Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Chapter 07

Shi Yu smiled more deeply at the sight.

This person was always like this, no matter the time... Hmm... Should she say it was because she trusted people too easily?

She still remembered the first time she saw this heiress in newspapers and on TV, thinking she must be a proud and aloof woman. But after getting to know her, she realized that she just wasn't good at expressing emotions.

Her aura was cold, but her heart was warmer than anyone's.

That Chu man really had no taste. But well, thanks to his lack of vision. Shi Yu smiled, her stunningly beautiful face dazzling enough that even Feng Jin couldn't look away for a moment.

"A Jin, if you ever need anything, just say the word," Shi Yu met Feng Jin's dark eyes, lips curving into a smile. "Otherwise, I'll be heartbroken."

"Mm." Feng Jin nodded and stood up. "Don't worry about me. This situation is a bit troublesome, but I can handle it. Once we secure the deal with Kangkais Group, even if the Chu family tries to stir trouble, it won't affect the bigger picture."

"But those self-important shareholders won't let you off so easily."

"It's fine. I'll make them shut up," Feng Jin replied indifferently. Those people only knew how to talk but couldn't actually do anything. Ignoring them was enough.

After Shi Yu's deliberately mischievous actions earlier, the last bit of gloom in Feng Jin's heart faded, and she felt much clearer.

Chu Mingyu had once been a rare source of warmth in her life, someone she truly wanted to spend her life with. The feelings were pure at the beginning, but later that warmth became tainted by ulterior motives.

Previously, with too many business matters to handle, she hadn't had the time to process those complicated feelings and had just suppressed them. But reality was reality. Feng Jin had to face and accept it, then continue doing what she needed to do.

Blame it on how fickle the human heart can be, catching one off guard.

Feng Jin took a deep breath and said to Shi Yu, who stood in front of her, "I need to head to the office. Do you have any plans?"

"Not really. Anywhere I go becomes a hassle. The media reporters are absolutely everywhere," Shi Yu replied with some helplessness. She looked up at Feng Jin and blinked. "Why don't I go with you?"

"I'm going to be busy and might not be able to take care of you."

"No worries, just let me nap in your CEO office." Shi Yu raised a brow. "In exchange, this superstar will be your chauffeur for the day. How's that?"

And so, Feng Jin got into a very eye-catching red Lamborghini and sat in the passenger seat.

The flashy red sports car stopped right in front of Sheng'an Group's office building, attracting countless stares. When Feng Jin stepped out, people thought the owner of the car must be a dashing man. But when they saw Shi Yu in oversized sunglasses, everyone froze.

Shi Yu smiled, took off her sunglasses, and drew collective gasps.

"That's... Shi Yu!"

Soon, someone recognized her and started to approach.

Feng Jin's expression turned cold. Without a word, she pulled Shi Yu into the building.

Inside the lobby, the employees forgot to greet their boss, their eyes glued to Shi Yu in a daze.

Only when Feng Jin and Shi Yu entered the private elevator did they snap out of it.

"Was that... Shi Yu?! In the flesh!"

"Ahh! She looks even better than on TV!" The receptionist clutched her face with a star-struck expression.

"Didn't the media say Shi Yu was filming in Hollywood?"

"Media always talks crap! Ahhh~ My goddess is so beautiful!"

"I want to have her babies!!!"

"Women can't have babies with women..." a quiet voice reminded the fangirl next to him. "It goes against natural biology..."

"Shut up! Let me fantasize, will you?!"

"..."

"D*mn!" Another male colleague scratched his head in regret. "I forgot to ask for an autograph!!!"

"Did you not see the freezing aura coming from the boss?" another calmly reminded.

"Wait... the CEO was just here?"

"...Seems like it."

"..."

The employees snapped back to their senses and scrambled back to work, silently worrying whether their paychecks might be docked next month.

The elevator reached the 21st floor. As Feng Jin stepped out, she saw Jiang Suliu holding a stack of documents.

Jiang Suliu paused, then asked, "President, are you feeling alright?"

"I'm fine." Feng Jin glanced at the documents. "What are those?"

"Documents from each department that need your signature."

"Send them to my office."

"Understood, President."

As they left, Shi Yu looked back at Jiang Suliu. Why did that face seem so familiar?

They walked through a stylish corridor, with greenery providing a pleasing view. When the CEO office door opened, Shi Yu looked around and remarked, "You really put effort into decorating this place."

"My father did it."

"Uncle is a complicated man."

Feng Jin looked at the curtains billowing from the breeze by the floor-to-ceiling windows, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "Yeah, I suppose."

Shi Yu sat on the soft couch and looked up to see Jiang Suliu entering with the documents. Her eyes narrowed slightly.

