Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Assassination

"I'm going to go catch a test Zombie," Zhang Ding Tian said, and immediately left.

After a short while, Zhang Ding Tian threw a Zombie onto the ground and casually tossed an energy crystal into its mouth.

A few people stared at the Zombie.

After a long time, the Zombie showed no reaction.

Zhang Ding Tian and Bai Xue secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Lu Yin calmly said, "One isn't enough to prove anything, let's catch a few more and try."

Zhang Ding Tian nodded and ordered his men to catch more Zombies.

Half an hour later, a total of over fifty Zombies were brought in, bound. Zhang Ding Tian individually put over fifty energy crystals into their mouths.

Roar!

Suddenly, a Zombie roared softly, its face contorted in pain, its blood-red eyes fixed on Zhang Ding Tian. On its body, an indistinct energy tore its skin open, and then with a thump, its entire body exploded.

Aside from this one Zombie, the rest showed no changes.

Dean Lian looked at this scene in shock. "The energy crystals have a reaction with individual Zombies. The appearance of a reaction proves that this path of evolution is feasible."

Lu Yin looked at the shredded flesh on the ground. The image of Silver and that blood-red vertical eye suddenly appeared in his mind. Even now, remembering it made his scalp tingle, and he didn't dare to take it out.

"This matter must be kept strictly confidential, absolutely not to be known by others," Bai Xue said coldly, then looked at Lu Yin.

Lu Yin calmly said, "It seems the planet's evolution isn't as simple as imagined. Zombies are clearly also members of evolution. Could it be that they are also qualified to participate in the trials?"

"Zombies have no intelligence," Bai Xue said.

Lu Yin laughed, "No intelligence? Impossible."

Zhang Ding Tian immediately ordered everyone outside the city to return to the city. He decided to use the remaining hot weapons to bombard the Zombies. Zombies couldn't turn back into humans, and now that they knew they could evolve, they couldn't be left alone, especially the fact that they could absorb supernatural energy crystals to gain powerful strength was intolerable.

Dean Lian agreed. The number of Zombies was too large. Even if one out of tens of thousands of Zombies successfully evolved, it would be terrifying. That kind of supernatural power was not something ordinary people could resist. Just look at Bai Xue; in fact, if it weren't for her Ice-Cold talent, she might not have been Paris's opponent. It was precisely because of her Ice-Cold talent that she easily killed Paris and controlled Granny. This was the terrifying nature of talent.

At night, thunderous explosions erupted outside the capital city.

Lu Yin looked up, and a missile fell outside the city, sweeping across the ground.

Zombies weren't scary; what was scary was their numbers. This was a common understanding among everyone, and hot weapons were the best way to deal with numbers.

The bombardment lasted only about two minutes before ending. Lu Yin was puzzled; the capital shouldn't have so few hot weapons left.

Just as Lu Yin decided to continue looking up at the starry sky, a figure flew towards Lu Yin's dwelling from the sky. Lu Yin looked over and was surprised to find it was Bai Xue.

This woman, whose aesthetics were unfathomable, had always disliked him. What did she want with him late at night?

Lu Yin watched the moving silhouette under the moonlight approach. He certainly wouldn't mind putting a green hat on Liu Shaoge (cuckolding!).

Bai Xue landed at Lu Yin's dwelling, and upon seeing Lu Yin, she subtly let out a breath.

Lu Yin was curious. "Something wrong?"

Granny came out of the room, looking strangely at Bai Xue.

Bai Xue calmly said, "Nothing, just passing by."

Lu Yin was speechless. "Are you sure?"

Bai Xue pondered, then calmly said, "All the hot weapon launch personnel are dead, and all hot weapons have been destroyed and cannot be used."

Lu Yin was shocked. "Who did it?"

Bai Xue stared at Lu Yin, saying nothing.

Lu Yin found it amusing. "So you rushed over to confirm my alibi."

"I hope it wasn't you, otherwise, we won't let you off," Bai Xue said coldly.

Lu Yin was curious. "You seem to be very wary of me. Why?"

Bai Xue didn't answer and turned to leave.

"Wait a moment, since you're here, you can't leave so easily," Lu Yin lightly stepped and appeared beside Bai Xue, reaching out to grab Bai Xue's hair. Bai Xue's eyes turned icy, and an extreme cold energy emanated from her body, sweeping towards Lu Yin. Lu Yin's right hand shook, pushing away the cold energy, and continued to reach for Bai Xue.

A layer of hard ice suddenly appeared before Bai Xue's eyes, reflecting light under the moonlight.

Lu Yin slammed his palm onto the ice, shattering it, but by this time, Bai Xue had moved several meters away, watching him warily.

Lu Yin shrugged. "Just kidding."

"Not funny," Bai Xue said coldly.

"You broke into my house late at night and threatened me, that's not funny either," Lu Yin's tone was somewhat cold.

