Chapter 1 - Prologue

The entire village shouted and jeered and ushered as the boy moved closer to the temple. He was no older than seven with white hair, pale skin and black eyes. His face remained expressionless as he slowly walked towards the thatched building.

"Demon!" A man yelled and threw a sour tomato at him. It landed on his head and juice dripped on his face.

The boy stopped abruptly and turned to the man, his gaze drilling holes into his face. The man shrank and turned away in fear and disgust.

The boy sighed and continued on. A woman yelled, "You killed my baby!"

"No I didn't," the boy mumbled to himself, "Your ghoul did."

"You filthy demon," a girl screamed at him. "My love... Because of you, he met his unfortunate end! How can you look so guilt less when you've killed an innocent, sweet man?!"

The boy looked unbothered as he continued walking. Yet he couldn't stop himself from smirking and licking his lips. "Yeah," he confessed to the girl, "that one was me."

The girl's eyes watered and she screamed and wailed. The boy could hardly sympathise with her. After all, that wasn't what he was trained to do.

"Poor girl," he muttered to himself. "If only you knew what your lover truly was."

He finally reached the temple where the priestess was waiting for him with her arms spread wide. She was a woman of about forty, with black hair in a bun and bright red lip makeup. Even though she wore pure white and prayer beads, the boy couldn't help but feel something ominous about her.

"Today, you demon," she cackled, "you'll be exorcised."

The boy grinned at her.

"Like hell that'll happen."

He stepped forward until he was on the same ground as the priestess. He stared up at her with his haunting gaze. "You and your ghost. Will leave this place. Now."

The priestess didn't flinch. She nearly smiled at this young, incompetent boy. "We'll see about that, demon."

The boy followed her into the temple. It was simple with an altar, a table, floor cushions and shelves. Shelves and shelves of pots, vases and wooden boxes. The boy guessed that's were the ghosts were.

The priestess blew off the candles in the area. The air became thicker and less breathable. The boy cocked his head to the side as he contemplated over things.

The pots, vases and boxes began to quake. The boy still remained silent but his body went tense and his fingers prepared for a fight.

"Boy," the priestess said. Her voice was deeper, more raw. "You should've ran when you had the chance. Now you're in the tiger's den."

The pots, vases and boxes shook even more, threatening to spew out the ghosts that were sealed there.

"Pfft," the boy laughed. "'Tiger's den'? Don't make me laugh. This is nothing but a mouse's hole."

The priestess looked infuriated by that remark. She sucked in her teetch. The lids of the pots, boxes and vases flew open. Ghosts ran about, each trying to land an attack on the boy. He dodged them all efficiently and with great ease. He sucked in a breath and stretched out his left hand. A katana appeared from a black mist. The black was pure black with red clouds engraved on it and the hilt was blood red.

The boy lunged forward. He sliced all of the ghosts like he was cutting butter. In a matter of moments, all the ghosts were gone as though they never existed.

"I think I get it now," the boy remarked at the horrified priestess. "The reason I couldn't sense any ghoul on you was because you aren't the host. If, you tell me where the ghoul is, I'll spare your life."

"Sh-shut up! Y-y-you don't know anything! I..." the priestess stammered, her eyes wide with shock.

"Yes, I do," the boy said. "I'm a ghoul eater."

He knelt down and stared at the priestess on the floor. "Where. Is. The ghoul?"

The priestess lips shook. "I... I can't tell you. I can't! I can't!"

The boy stared at her. "You can't..." he pressed the blade of his katana against her neck. "... Or you won't? Answer me."

The priestess' eyes widened and her breath hitched. Who was this boy? "I..." She started, "c-can't. My mouth..."

"What happened to your mouth?" the boy asked sternly.

"The ghoul... My mouth... I can't talk about where it is... B-believe me! I'm not lying!"

The boy stared at her coldly. Then his lips broke into a warm smile that didn't reach his eyes. "Alright, I believe you."

Meanwhile, a handsome young man let a beautiful young girl lead him into a dark area between two houses.

"Here," she whispered to him seductively, "No one will see us."

"Good," the young man said happily. Then his voice went deeper as he repeated the words again. "Good."

The man's eye glowed unexpectedly. Ghosts emerged from the ground and grabbed her legs before the girl tried to run.

"What...?" the girl's lips trembled furiously. "What's going on?"

The man smiled wider until the ends of his mouth reached his cheekbones revealing rows and rows of sharp teeth. "Don't worry," he said in mock reassurance, "you won't feel a thing."

"Someone," the girl said, terrified. "Anyone. Help me!"

The words echoed in the boy's ears. He stood up abruptly. "An invitation."

The ghoul grabbed the girl's head. "Shut your damn mouth you damned bitch. If you struggle, the process will just be more painful."

The girl was froze as the ghosts climbed her body until one was face to face with her. It had a melted face of horror and it's mouth showed only a few teeth when it opened. It sucked at her life force, slowly and painlessly, until she was nothing more than an empty vessel with a few drops of water.

The ghoul grinned and a stretched its hand to her. But before it could touch her, it was sliced in half.

"Huh?" it wondered exasperated. It turned to see the boy in a fighters' stance, glaring at it.

"You!" It exclaimed. "Didn't the priestess deal with you? That bitch..."

The boy charged at it, slicing at the ghosts that can to attack it. The ghoul stretched out a hand and it elongated to reach the boy. He dodged and sliced the ghoul's fingers.

"Damn you, " the ghoul hissed as black blood dripped from its wounds. In an instant, it regenerated like nothing happened.

It attacked at the boy who took a deep breath.

The boy lunged with lightning speed and sliced all the ghoul's limbs and leaving behind clouds of black mist. The boy held out his right hand and his nails grew sharper. He dug his nails into the heart of the ghoul, injected red mist. The ghoul screamed in agony and as its left arm regenerated, it grabbed the boy's arm.

"You'll pay for this!" It screeched but the boy didn't respond. Instead, he brought out his hand and holding up two fingers, red clouds swarmed the ghoul who finally understood what was happening.

"No!" It screamed. "No! I shall not be eaten!"

"Sorry," the boy responded with a devilish grin, "but you already are."

The last screams of the ghoul's were muffled by the clouds. Then the clouds dissolved and the ghoul was gone.

The boy licked his lips. "What a nice meal."
