Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Not so Normal

It's been a week since she started working at the Granny's place and Lilith was starting to believe that this place was normal... Well, not until today happened.

It was just the normal workday routine; wake up, wash up and get to work on time, enter that creepy room to get her supplies, and start working.

The only one of these routines which she dreaded the most was to enter that room. Like I said, it was so creepy, she thought of leaving the lights on before leaving work. But that was the thing; the lights were always off.

Her boss, the old granny told her that she shouldn't leave it on like that as it would cost her money. But was money if she can't have peace? If sometimes, she can't sleep at night.

There was always this eerie feeling once she entered that room and she always found it difficult to locate the light switch. She sometimes mentally curse the lady.

Speaking of the lady, she was also creepy. She would sometimes appear from no where. Mostly when Lexi was just trying to take a break at the wrong time. She would ask herself, was it mother instincts or was it just weird.

Today was the regular, get up, wash up and have breakfast.

The sound of her blaring alarm made her jolt awake, as a result, falling off the bed with a loud thud. She groaned, rubbing her ass as she stood up, cursing at her alarm. Of course, she wasn't going to change it anyway. She had done that (cursed at her alarm) for the longest time now and never changed it. Why then would she do it now?

She got into the shower, taking a good bath. Once she was done, she tied a towel and left the bathroom and made her way to her closet.

On her way there, she slipped and landed on her already hurt bum making her yelp. She just sat there on the floor for a good minute before chuckling at her own clumsiness. Shaking her head, she stood up and picked out the clothes she would wear; a pink shirt and a plain white plaid skirt. She paired it up with her one and only pink sandals.

Once she was all dressed, she tied up her hair in a high pony, later deciding on letting it fall. She never styled her hair, nor did she apply make up. Wouldn't that just waste her time? She never thought it was necessary since she was just going to work.

She picked up her bag and left her apartment.

Luckily, with this job she was able to pay rent for the next two months. She even wondered where the salary came from. Her boss would just come to her and give her a fat envelope every weekend. But she wasn't complaining. I mean who would complain? Not me, not you.

She stopped at a cafe to get breakfast sandwich and coffee and she was ready to start the day (work)

Life without friend was miserable. But she could manage. Since dhe graduated, all her friends went on with their lives. They were in the city, they saw her but just ignored her. It hurt. A lot. So from then, she realized she'd be okay on her own. Or at least that's what she thought. She knew in herself that she needed someone to hug, tell her stories, laugh at jokes, watch memes together. Even if it was just one friend. But none. she had none.

She entered the shop and greeted the woman but she wasn't there. Where was she. She was always there every morning and then vanished once she comes out of that room. She just shrugged it off and entered the dark room.

On with today's struggles. She toiled and toiled just to find the switch. She always feared darkness but since she started working here, she thought it'd be able to get rid of that fear. I guess that was not the case.

Unluckily, for the third time today, she fell.

'so there's a secret switch' she thought as the room became bright, but when she looked up, her eyes widened.

That thought of this place being normal quickly disappeared...
