Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A Chance Encounter with Su Yuntao!

As the saying goes, time flies like flowing water ten days passed in the blink of an eye. And on the morning of the tenth day, Wang Xiaotian successfully broke through to level ten!

"Ding! Mission complete. Reward granted: Most suitable hundred-year soul ring!"

The moment he broke through, the system's voice rang in his ears.

Wang Xiaotian immediately felt a surge of energy within him. His soul power roared to life, and a radiant yellow soul ring rose beneath his feet…

So this is a soul ring? Looks pretty nice.

Character Panel:

Name: Wang Xiaotian

Level: 11

Soul Bones: None

Soul Rings: 100-Year Soul Ring (First Ring - 480 years)

Equipment: Mysterious System - Extremely Mysterious and Incredible

Evaluation: Without the system, wouldn't survive past Chapter 3

Well, at least the evaluation improved from not surviving Chapter 1 to Chapter 3. Progress is progress!

Still… System giving me a nearly 500-year soul ring and only one level up what's up with that? A ring like this should at least push me to level 13, right?

Is it because the soul ring came from the system, so it's stingy on the boost?

Probably… maybe… yeah, probably.

This system should be renamed: the Stingy Beyond Belief System.

Also, it seems the Immortal Body martial soul doesn't improve through soul rings. Wang Xiaotian felt this soul ring was bound to the Heavenflame Sword. As for the passive Immortal Body soul, he'd have to research that later.

First, time to test his soul skill!

Sunset Slash… what a lame name. But with a 400+ year soul ring, it shouldn't be too bad, right?

No hesitation! Wang Xiaotian summoned the Heavenflame Sword.

With the soul ring, the sword had visibly changed its fiery red hue grew denser, and the blade seemed slightly longer.

Sunset Slash!

Sword in hand, he activated his first soul skill and slashed!

A fiery red arc of light burst from the sword, radiating terrifying heat with unstoppable force!

The cave wall in front of him was left with a deep ten-centimeter gash, and the area around it still radiated intense heat Wang Xiaotian could feel it from five or six meters away.

Nice skill. Nice sword. 5 stars, would recommend.

Now that the mission's done, time to get some real food. He was sick of fruit—so bland. Also, he needed to figure out the current timeline. Was Tang San born yet…?

Suddenly, the system chimed again:

"Ding! New mission issued: Become Senior Brother."

"Objective: Go to Nuoding Academy, meet the Grandmaster, and find a way to become Tang San's senior brother. Note: You may not officially become the Grandmaster's disciple."

Now this was an interesting quest. But even without the system, Wang Xiaotian had no intention of taking the Grandmaster as his teacher. Sure, his theory was top-notch, but his character? Meh. Calling him a scumbag wouldn't be wrong.

But becoming Tang San's senior brother? That sounded fun. The protagonist's senior? Heh…

If he couldn't become the Grandmaster's disciple, he'd just call him "teacher" out of respect. After all, anyone who teaches you something can be called a "teacher."

But had Tang San already become his disciple?

No time to waste! He had to hurry before ending up as Tang San's junior. Senior brother status was the goal! Grrrr…

Okay, first things first food. But how was he going to get any money?

Wang Xiaotian fell into deep thought. Even a hero could be stumped by a lack of coins. Robbing someone? Yeah right any random Spirit Hall member could easily end him.

Wait - Spirit Hall!

He remembered that when Tang San got his first soul ring and became a soul master, he went to register at Spirit Hall and even received some gold soul coins.

Now that he was a soul master too, couldn't he register and get some coins as well?

Say no more! Wang Xiaotian had nothing to pack anyway he arrived here empty-handed.

But first, a proper meal.

As he stood at the cave's entrance, he spotted… a rabbit!

"Little bunny, don't run! You're too cute let me eat you!"

He quickly dashed down the mountain, soul power fully activated in hot pursuit.

Five minutes later…

"HAHAHA! Grilled rabbit meat, here I come!"

After devouring the rabbit, he drank from a nearby stream and used its reflection to check his appearance.

Sure enough he was ten years old again. He looked even better than in his previous life at that age.

Slightly long black hair, delicate features, dressed in a sleek blue outfit, and eyes far too deep for someone his age yep, certified little heartthrob.

With his stomach full, Wang Xiaotian set off toward a nearby village.

He didn't know the way to the local Spirit Hall branch, so he planned to ask the villagers. The town was sure to have one.

The villagers of Douluo Continent turned out to be very friendly. When they learned he was a soul master, they even arranged for him to hitch a ride in an ox cart heading to the town for supplies.

The village was quite far from the town. The cart ambled along for half a day before they arrived. Wang Xiaotian thanked the driver and hopped off.

Huh? Soul power fluctuation!

Just as he was about to ask for directions, he sensed a strong soul power nearby much stronger than his own!

He looked in the direction of the source… and that soul master was looking right back at him.

It was a young man in his twenties, with sharp eyes, strong brows, and a handsome face. He wore a white uniform with a black cloak, and a fist-sized (Soul) character on his chest a clear sign of someone from Spirit Hall.

"Oh? An eleven-level soul master at such a young age."

The youth approached Wang Xiaotian and spoke.

Finding a soul master this young in a small town? Quite rare.

"Hello there, kid. You seem to be looking for something. Need help?"

He assumed that at this age, the boy must either come from a powerful family or a soul master academy.

Of course, eleven levels weren't particularly rare even six-year-olds awakening with full innate power weren't unheard of. But still, being at this level at age ten was pretty decent.

As a soul master of Spirit Hall, it was his duty to help when he could. After all, Spirit Hall was supposed to oversee and support soul masters across the continent.

"Hello, big brother! I want to register as a soul master do you know where the Spirit Hall is?"

Wang Xiaotian put on his most innocent smile.

No way he was going to say, "Hey, I know you're from Spirit Hall take me there!"

"Oh, I see! Haha, well, the Spirit Hall here doesn't have the authority to register new soul masters. But I just so happen to be heading back to Nuoding City. You can come with me and register there."

The young man suddenly understood. The kid must've just gotten his first soul ring and was here to get his identity registered and receive his benefits.

"By the way, my name is Su Yuntao. What's yours?"
