So, around Christmas I finally looked up what Walpurgisnacht is. Apparently, every year at the start of May, a floating island named 'Walpurgis' holds a festival and tournament to show off the skills and talents of one continent's young mages. The island itself moves between the three martial continents on a three-year cycle, holding Walpurgisnacht once a year.
This tournament functions as an attraction for mages everywhere, looking for promising young disciples. It is said that it is hosted by the three sages, the world's top mages who are widely considered to be unrivaled in their specialized school of magic. The winner of the tournament is usually guaranteed a recruitment offer to one of the three factions. As for the people who enter the tournament, they either has to pass some qualification test first or they must have a referral of an arch mage or the equivalent.
Sometimes, magic academies like Shiro academy send students to represent their school as a publicity stunt to advertise itself. As many people of different backgrounds have need of arcane knowledge, gaining fame as a magic educational facility would be good for the academy's business. Therefore, a number of wealthy and powerful people from across the continent tend to show up. Everyone whether they are an arch mage looking for a disciple, a cultivator looking for an enchanter, or an emperor looking for a court mage can be found at this wonderful child pageant. And my plan was to sell my beautiful baby boy to the highest bidder on my date with Whitebeard.
You see I have recently divorced my mannequin wife while paying for my shut-in of a son's college tuition just to get him out of the house. Hot, single and ready to mingle I've been invited to this fancy shindig by Mr. Whitebeard himself.
However, as a newly divorced father I'm afraid the baby will be a turnoff in our future relationship, should he fall on his ass and return back home. Hence, my plan is to convince my new sugar daddy to let him attend the pageant, get himself hitched with his own sugar daddy, who will be so possessive I will never see my baby boy brat number 2 again. It's a flawless plan I know. The only issue is that my sugar daddy Whitebeard is being cold to brat number 2 because he came from my ex-wife. Hence, brat number 2 has to prove himself in a test of courage against the hundreds of kids Whitebeard fathered at this academy household of his. If he fails, then daddy Whitebeard will send him to the big Suzuki farm in the sky.
I raised the boy myself, so there is no way he won't succeed, the only issue is the other two brats.
"We're going too!" Brat number 3 said.
"NO! I already have a third wheel. I don't need a fourth and definitely not a fifth."
"We already entered so it's too late." Brat number 1 said
Apparently, brats 1 and 3 found out from brat number 2 about my date and decided to tag along. Being the clingy kids that they are, they will definitely be a turn off and might even get me fired from my cushy new job. I mean, I was planning to quit anyways but just think about how bad this will look on my next job application. Fired for having clingy brats. How could I ever bare the shame of applying for a job, when even I wouldn't hire such a nincompoop. Unfortunately, it's out of my hands. I just have to hope I wasn't so good at raising these kids that all three makes it.
