I stood in front of the full-length mirror, smoothing my hands nervously over the midnight blue dress that clung to my curves. After our conversation in Kaelen's office, I'd spent hours overthinking what "going out" with the Alpha wolf would entail. Despite assurances from Kaelen's staff that they'd handle everything, I still felt woefully unprepared.
A knock at my door startled me.
"Come in," I called, expecting one of the household staff.
Instead, Kaelen himself stepped into my room, his tall frame filling the doorway with commanding presence. He wore a charcoal suit that fit his broad shoulders like it had been poured onto him, the crisp white shirt underneath unbuttoned at the collar just enough to make my mouth go dry.
"You look beautiful," he said, his green eyes darkening as they traveled slowly down my body.
I felt heat rise to my cheeks. "Thank you. You clean up pretty well yourself."
