Chapter 17 - Chapter: Sharks Don’t Sleep

Chapter: Sharks Don't Sleep

The morning sun stretched lazily over Malibu as Daniel sat in his office, glass walls revealing endless waves crashing against the private beach. His tailored Tom Ford suit hugged his frame like armor, gold cufflinks gleaming as he sipped dark Brazilian coffee—the kind that hit the soul before the bloodstream.

Across the sleek marble desk, Felipe sat, energized, his eyes wide like a kid handed keys to a Ferrari. But this wasn't a toy. It was legacy.

"Alright, primo," Daniel began, sliding a black Amex across the table. "I'm leaving ten million in liquid cash, separate from the empire's main vault. What's your plan?"

Felipe straightened, not missing a beat. "First, I'm buying the three properties next to our main Café Brasil. Full acquisition, no leases. We knock down the walls, triple the space. More tables, live music stage, private VIP area. After that—same strategy for the other branches."

Daniel smirked, swirling his coffee. "Ambitious."

Felipe's grin was pure carioca boldness. "Fifteen locations across LA. No less than 1,500 square meters each. Spacious, upscale, unmistakable. Café Brasil isn't just coffee—it's home. It's nightlife. It's a statement."

The system chimed inside Daniel's mind, smooth as ever:

[SYSTEM: Expansion parameters approved. Reminder: Property titles registered under Café Brasil Holdings. No external investors authorized. Maintain family ownership integrity. Projected revenue increase: 320% within 18 months.]

Daniel tapped the side of his mug thoughtfully. "Good. But stay sharp. Scale fast, but precise. No sloppy growth."

Felipe nodded, confidence radiating. "I got this. You built the empire, I'll fortify it."

Before they could continue, Daniel's encrypted phone buzzed—a private offer notification flashing.

Private Bid: Hawaiian Island — $120 million, double market valuation.

Daniel chuckled under his breath. Only a fool says no to clean profit.

The system's voice slid in:

[SYSTEM: High-profile tech billionaire submitted the bid. Low risk, offshore transaction. Accepting is recommended.]

Without hesitation, Daniel clicked 'Accept'. Just like that, $60 million became $120 million. The empire grew quietly, efficiently.

"Island sold," Daniel announced casually, reclining in his chair. "Easy morning."

Felipe's jaw dropped. "Island? You had an island?"

Daniel raised an eyebrow, amused. "Had. Now, we have double the money."

The system pinged again, this time with flair:

[SYSTEM: Premium Login Complete. Bonus unlocked: Celebrity Collaboration Confirmed — Top global artists to endorse Café Brasil. Contract details incoming.]

Moments later, the office door opened, revealing Sofia Alvarez—the global pop star, LA royalty, Brazilian roots, pure charisma. Beside her, Lucas Costa, actor turned entrepreneur, beloved by millions.

"Hope we're not interrupting," Sofia said, her voice smooth as velvet, oversized sunglasses perched perfectly.

"Never," Daniel replied, rising to greet them, handshake firm, expression unreadable—a shark sizing up new waters.

Sofia's eyes scanned the office. "We've been watching Café Brasil blow up. You're making LA… taste like home."

Lucas nodded, grinning. "Time for the next level. Partnerships, endorsements, maybe a branded world tour coffee bar? You in?"

Daniel glanced at Felipe, who looked ready to pass out from excitement. But Daniel? Cool as marble.

"We don't dilute the brand," Daniel stated flatly. "Family-owned. Heritage intact. But… strategic alliances? That, we do."

Sofia's smile widened. "Then let's make history."

Later That Night — Café Brasil Flagship, LA

The expanded location was alive—samba rhythms, the scent of roasted beans, caipirinhas flowing. Media swarmed, influencers posed, and security—thick, discreet—kept chaos at bay.

Daniel, dressed sharp, his mother beside him in an elegant Versace dress, watched as Sofia took the stage, microphone in hand, Café Brasil logo gleaming behind her.

"This place?" she announced to roaring applause. "It's not just a café. It's Brazil, here in LA."

The crowd erupted, cameras flashing, social media feeds exploding.

Felipe approached, eyes wide, practically vibrating. "Primo… we did it."

Daniel's phone buzzed—bank app open, balance updated:

[Total Liquid Assets: $312,450,000.00]

And climbing.

His mother leaned in, whispering, "Proud of you, meu filho. But remember… don't forget where you came from."

Daniel's smile was small, sharp. "Never, mãe. Humble roots, shark teeth."

The system chimed one last time, low and confident:

[SYSTEM: Legacy trajectory stable. Expansion active. Global eyes watching. Stay silent. Stay sovereign.]

Daniel raised his glass, eyes scanning the glittering crowd, the empire rising brick by brick.

This was only the beginning.