The entertainment industry was full of all kinds of people, but this man exuded a coolness that wasn't affected or pretentious—it was innate. Every move carried a sense of refinement. This kind of aura couldn't be taught by ordinary families.

Even veteran actors couldn't replicate the natural pride of a true aristocrat. But this man, even if he tried to hide it, couldn't escape her seasoned eyes.

So, that's why A Jin didn't suspect he was sent by another company?

Someone like that would never allow themselves to be used as a pawn.

With that thought, Shi Yu dropped the matter, walked over to the bookshelf, and picked up a book.

This was her first time visiting Feng Jin's company. Back then, she was just a struggling B-list actress, running around on sets, too busy to rest—and without the right to do so.

Later, she made a name for herself, started her own company, and no longer had to live under others' shadows. During that time, Feng Jin had secretly helped her many times. Did Shi Yu not know?

She smiled, tilted her head, and looked at Feng Jin signing documents at her desk.

They say men are most attractive when focused. Feng Jin's serious expression, elegant profile, and the tailored black suit hugging her figure exuded an almost ascetic allure. The breeze lifted the curtains, and scattered sunlight bathed her in warmth.

Yet, when it came to love, she was too single-minded. That scumbag Chu Mingyu had really done something unforgivable.

A flicker of coldness flashed through Shi Yu's eyes.

After spacing out for a bit, she continued reading, but soon felt drowsy. She curled up on the couch with a soft pillow and dozed off.

When Feng Jin looked up after finishing the documents, she saw Shi Yu asleep on the couch. She got up, walked over, and gently patted her shoulder.

Shi Yu slowly opened her eyes, unfocused. "...A Jin?"

"It's uncomfortable here and you might catch a cold. There's a bed in the rest area behind the bookshelf."

"...Mm." Shi Yu mumbled and went quiet again.

Feng Jin sighed, went to the rest area, and came back with a blanket to cover her. Then she returned to her desk to continue signing the pile of documents.

The company had a lot going on, and her two-day trip meant all the paperwork had piled up. Even though Jiang Suliu had handled part of it, these were still files needing her final review and signature.

Feng Jin rubbed her temples, her head aching slightly.

A knock sounded.

"Come in."

Jiang Suliu entered. Seeing Feng Jin gesture for silence, he paused and then approached. Because of the close distance, he could faintly smell the gentle scent on her, likely from her bath. Jiang Suliu steadied himself and said, "President, the meeting in fifteen minutes is in Conference Room 2."

"Understood." Feng Jin signed the last document and looked up. "Distribute these to each department."

"Yes, President." Jiang Suliu picked up the stack, and as he was about to leave, he turned back. "President, the receptionist said a Miss Tang Yiyun is here to see you."

"Who?"

"Mr. Chu's current girlfriend."

Feng Jin frowned. She had seen the woman once before—in Chu Mingyu's private apartment bed. She barely remembered her name.

"Tang Yiyun? Isn't she the one who got famous from that dumb drama recently?" a lazy voice chimed in.

Feng Jin looked up to see Shi Yu sitting up, chin resting on one hand and smiling. "A Jin, letting her cause a scene outside the company isn't ideal. The media could go wild. Let her in—I want to meet her."

"Waste of time," Feng Jin replied flatly. "Go back to sleep. After the meeting, I'll take you to eat."

She retrieved the meeting materials from the drawer.

"A Jin," just as Feng Jin was about to leave, Shi Yu hugged her from behind and whispered, "Don't treat me like a child~"

"Don't be ridiculous. Scandals won't do you any good and will only drag you into a mess," Feng Jin gently pried her hands off and turned around. "I'm fine. You should trust me."

Shi Yu saw her resolve and said, "Then I'll wait for you. I want the food that French chef made last time."

"Mm."

The meeting room was on the 19th floor.

As Feng Jin stepped out of the elevator, she was blocked by a well-dressed, handsome man. Her eyes narrowed.

"A Jin, long time no see."

"Mr. Chu," Feng Jin stared at him impassively, "the conference room is that way."

"I just wanted to see you," Chu Mingyu said, eyes filled with complex emotion. "I know I wronged you, but I..."

When Feng Jin didn't respond, he tried to place a hand on her shoulder.

At that moment, someone stepped out to block his action.

"Mr. Chu, this is a company. Such improper behavior does not suit your status." Jiang Suliu stood between them, shielding Feng Jin from Chu Mingyu's view. His words were polite, even gentle. "Miss Tang Yiyun would surely be upset if she saw this."

From where Feng Jin couldn't see, Jiang Suliu's charming peach blossom eyes glared coldly at Chu Mingyu with a sharp, disdainful intensity. Even his aura turned oppressive, completely at odds with his courteous tone.

Chu Mingyu froze, instinctively demanding, "Who are you?!"

Jiang Suliu's lips curved slightly in a polite smile.

"I'm just the president's secretary."