Bai Xue's eyes flickered. "Sorry," she said, then flew into the air, leaving behind a lingering scent.

Lu Yin looked at the sky. Who destroyed the hot weapons after all? Didn't they want the zombie tide to be bombarded?

Granny looked admiringly at Bai Xue's departing back, sighing, "Every time I see her, I'm amazed. This woman truly lives up to Chu Shan's description of her as the Goddess of Luo River. Purely in terms of appearance, she's comparable to the Star-Gazing Maiden."

"Star-Gazing Maiden?" Lu Yin was puzzled.

Granny looked up at the starry sky, longing in her voice. "The Star-Gazing Maiden is one of the most beautiful women in the starry sky. Rumor has it she can stroll through the starry sky and often appears in trial grounds, only to seek out fated individuals. There are also legends that she can predict the future. From afar, she is the dream of countless people in the starry sky."

Lu Yin was speechless. "You're a woman, and she's your dream too?"

Granny scornfully looked at Lu Yin. "She's my idol. I heard she comes from a top-tier, mysterious sect in the Inner Universe. Any random disciple from that sect could sweep through the younger generation of the Grand Yu Empire, and the Star-Gazing Maiden even ascended the Starry Sky Battle Board. She..." At this point, Granny stopped, pouting. "I tell you, you wouldn't understand anyway. Alright, time to sleep."

Lu Yin didn't care about Granny's talk of the vast universe, where even small matters could be exaggerated into wonders, and predicting the future, and seeing from afar – there was no such person. Thinking this, Lu Yin looked up at the night sky, and in his right hand, two stars appeared to revolve, and faintly, a third star emerged.

The hot weapon bombardment of the zombie tide temporarily stopped. Lu Yin didn't know how Zhang Ding Tian and his team were handling it, and he didn't care. He looked at his personal connection interface; the second batch of trial participants would arrive in about 40 days, which was soon.

The 100,000 evolved individuals from the Hua Camp left the city in batches, under Zhang Ding Tian's orders. They didn't need to face mutated beasts, only to kill Zombies.

This task wasn't difficult. For evolved individuals, Zombies were much easier to kill than mutated beasts.

On the steel city wall, Zhang Ding Tian and Bai Xue stood.

"Even emptying the Zombies around the capital is just a drop in the ocean," Bai Xue said helplessly, looking at the large-scale departure of the Hua Camp army.

Zhang Ding Tian said in a deep voice, "It's better than doing nothing. I've already sent people to Jinling, Hubei is so vast, to report the situation to them and ask them to exert all their efforts to eliminate Zombies and prevent uncontrollable factors from appearing."

Upon mentioning Hubei, Bai Xue's eyes flickered. "Is he doing well?"

Zhang Ding Tian looked at Bai Xue and calmly said, "I don't know."

Bai Xue fell silent.

The Zombie clearing was going smoothly. The 100,000 evolved individuals from the Hua Camp could eliminate nearly 2 million Zombies every day. In just a few days, the area around the capital became much emptier. Countless Zombies were slaughtered and burned, and thick smoke billowed around the entire capital, emitting a pungent odor.

West of the capital, at the hot weapon launch site, Zhang Ding Tian returned here again. He had been investigating the culprit for the past few days but hadn't found them. The killer's method was clean, a single strike to kill. The entire garrison of over five hundred people died in total less than a minute. The killing speed was extremely fast.

"Do you think it was that Lu Yin?" Bai Xue asked from afar.

"Didn't you already confirm it?" Zhang Ding Tian said in a deep voice, his eyes scanning the ground.

Bai Xue pursed her lips. "It's best to quickly establish contact with Jinling. This Lu Yin's identity is mysterious. I feel, I feel he's an alien disciple."

Zhang Ding Tian looked at Bạch Tuyết. "So what if he is? This world can be divided into allies and enemies; there's no need to divide by race. Earth no longer has the right to distinguish by race."

Bai Xue's eyes dimmed, and she said nothing.

Zhang Ding Tian turned and walked towards the interior. As soon as he opened the large door, a white light flashed, swiftly slicing towards Zhang Ding Tian's neck. Zhang Ding Tian's pupils contracted. Thinking quickly, he instantly turned to dodge, but even so, his neck was still left with a bleeding cut.

Below the white light, the silver-haired man's lips curled into an evil arc. The butterfly knife once again stabbed towards Zhang Ding Tian. Zhang Dibg Tian drew his long saber, blocking it in front of him. The butterfly knife, with a strange arc, dodged the long saber and approached Zhang Ding Tian's eyes. That strike was intended to blind Zhang Ding Tian.

As the butterfly knife approached, Zhang Ding Tian not only didn't close his eyes but instead looked down, and his body's energy erupted, causing the butterfly knife to pause for a moment. The long saber swept horizontally, and a massive cleaving strike formed a visible blade energy that cut the garrison in half, even splitting the ground.
