Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Home or an Armory?

Lemuel: "Nanashi is really strong! He can discharge electricity and even fly! Picture attached"

March 7th: "Whoa! What does flying feel like?"

Lemuel: "Super cool!"

Aqua: "Hmph! This goddess can fly too!"

March 7th: "Really?"

Aqua: "Ahem... it's too late to demonstrate now."

March 7th: "Uh..."

Saeko: "Lemuel, Nanashi-kun, thank you both for your help."

Lemuel: "Haha, no big deal. Those corpses are gross, but they're not that strong. I can take them down one by one."

Lemuel: "The only issue is ammo. I don't have much left."

Nanashi: "You might want to use conventional firearms. They're effective against the undead and don't require Originium Arts."

The Angel's Gun.

Even though it looked like a firearm, it was actually a staff-like weapon that channeled Originium Arts.

Etched bullets, imbued with Originium techniques, could deliver devastating attacks.

But against mindless corpses, ordinary guns were more than sufficient.

And if all went as expected, Shizuka's friend's house was nothing short of a small arsenal.

Lemuel: "A gun that's more like a musket? Sounds interesting! I'm looking forward to it!"

Something else came to mind—Nanashi wanted to warn Saeko.

Nanashi: "@Saeko."

Saeko: "What is it, Nanashi-kun?"

Nanashi: "Saeko, there's something I need to remind you of."

Nanashi: "Don't trust strangers too easily. And make sure your friends aren't too naïve—especially Shizuka."

She had nearly agreed to Shido Koichi's suggestion earlier.

Anyone with half a brain could see there was something off about that guy.

Saeko: "I understand. If I encounter someone like Shido Koichi again, I won't hesitate—I'll kill him, just like you did. I'll also be stricter with Shizuka-sensei and the others."

Nanashi: "Good."

He didn't mind saintly women.

What he despised were sanctimonious fools.

A true saint was willing to sacrifice herself for others.

A self-righteous idiot, on the other hand, only made life harder for those around her.

There was a fundamental difference.

Before long, the jeep came to a stop in front of their destination.

Exhausted, Rei had fallen asleep along the way.

Since she was sitting next to Nanashi, her head had naturally ended up resting on his shoulder.

Nanashi remained still, eyes closed, seemingly unbothered.

"We're here!"

Shizuka turned to inform the group, but when she noticed Rei leaning on Nanashi, a strange glint flickered in her eyes.

Nanashi opened his eyes.

Rei stirred and soon realized her position.

"...!"

She jolted upright, her face heating up.

"S-Sorry! I must've dozed off by accident!"

"It's fine," Nanashi replied, unfazed.

It was such a minor thing—nothing worth fussing over.

He stepped out of the jeep.

Rei, trailing behind him, found herself staring at his back.

Her heart skipped a beat.

That warmth… that sense of security…

She quickly shook her head, brushing off the ridiculous thoughts before catching up.

As they entered Shizuka's friend's home, the group was met with an astonishing sight.

"???"

Saya stood frozen, staring at the stacks of crates filled with firearms, bullets, and grenades.

A giant question mark practically hovered over her head.

"...This is the 'weapon supply' you were talking about?"

She turned to Shizuka, her voice rising in disbelief.

"Are you sure your friend's house isn't a damn weapons depot?!"

"Hmm..."

Shizuka tilted her head, her expression blank as she mumbled, "These all belong to my best friend, Rika."

"...!"

So your friend is basically an arms dealer?!

Saya was screaming internally.

Meanwhile, Lemuel picked up a gun and examined it with curiosity.

After a few moments, she let out an impressed whistle.

"This isn't just a gun. Incredible."

Nanashi turned to the others.

"Take a break for now. Saya, keep trying to contact your parents. Lemuel, Saeko—come with me."

With that, he led the two out of the room.

The three remaining women exchanged glances.

"They seem really close," Shizuka mused with a hint of envy.

Saya sighed, rubbing her temples.

"I have no idea how Saeko-senpai even knows those two... they're just so different from normal people."

Before, Saeko had only relied on swordsmanship. That was skill, not superpowers.

Now? It felt like she was stepping into a whole different world.

"…"

Rei on the other hand lowered her gaze toward the closed door, lost in thought.
