson wave burst across the square, throwing soldiers and onlookers to the ground. The executioner was incinerated in a blinding flash. Kaelian's chains vaporized. His body levitated.

His eyes went blank. His heart stopped.

But his mind… was pulled into a spiral of light.

End of Chapter

Kaelian is dead… or was he merely seen dying?

This opening chapter sets the stage for a saga of reincarnation, revenge, and resilience in a kingdom where loyalty is rare, and genius is feared.

The questions left hanging tease the epic to come:

What is the true power of the pendant?Where — or when — will Kaelian awaken?Who will become his new enemies… or his unexpected allies? And most of all:

When will the genius drop the mask… to reclaim what was stolen from him?
