Amelia understood, "What? You want to keep it?"
She glanced at the dog by her feet.
"This dog seems to have some problems with its personality since retiring. Maybe you should take a look first?"
Amelia advised.
Sophia nodded after hearing this.
When the car passed a large supermarket, Sophia stopped. There wasn't much food at home to serve Amelia.
After stopping the car, Amelia stayed with the dog while Sophia went inside alone. She bought a lot of snacks: chips, spicy sticks, cookies, beef jerky, soda, and some braised dishes. She also bought some treats, dog food, and toys for the dog.
"Why did you buy so much?"
Amelia saw Sophia carrying a big load with both hands full.
"It's been a long time since we met. We should have a good time!"
Last time, Amelia came in a hurry because of something. Now that they finally met, of course, Sophia wanted to treat her well.
After driving for half an hour, they finally arrived home.
Amelia saw several people working nearby and asked, "What are they doing here?"
Just casually asking, Sophia explained that she planned to expand the pig farm. She wanted to build a warehouse and also a bigger, more comfortable house because the current one was old.
If you have money, you should enjoy life!
Almost one or two hundred million, plus yearly interest, was enough for Sophia to live better than 95% of people in this world.
Amelia was surprised: "This big land all belongs to your family? Sophia, your family is really rich landowners!"
Sophia waved her hand, "Land in the countryside isn't valuable."
It was a bit hot outside. Sophia took Amelia to a room she had prepared earlier.
"You rest here first. I'll cook some mung bean soup for you to drink later."
The house's rooms had been partly renovated by Sophia, but the kitchen still used a stove and a small burner. The gas stove was broken.
Compared to the stove and burner, Sophia was more afraid to use the gas stove.
The kitchen wasn't very convenient. Sophia simply cooked two bowls of noodles, cleaned the pot, and then made mung bean soup.
When Sophia brought out the noodles, Amelia tied the dog to a pillar in the pigsty and stood by the low wall, watching the little pigs sleep soundly inside.
"Cute, right?"
When Sophia first started in animal farming, she was a little scared of animals.
Later, she found the animals' cute side, especially pigs. She liked pigs very much. The more she saw them, the cuter they seemed. Not like the usual saying, "pigs are dumb." Instead, pigs were quite smart.
Amelia turned and smiled, "Pink and soft, they really are cute. You keep this place clean."
Taking the noodles from Sophia, they walked inside together. The dog lay under the pigsty, chewing a bone. When it saw them walking in, it stood up quickly.
Seeing they weren't going out, the dog lay down again.
Sophia looked back and saw this: "This dog is quite smart! Looks a bit like a shepherd dog. Do you know the breed?"
"Looks like a German Shepherd, but maybe a Kunming dog."
Many people know German Shepherds, but fewer know about Kunming dogs. This breed is more used in military and police work. It looks different from German Shepherds because it has a "four eyes" mark on its face.
"What's its name?"
Sophia asked.
"Seems like they just call him Four-Eyes."
Sophia smiled, "That's such a careless nickname."
The two of them laughed and went inside.
Because Sophia's family still had six boxes of gold, silver, and jewelry hidden, she wanted to ask Amelia more about people in this business.
These big players had strong capital, knew how to tell real from fake, and didn't make crazy low offers. The risk of being targeted was also lower.
"Even though I graduated only a year or two ago, I've been following Professor Zhou since graduate school, so I've seen a lot."
"Take Professor Zhou for example, last time he transferred so much money to you at once, did it surprise you?"
Sophia nodded, it really did.
Even for a company, it's not easy to quickly get six million transferred like that.
Usually, even rich people don't have that much cash flow.
"In this business, most people pass their skills down from generation to generation. They come from wealthy families. Some might not appear on rich lists, but their family wealth far surpasses those at the top."
In short, there are really many rich people in this world.
Those who can afford antiques have deep pockets.
Amelia suddenly remembered something and laughed, "When I first joined the school, the professor's first lesson was to keep a low profile outside. If trouble comes, never mention his name. You might not affect his academic reputation, but you could ruin his career in education."
Sophia and Amelia burst out laughing.
Professor Zhou was famous outside, but there were always people better than him.
They chatted about all kinds of gossip, with the TV playing quietly in the background. After finishing their noodles, they munched on chips and beef jerky, talking enthusiastically.
From Amelia, Sophia learned that there were basically two or three ways to buy antiques: one was to hunt for goods on antique streets, which only poor people would try their luck at; the other, for wealthy people, was auctions.
Sophia would never go to antique streets. The items she had were all guaranteed authentic.
Those gold ingots were real gold and could be sold for forty to fifty million.
She checked the pieces carefully; there were no special marks.
As for the jewelry, it was unclear if they counted as antiques. When they opened the first box, Professor Zhou couldn't tell what dynasty they were from, but the craftsmanship was delicate and the materials valuable.
They talked all afternoon. In the middle, they called the aunties working outside to come in for some mung bean soup.
After dinner and washing up, seeing Amelia's tired face, Sophia didn't bother her with more talking.
Alone in her room, Sophia finally took out the letter and opened the boxes again. She found a clue from the letter and a gold plaque inside a box.
"Zhaoguo, Chudi?"
"Are these two the same place?"
She took out her phone and searched online.
She found out that Zhaoguo briefly appeared in history. Its emperor was young but brave and skilled in battle, with many talented generals and good at using them. He was expected to spread his flag all over the Western Continent.
But he caught a serious illness at a young age. Later, court officials fought each other, and Zhaoguo quickly fell.
Sophia saw a comment below that said if Emperor Wenxuan of Zhaoguo hadn't died young, maybe they wouldn't need to struggle learning other countries' languages now.
