Chapter 2: Plump and Juicy, Bugs Are Delicious!
The moment the transfer began, the surrounding scenery blurred into streaks of light, zipping past at incredible speed.
In less than two seconds, it was as if Broly had entered a pitch-black tunnel. Everything turned dark—until color gradually returned in the form of countless fast-moving lines.
Just as Broly, curious, reached out to touch the lines around him, the scene abruptly froze. In the next instant, he appeared on the steps of a dimly lit basement.
From somewhere below, faint rustling echoed—followed by a barely audible sob.
"Hmm?"
Broly turned toward the sound and saw a swarm of writhing insects below the stairs. In the middle of the wriggling pile was a slightly bloated insect sac. The sobbing was coming from inside it.
Without hesitation, Broly jumped straight into the pile and tore open the insect sac.
Inside, he found a small girl—completely naked, her face stained with tears and her eyes red from prolonged crying. The sobs stopped as she stared blankly at the sudden burst of light.
"Were you sleeping in a pile of food?"
Broly asked curiously, his eyes drawn to a worm crawling across the girl's pale chest. The insects looked plump and white, and while they had sharp teeth, they seemed far more appetizing than the larvae of the Wanpa Spiders he had once eaten. His stomach growled as he swallowed unconsciously.
The girl—Sakura—didn't know how to respond. Half a month ago, she had been adopted into the Matou family. On the very first day, she was thrown into this underground insect chamber by an elderly man named Zouken Matou.
"Your magical attribute is 'Void.' To inherit the Matou family's crest, you'll need to undergo transformation," he had said coldly.
He then ordered his Crest Worms to begin their invasive procedure, which involved corroding Sakura's body with magical toxins to rewrite her circuits. The process was horrifying—both to witness and to endure. It felt like being stabbed with thousands of needles every second.
She had cried loudly at first. Now, all she could do was sob softly—clinging to the faint hope that someone, anyone, would come to save her. Her elegant father, her gentle mother, or even her occasionally annoying older sister.
But no one came.
Instead, a strange boy—barely older than her—appeared and pulled off the worms clinging to her body. He looked at her with sincere eyes, then spoke gently.
Though she didn't understand his words, the etiquette drilled into her by the Tohsaka family remained. She tried to stand, ignoring the pain, and attempted to thank the boy. But her voice was hoarse, barely louder than a whisper.
Broly couldn't hear what she said, but when she stood and revealed her full appearance, new information suddenly popped into his mind.
> "Matou Sakura — One of your waifu figures. You may invite her to join your Crystal Palace."
"You're my wife?" Broly asked curiously.
"Huh?" Sakura blinked, confused.
But then she remembered the fairy tales her mother used to tell—about princes saving princesses and marrying them.
"I'm not your wife… but I can become your wife," she said softly.
Broly extended his hand. "If you're my wife, I'm hungry. Do you have any food?"
The Crystal Palace had told him that wives are supposed to give food. And there was so much here.
Sakura, still confused, remembered her pretend games. When the husband was hungry, the wife would feed him.
But she had no food, no clothes—nothing.
As she stood unsure of what to do, the heavy metal door to the bug chamber creaked open. A hunched figure entered, leaning on a cane.
"Sakura, who is this?" asked Zouken Matou, his cold eyes locking onto the unfamiliar boy.
"G-Grandpa…" Sakura's body trembled with fear.
"I don't know him. I'll undergo the transformation quietly. Please don't punish me…"
She lay back down, her voice trembling with dread.
> "There are no miracles," she thought. "This boy will be killed too…"
Tears fell again—whether for herself, or for the boy who had come to save her.
"I truly am getting old," muttered Zouken, walking toward Broly. "A child managed to sneak in, and I only noticed now? You're quite unlucky, boy. But since you're here, become food for the worms. Crest Worms, feast on him."
The worms swarmed Broly, avoiding Sakura.
"Don't harm the girl," Zouken ordered. "Her body is the Matou family's vessel, meant to nurture superior heirs."
The Crest Worms descended, biting and clawing at Broly's body.
But instead of pain, a calm voice came from inside the swarm.
"Your grandpa is a really nice guy."
Slurp~
The sound of eating filled the room.
Broly had begun to feast.
"These worms… crunchy shell, chicken-like meat, protein content eight times that of beef…"
More and more data about the Crest Worms flashed in Broly's mind as he continued to eat.
He sucked down another worm, biting through it. Juices exploded in his mouth.
Tossing the worm's head aside, a pile of discarded parts began to form next to him.
Sakura and Zouken could only stare, dumbfounded.
Could these worms actually be edible…?
Saiyan biology was unmatched—able to digest almost anything non-toxic. Compared to some alien creatures, these Crest Worms were rich in mana and nutrients.
"Who are you, boy?" Zouken finally asked, his voice grim. "Those worms shouldn't be harmless—yet they can't pierce your skin."
"I'm Broly. I'm a Saiyan," Broly replied, politely.
"Saiyan…?" Zouken murmured, puzzled. He couldn't recall ever hearing of such a race.
"No matter," he growled. "Since you've eaten my worms, you'll pay dearly."
"Huh? They weren't for me?"
Broly looked surprised but kept eating.
"They crawled into my mouth. Not my fault."
At that, Sakura couldn't help it anymore. She began gagging.
"You dare mock me?"
Zouken waved his cane, summoning modified hornet-like worms with explosive properties.
"Kill him!"
The hornets darted toward Broly.
"New food!"
Eyes lighting up, Broly caught one and bit down.
Boom!
It exploded in his mouth.
"You fool," Zouken cackled. "Those are self-destructing!"
But Broly's voice emerged from the smoke—unharmed.
"Oh… so those aren't edible."
Zouken paled. "You're alive…?!"
"The smoke didn't hurt me. Don't you know the rule? 'No damage with smoke.'"
Just then, a message popped into Broly's mind:
> "Wife's Happiness Value is decreasing. Please improve mood to increase affection and success rate of joining Crystal Palace."
Broly turned and saw Sakura trembling.
"What exactly is a 'wife' supposed to do?" he wondered. But before he could think further, he caught more hornets and approached Zouken.
"What—? Wait—!"
Before Zouken could react, Broly shoved the explosive worms into his mouth.
Boom!
This time, the explosion tore Zouken's head clean off.
His headless body slumped down the steps.
Without a master, the Crest Worms retreated in fear from the new apex predator in the room.
> "Inheritance unlocked."
New information filled Broly's head.
He floated down beside Sakura and said, "I killed your grandpa. Now the food's yours. I'm still hungry. Can I have some more?"
"Eh?"
Sakura looked at the corpse in shock.
Instead of fear… she felt relief.
"Do you… still want to eat bugs?" she asked.
"Is that a problem?" Broly tilted his head.
"They're not… real food," she replied softly, wiping her tears.
Broly blinked.
But then Sakura smiled faintly.
"I can take you to eat real food."
"What's that?"
"Like cake… and pudding."
"Cake? Pudding?"
He'd heard of those… maybe. He couldn't remember.
But his curiosity exploded.
"Where are they?"
"In the refrigerator. Uncle Kariya bought them for me a few days ago."
Her voice regained life as the trauma began to fade.
"What's a refrigerator?"
"Come with me. I'll show you."
She grabbed Broly's hand and led him out of the basement.
Once in the kitchen, she opened the refrigerator door.
A cold gust rushed out, startling Broly. He jumped back, eyeing the machine cautiously.
No information appeared in his mind—just unease.
He turned to Sakura, waiting for her to explain.
