Chapter 12 - Identity

It was just that, Liam discovered that the woman had an extraordinary endurance.

The destruction of many parts of her body due to the explosion from his fire dragon hand did not make her die.

Liam could even see her body recovering. Her damaged flesh was regenerating, though not as fast as the damage Liam kept inflicting.

Realizing that he needed to stab her heart, Liam drew his sword.

He coated it with wind to enhance its sharpness.

Shua!

When he thrust the sword into the woman's chest, he was forced to pull back his dragon hand, allowing the woman to break free.

However, before she could get up, his sword had already pierced through her chest completely.

Her red eyes turned cold, but then lost their light before closing.

The woman finally died, and Liam let out a sigh of relief.

From the strength of her endurance, Liam knew he would have had a hard time defeating her if he failed to land a surprise attack.

DING!

(You have killed a Level 5 Meta Zombie. You obtained 100 Battle Points and 100 System Points!)

(Since you killed a zombie two levels above you, you receive a bonus of 100 Battle Points!)

(Level: 3)

(Battle Points: 200/400)

(System Points: 200)

The notification that appeared shocked Liam.

200 Battle Points, even 100 System Points, he didn't expect the reward for killing a Meta Zombie to be twice that of a normal zombie or monster.

When the woman's corpse turned into a ball of light, Liam became very curious about what would appear.

If it was another Tier 1 Sword, he thought he'd break it.

"Mm!"

When the light orb disappeared, what appeared was a crystal orb with a virtual screen above it. It was a skill.

(B Tier Skill "Earthquake," a skill that allows you to create an earthquake in the area around you!)

Liam didn't expect it would be a skill to create an earthquake.

He thought it wasn't bad. He imagined that if he used the skill when surrounded by zombies, he could make them stagger, giving him the opportunity to attack.

When the crystal orb landed in his hand, he swallowed it directly.

He figured that was the best way.

DING!

(You obtained B Tier Skill "Earthquake!")

(Skills:

[Right Hand Transformation ]

[Wind Blade ]

[Dead March ]

[Earthquake ])

With the appearance of that skill, Liam immediately knew how to use it.

However, there were no enemies nearby, so he didn't use it.

His battle had naturally been witnessed by Alex and Lisa. They stopped moving goods after seeing him fight the woman, while Henry and his friends could only be amazed that he was able to defeat a Meta Zombie that quickly.

"Dude, I already figured you were strong, but turns out you're stronger than I thought," said Henry as he approached.

"Not really, I was just a bit lucky," replied Liam with a smile.

He returned his hand to a human form and gestured to Alex and Lisa to continue, as everything was already safe.

However, he didn't help them. He simply sent Zombie Paul to move the pickup truck's cargo.

As for himself, he summoned his red portal and summoned the Meta Zombie.

Henry and the others froze when they saw, from the portal, the woman with long red claws—who had just almost killed one of them—walk out.

Her appearance was exactly the same, wearing a blue dress and high heels.

"Greetings, Master! I apologize for my earlier actions," she said to Liam while bowing slightly with a hand on her chest, like a knight giving respect to their king.

Liam didn't expect she would apologize to him. This meant, as a creature he controlled, she still had her previous memories.

"Are you human or zombie?" asked Liam.

"I am a zombie. My intelligence and memory are useless in the face of zombie instinct that only wants to kill humans, even though I know I am a human turned into a zombie. However, because of your restraint, my zombie instinct can be suppressed," the woman explained her current feelings.

Her tone was also gentle, like that of a human.

"Can you consider yourself human now?" Liam asked again.

"Yes, maybe…" the woman nodded lightly. "My mind and awareness are exactly like when I was still human when my zombie instinct is suppressed. It's just that, my body is that of a zombie, and I have a strong desire to obey your commands."

"Does that make you uncomfortable?"

"My mind thinks it should be uncomfortable, but I don't actually feel uncomfortable, as if this is what I should be doing. And I think it's much better than being controlled by my zombie instinct."

Henry and his three companions stared at the woman without blinking as they listened to her words.

From human, to zombie, and now becoming someone's absolute servant—they wondered about the state of her mind.

It was hard to imagine, and they felt sorry for her.

Although Liam also felt sorry for her, he truly couldn't think of a way to help.

She was technically already dead; her current life could be said to be a borrowed one, not truly alive.

"How did you end up in the trunk?" Liam asked.

"I was kidnapped, then the trunk's lock opened after the car's engine was started. Before that, I was still in the process of turning into a zombie, and the process ended when I opened the trunk," the woman quickly explained everything after being asked.

"Who exactly are you?" Liam asked again, very curious about her identity.

She was clearly not an ordinary woman. Her appearance was too beautiful, and the dress and heels she wore were obviously very expensive items. Those things alone were enough to show her extraordinary background.

"My name is Alice Avenhart, and my father is Charles Avenhart!" the woman replied.

"Damn, the richest man in San Francisco and our former boss before we went to prison," said Henry after hearing her answer, looking utterly shocked.

And Liam added, "...my parents' boss, and mine too."

He was the richest man in the city with various business branches, also one of the wealthiest in the United States. Naturally, many city residents worked for him.

Both of Liam's parents worked at his main company, and Liam himself sometimes did part-time jobs there as a janitor, relying on his parents' connections.

The figure of Charles Avenhart was certainly not unfamiliar to those who worked in his company, as he was a highly influential figure—known to be involved in both the dark and the light sides of the world.

Unexpectedly, the zombie woman standing before them was his daughter.

As far as they knew, he had only one child, even though he was known to have many lovers.
