Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Hollow Star

The moment Elyra collapsed, time fractured.

Kael barely registered his own shout as the vault's inner seals activated. The system recognized a conflict of fate—a temporal paradox triggered by her mind breaching forbidden memory layers.

Kael didn't get to decide.

Reality peeled back.

And he fell inward.

🕳️ Into the Core

He landed on obsidian—smooth and polished, reflecting himself a thousand times over. But only one reflection moved with delay.

The rest stood tall. Proud. Imperfectly divine.

Each wore versions of his old self: crowned, chained, burned, blade-wielding, laughing.

And in the center…

He stood alone.

The Hollow Star.

His mirror.

His monster.

🌑 The Hollow Star

This Kael looked just like him—but without the weight in his shoulders. Without the doubt in his gaze.

He was beautiful, brutal, and at peace with being a god.

"You finally came," the Hollow Star said. "I was beginning to think you'd stay small forever."

Kael stepped forward. "What are you?"

The Hollow Star tilted his head.

"I'm what you buried. The real Kael. The one who tore down gods, enslaved eternity, and kissed death like a lover."

Kael's fists clenched. "You're what broke the world."

"No," the Hollow Star said calmly. "I'm what saved it. You're the lie they stitched together with pain and guilt and that little prophet girl."

He smiled cruelly.

"She's breaking, by the way. You did that. You always do."

⚔️ The Fight of the Self

It wasn't a clash of blades—it was thought, instinct, memory, rage.

Kael struck with lightning, only to be countered by future sight. The Hollow Star used techniques Kael hadn't even remembered learning.

He wielded guilt as a weapon, throwing past sins like daggers.

"You loved Elyra," the Hollow Star sneered, pressing him back. "Then used her like a chain."

Kael gasped. "I never—"

"Then why is she dying for you?"

The blade cut shallow—but true.

Kael dropped to one knee, struggling to breathe through the emotion crushing his lungs.

The Hollow Star raised his blade—made from pure memory, forged from betrayal.

🌠 A Voice in the Dark

Then came a whisper.

So soft it barely cracked the void.

"You're not him."

Elyra's voice.

Kael looked up. And saw a faint shimmer of her—half-collapsed, soul bleeding light—but reaching toward him.

Not begging. Not judging.

Just reminding.

"You didn't destroy me," she said. "You're the reason I'm still fighting."

And the Hollow Star flinched.

🩸 The Final Blow

Kael didn't fight like a god.

He fought like a man who had been brought back to life by guilt. Who carried the dead in his heartbeat. Who remembered why he bled in the first place.

He dodged the Hollow Star's divine strike, grabbed his double's wrist—and whispered:

"You are not who I want to be."

Then he shattered him with lightning forged from love, rage, and memory.

💔 Aftermath

Elyra lay still.

He rushed to her side—only to see her eyes flutter. Her voice was barely a whisper.

"You came back."

"I always will," he said, cradling her. "Even if I have to fight myself a thousand times."

She winced, clutching her chest. "The memories are burning. I… I remember what you did. What they made you forget. And Kael…"

She looked at him—truly looked at him—and for the first time, fear mixed with awe.

"You weren't just their god," she whispered.

"You were their punishment."
