Emmanuella, Anthony's 14-year-old sister, began acting strange that night.
Not in a creepy way. Just… quieter. Her eyes were more focused. Her steps lighter. Her drawings more abstract. She didn't talk as much. But when she did, her words lingered.
"I think the sky spoke to me," she said once.
Anthony almost laughed, but stopped when he saw her face.
She wasn't joking.
He watched her stare into the sky longer than usual. The blue glow had dimmed, but hadn't vanished.
"I can feel people's thoughts," she whispered suddenly.
Anthony's heart dropped. "What?"
"Not like reading minds. Just… sensing things. Feelings. Anger. Fear. There's a lot of it in the city."
Anthony realized his sister had awakened too.
But unlike the others — she wasn't scared of it.
She welcomed it.
