Chapter 11 - 10. Business Trip

"We are leaving for London for two days," Tan said as Jennifer stood in front of him with her iPad, noting down.

"We?" She pointed towards him and herself, making sure that he was talking about her only.

He raised his head from the laptop to take a look at her and asked, "Can this table, the couch or the wall come with me in a car? If so, then they are also coming." His face was straight but dipped with sarcasm.

"Why can't you answer me properly for once?" Her face held a scowl. "Why can't you ask rational questions? Who else is here with me?" He leaned back in his armchair. "You could have just said a yes." She argued back, making him sigh. "Yes Miss Wilson, WE, which means you and I are going to London tomorrow for two days to attend an important conference. Is that fine now?"

Jennifer thinned her lips into a smile, muttering a small, "sure sir".

Only if it was legal to do a murder, he would be dead by now. The whole day passed somehow, while Jennifer kept wondering about going with him. Though it was her job to accompany him as his secretary, going alone with a guy made her feel insecure.

She can't really trust him. Can she?

Time skip :-

Next morning, 10:00 a.m.

Jennifer stood in the parking lot with her bag as Tan's driver was getting into his car.

"See, I am on time today." She said to Tan as soon as she spotted him coming. "So? Should I give you an award for that?" He said, keeping a blank face. Jennifer scoffed, mentally rolling her eyes at him.

Once the car came and parked beside the duo, the driver came out. "I am sorry sir that I couldn't drive you to your destination." The driver said apologetically while Jennifer stood clueless.

"It's alright. Your wife needs you now. Take care and ask me if you need anything. And please take my other car for servicing." Tan took the car keys from him and the driver left. His wife was in labor and hence he wasn't able to drive them both.

"How will he take the car for servicing, when the keys are with you?" Jennifer asked, confused.

Tan looked at Jennifer and asked, "Were you a fool from birth, or did you knock your head somewhere, recently?"

"Can't you, for once, answer something without giving me those sassy replies?" Jennifer asked, frustrated.

"He has all the keys, from my garage to all my cars, Ms. Jennifer. Do you want to know anything more, or can we head towards our destination?"

Jennifer widened her eyes as she realized that Tan was about to drive. "Hold on. Hold on!" She yelled suddenly as Tan walked to the other side. "Can you even drive properly?" He stopped from sitting inside as he heard her speak. "I mean do you have a license and all?"

He stood silently, glaring at her.

"Listen, don't give me those looks. I have seen how your driver drives. So you can't really expect me to trust you." He sighed but still didn't speak, instead he just kept staring at her.

"I am just curious. You can drive, right?"

"Are you getting in or not?" He glared at her again and she reluctantly sat inside.

"Listen to me carefully...." He said once she was done putting on her seatbelt. "As I have already told you earlier, I absolutely hate chaotic people...so you would better keep quiet during this journey till London." He warned you before starting the car. "But I have a question..." She worriedly looked at him, and he sighed, realizing that this journey will be anything but quiet.

The car was running smoothly on the road, but the environment inside the car wasn't that smooth. Tan was quite regretting bringing Jennifer, as she kept shuffling in her seat and trying to initiate a conversation while all he did was put an abrupt ending to her talks, everytime. She kept questioning his driving skills but stopped once after she realized that he wasn't a bad driver.

"Can we play some music please?" Jennifer sighed boringly, looking at her front, seeing a never ending gray pathway. "Are you finally tired of using your mouth? And no, you can't play music." He said taunting, keeping his eyes on the road as well. "I am getting bored." She looked at him, her hands folded.

"I am not your entertainer."

"Sure you are not. But at least you are the owner of this car, and you can allow me to play some music which I can listen to." She smiled with her brows raised, but he ignored her and simply inserted a CD to play music. She cheered happily to herself, but her smile was gone, once the music started playing.

It sounded too old for her to even know which song it was. Jennifer gave him an unbelievable look who seemed quite unbothered and started humming to the classical chords. "What are you even playing?" She frowned and he gave her a side look.

"Music." He looked back at the road. "What is this music? I don't even know what this is?" She threw a fit at him.

"You don't know many things, Ms. Jennifer, but that doesn't mean that they do not exist." He simply shrugged his shoulders. "Sir, I just wanted to listen to some music." she made a crying face. "Something that I understand and is not this primitive for me" She kept glaring at his side profile. "I regret forgetting my earphones. At least-"

"At least this journey would have been a calm one."
