I turned and looked at my hand. Dr. Lu followed my gaze, realizing he was still holding it. Startled, he quickly let go and cleared his throat. "Miss Qin, you haven't received your medical prescription yet," he said, then walked over to his table.
"Ah—right," I murmured, slightly dazed. I followed him and waited patiently as he wrote the prescription.
He handed it to me. "Take the medicine twice a day. If it runs out, feel free to come back and ask me for more."
I nodded, flustered. "Okay, Doctor..."
Just as I turned to leave, I heard his voice again. "Miss Qin—wait."
I froze, heart skipping, and turned around. "Is there… something else, Dr. Lu?"
He looked a little nervous. "Could you… give me your phone number?"
I blinked, caught off guard. "W-Why?" I asked shyly, cheeks warming.
He rubbed the back of his neck, his ears faintly red. "Don't take it the wrong way, Miss Qin. I just thought… if you experience any symptoms or need advice, you can message me directly instead of making a full appointment. Also, if there's any improvement in your condition, I can inform you right away."
Relieved—and secretly a little thrilled—I nodded and handed him my number. "Alright then," I said softly.
I took the prescription, smiled, and gently closed the door behind me.
Outside, I pressed a hand to my chest. My heart was racing, and I couldn't understand why. I walked out of the hospital in a daze, still trying to process what had just happened.
Meanwhile, inside the room, Dr. Lu saved my number into his phone. A small smile crept onto his face as he stared at the screen, replaying the moment.
Just then, a nurse opened the door, holding some medical files. She paused, watching him with a knowing look as she placed the reports on his table.
"Dr. Lu… why are you smiling like that? Did something good happen?"
Startled, he looked up. "Do I… look happy?"
She chuckled. "Yeah. You used to be so cold all the time, but today you're glowing. Don't tell me—you fell in love? Who is it?"
Dr. Lu's eyes widened, like she had read his mind. He looked away quickly and muttered, "It's nothing… I'm just… in a good mood."
The nurse laughed as she walked out. Left alone, Dr. Lu looked at his phone again, and smiled to himself.
