Chapter 1 - Honkai: Star Rail — Random Rider! [1]

"Oi, what the hell, you manic truck driver—what are you even crashing into?!"

Hoshigaki Sora stood there, dazed, eyes locked on the scene before him. "Wait… is this still... Earth?"

What lay before him was too surreal to believe. Just moments ago, this had been a bustling urban street—but now, all that remained were the crumbling skeletons of buildings.

The once-familiar greenery had completely vanished. All that stretched before him now was a wasteland painted in withered yellow and bleak decay.

Dry, lifeless tree branches reached weakly toward a gray, choking sky. There was not even a trace of life.

The air was thick with an oppressive desolation. Monolithic debris—stories tall—lay crookedly toppled, carved into haunting monuments by wind, sand, and time.

Sora stood beneath the looming shadow of a shattered structure, quietly taking in this alien, ruined land.

"Did I just… transmigrate into a post-apocalyptic world?"

In the distance, a few high-rise towers still stood—barely.

Windows shattered. Walls stripped and weathered. They looked like the bones of giants… or the ruins of a lost civilization.

Dust and sand choked the air, dry as bone. With every breath, Sora could feel tiny particles scraping at his lungs like glass.

"This is worse than breathing in smog..."

He instinctively pulled his shirt up over his mouth and nose. The added layer made it a little easier to breathe.

Only then did Sora have the clarity to wonder: Why am I here?

"I remember… I was watching that Platinum Gotchard highlight reel, and then—yeah, a truck honked at me…"

At that thought, two large characters suddenly popped into his mind: [大运]—"Good Fortune."

You've got to be kidding me. I hit the jackpot?!

No—damn it—I got hit BY the jackpot!!

He'd been targeted by the most notorious vehicle in all of transmigration tropes: the Truck of Fate™.

Shit!!

A sharp ache bloomed in his jaw as he clenched his teeth. He had just been standing on the side of the road, waiting for the light to change—how the hell did he end up getting isekai'd?

Too late now. The damage was done. The only thing left to figure out was: Where exactly am I?

Sora scanned his surroundings, trying to piece together some clue—some familiar landmark that might tell him whether he'd landed in another world, or maybe inside a game.

If this was a game world, then with his gamer brain, maybe—just maybe—he could rise like the morning sun in the East, and fade like twilight over a distant sea.

Just the thought of that image got him kind of hyped.

But the moment he turned and caught a clear look at the wreckage behind him, all the blood drained from his face.

Bathed in sickly, slanted sunlight, the towering structure before him looked nothing like a building. It was no landmark.

"…That's a spaceship?!"

Yes. That wasn't some collapsed skyscraper—it was the wreck of a starship, half-buried in the earth like a fallen titan.

The ship had been split in two. One portion had crashed into the ground, casting a long, jagged shadow.

Even this broken half was dozens of meters long. If it were whole...

Sora did a quick mental estimate, and then stared in disbelief. "If this thing's complete, wouldn't it be, like, hundreds—maybe over a thousand meters long?!"

He swallowed hard. More than awe, what filled him was a growing sense of unease.

Which raised a critical question:

If this starship had been flying through space—then what kind of force, what kind of entity, could've torn it apart like this?

"…What kind of messed-up world is this?"

Sora's scalp tingled. The power scaling in this universe was already giving him a bad feeling.

Was this Gundam? Three-Body Problem? Interstellar?

Just saying those names sent a chill down his spine.

None of those worlds were places a normal guy like him could survive.

Still—he took a deep breath, and forced himself to accept reality.

No point denying it. He was already here. Not like he could turn around and walk back.

If he could walk back, he'd go straight home and wipe his entire browser history clean.

At least leave behind some shred of dignity.

"…But if I transmigrated, there better be some kind of power-up, right?"

What kind of isekai dump-kick didn't come with cheat codes? Was he supposed to take on monsters with this half-dead, work-exhausted body?

Not to be dramatic, but if they really expected him to fight like this, he might as well lie down and die on the spot.

He was way past his prime. No more college PE classes. These days, he was lucky to jog three kilometers in thirty minutes.

Honestly? If this place turned dangerous, he might just set the record for fastest death after transmigrating.

Ka-ka!

Suddenly, a sharp metallic noise snapped him out of his thoughts.

He turned his head—and froze.

Two... figures. Strange, inhuman.

The moment he saw them, Sora's pupils shrank to pinpricks.

No way—this is… Honkai: Star Rail?!

The things in front of him—weren't they part of the Antimatter Legion? The ones you fight at the start of the game?!

Goddammit! This world's bad news too, huh?!

In this universe, normal people could get caught up in deadly battles at any time.

And now he understood how that spaceship behind him had been blown into so many chunks.

Of course. In this world, blowing apart an interstellar warship was child's play.

And just like Sora had spotted them—those two figures locked their gazes on him.

For a moment, the entire field seemed to fall silent.

"Heh—uh, h-hi there, sirs. You two eaten yet?" Sora gave a wobbly smile, inching slowly backward.

The Legion's response was simple.

"RAAARGH!!"

One of the Voidrangers lunged at him—blade glowing orange, aimed to cleave him in half.

[Dinggg~~]

Sora suddenly heard the toll of a bell. The world around him began to slow.

And slow.

Until it stopped.

No—this wasn't just slowing down. Time had actually stopped.

He could feel his own thoughts spinning. But the charging Voidranger ahead of him? Frozen mid-strike.

[Ding—Random Rider System activated!]

A voice echoed in his mind. And then, his consciousness was swept away.

Lights twisted chaotically around him—until they resolved into a gallery of Kamen Rider images, spanning the generations he knew by heart.

"Kuuga… Agito… G3… Ryuki… Knight… Ichigo… Hibiki… Faiz… Wait—they've even got Platinum Gotchard?! What's with the question marks at the end?!"

Sora stared in shock. Every Rider, from Showa to Reiwa—even secondary Riders—appeared before him.

Even some of the older Showa Riders he'd never personally watched were all here.

This… this must be my cheat system!

[Welcome to the Rider System space, Host. Please initiate your first draw.]

Draw? Sora frowned in confusion—until a wave of data flowed into his mind.

It was incredibly dense, but somehow he understood it immediately.

This was the instruction manual for his golden finger.

The [Random Rider System]. Every time he used it, it would randomly pull from the pool above and grant him one Rider's power.

That power would remain for a set amount of time—then vanish.

However, there also existed a true Rider power that belonged to him alone. That one wouldn't disappear after time ran out.

But none of that mattered right now. Sora hadn't forgotten about the frozen Voidranger waiting to kill him.

The priority was clear: survive first, ask questions later!

"System—draw for me!"

[As you wish, Host.]

As soon as the words dropped, the images dimmed.

They transformed into capsule toys—gachapon—that spun in a blur. A glowing red button appeared in front of Sora.

No hesitation. He slapped it.

A single capsule dropped, landing before him. It cracked open.

A Rider image shimmered, then surged straight into his body.

This power…
