Aiden Knight's POV
I was reviewing financial projections for the Heavenly Justice Group when my phone rang. Chloe's name flashed on the screen, but something in her tone immediately put me on high alert.
"Aiden, we have an emergency." Her voice was tight with controlled panic. "It's William."
My blood turned to ice. William Young—one of the few people who had stood by me during my darkest years in high school. When everyone else treated me like garbage, William had been there. Loyal. Genuine. A brother in everything but blood.
"What happened?"
"He's at Jiangbei University. Someone called me from the hospital—they couldn't reach his family. Aiden, they beat him badly. Broke his hand. The caller said whoever did this has influence. They've locked down the entire campus. No one gets in or out."
The phone creaked in my grip. Around me, the air seemed to thicken with an invisible pressure that made the windows rattle slightly.
"How long ago?"
