Chapter 1 - In favour of love

"The Starbound Oath"

In the floating kingdom of Elowen, where islands drifted through the skies tethered by chains of light, the stars were not just lights in the sky — they were memories, wishes, and sometimes, souls.

Kaelen was a Starforged, a knight born of celestial flame, bound to protect the realm from the Void that sought to swallow the light. He was powerful, revered, and achingly alone. He had died once — or so he'd been told — resurrected by the Crown to serve. Yet something in his heart pulsed with longing, something he could never name.

That name came one night when a rogue star crashed into the sacred gardens of Elowen. Within the crater was a woman — hair like midnight rain, eyes glowing with ancient light, and a voice that made the sky tremble.

Her name was Seris. She was no ordinary woman — she was a Starborn, one of the celestial kind exiled from the heavens. And she had come for Kaelen.

"You swore to find me," she whispered, touching the mark on his chest — the same mark she bore, a mirrored glyph of fire and frost. "Even through death. Even if your soul forgot."

Her touch stirred something deep in him — flashes of a forgotten love, stolen nights under drifting constellations, bodies entwined in a skyborn temple long since shattered. She had been his beloved. They had died together in a war that rewrote time. But she had broken the laws of the stars to return for him.

As they journeyed to reclaim his memories and face the sky-lords who had bound his soul, Kaelen and Seris rekindled a love that defied worlds. It wasn't gentle — it was desperate, hungry, a love forged in pain and reborn in heat. When they touched, magic sparked in waves that bent gravity. When they kissed, stars dimmed in envy.

In the sacred sanctuary of the Moonspire, they finally gave in fully. Their bodies met like fire and shadow, remembering one another as if no time had passed — every curve, every gasp, every whispered name like the lyrics of a sacred song. It was both reunion and resurrection — their bond sealed not only by passion, but by the old vows carved into the sky:

"Beyond lifetimes, beyond death, beyond even the stars — I am yours."

But love in Elowen was not without consequence.

The gods who feared their union rained fire upon the world. Armies rose, the sky split, and Kaelen was offered a choice: to return as a Starforged guardian with no memory of her, or to fall — truly fall — and live as a mortal with her, defying fate.

He chose her.
