The hospital's parking garage was quiet except for the distant wail of sirens. I'd left William's room twenty minutes ago, but the image of his broken hand kept flashing through my mind. The calculated cruelty in Victor Albright's eyes. The way the university administration had orchestrated the whole thing.
My phone buzzed. A text from one of my contacts in Dragon's Shadow.
Target located. Preston Croft, 22, nephew of Victor Albright. Currently at Riverside University campus, Building C. Witnesses report he's confronting someone matching William Young's description.
My blood turned to ice.
Preston Croft. Victor's cousin. The family was making their move faster than expected.
I was already running toward my car when the second text came through.
Situation escalating. Subject appears to be publicly accusing target of sexual assault. Large crowd gathering.
