Chapter 1 - The Shadow Spell

Sunny opened his eyes and felt the huge relief he longed for, the empty room he used as bedroom looked abandoned, dirty and dusty, just like what someone would expect from the outskirts.

He let out a sigh and slowly get out of the old mattress, his mind quickly trying to understand all the things that happened.

'Gods, i feel so relieved... so much silence...'

Now that he was a normal human again, his mind was having some trouble adapting to being limited, knowing how dangerous all his knowledge could be in a mundane brain, he prepared his safeguards for this moment.

Concentrating in his runes for the first time in this body, he could see it, the panel of his own spell, his masterpiece.

'It really works, even in this time, and if my brain didn't melt... at least not until now, the locks should be working too!'

Focusing in a different area of the spell, he reached the area where his knowledge was stored, seven lines representing the knowledge of the ranks until divinity, and since the mind of a god couldn't be encompassed in his sixteen year old brain, he put locks just to prevent becoming some meat slime in his old house.

'So pretty, i really am the best sorcerer ain't i? Well, i was the best sorcerer... Damn, i better take all of this slowly.'

Looking again at his runes, Sunny chose to read the first two lines.

[Dormant Knowledge: Unlock]

[Awakened Knowledge: Unlock]

The locks didn't block his memories completely, at least not until the sacred rank, since the vague memories of becoming an spirit were too great to anyone in this time. At the moment, he could remember things until the start of his second nightmare, and then it all became blurry, like the memories of a dream slowly fading away.

The most important thing about his this system was remembering the senses ans feelings for each step in the divinity, so even if he could remember his days exploring the chained isles, he couldn't remember how it was being a awakened, like knowing you swam in a river but without knowing how it was to be wet, or even what movement your body made to swim.

'This two should be enough for now, when i complete my core, i should be capable of sustaining two more ranks'

Commanding the spell, the locks were opened, making Sunny reveal a grim smile.

'This is amazing! I'm pretty sure i could became an awakened again with 10 or less soul shards... Nah, i still have plenty of time... and having my mind only to myself feels... so refreshing! I wish it could be like this forever.'

In seconds, his memories until the end of the second nightmare became clear like the lake next to Bastion, all his battles, struggles and moments of joys, it was like it all received a new layer of color in his mind, and so, the longing came too.

'At this time, Nephis should be locked inside her manor, probably training her swordsmanship, Cassie should face her nightmare not too far from now, on other side... Kai and Effie must be fighting for their lives on the forgotten shore.'

Throwing himself back at the mattress, Sunny felt free to enjoy his mundane life for some minutes, stretching his frail body and speaking like wanting to yawn.

"Since they made it one time... they surely can do it once more! Now, I'm going to take a deserved night of sleep for creating the coolest spell in the world. Two worlds, even."
