Cherreads

Chapter 2 - What I could give to have her.

"The scanning report is done. It was the malnutrition, " I confirmed to her. "Please follow me to my office, and I'll process the paperwork." I started walking back towards my office, feeling myself release the breath I'd been holding when I heard the click of her heels on the marble floor following me.

I glanced at the windows that lined the corridor and saw both Joey and Dan watching.

They were probably wondering why I was taking her to my office and not just handling it at the front desk.

I wanted her in my space.

Maybe when we were in my small office, I could finally catch a faint scent of her perfume.

I gestured for her to sit down when we reached my office, and I closed the door behind her.

Then I drew the blinds on the window that looked out into the main department so no one could see us. Just her and me now.

Taking my seat at my desk, I watched as she fiddled with the trim of her hospital gown in her lap.

Her pink nail polish was perfectly done, and as I watched her fingers play with the edge of the gown, all I could think about was lifting her gown to see if her underwear matched.

She looked so out of place in here. Just like most of the department, my office was a complete mess. I never bothered with a nice desk or chairs because they'd be stained in two weeks.

Everything was worn and old, so I didn't worry about it getting messed up.

The contrast between her and the room was another reminder that she'd never be with someone like me.

Even if I made just as good a living as a high-end specialist, it was still all about appearances to people like her.

I might match their bank accounts, but I sure as hell didn't belong in her social circle.

"It is malnutrition, poor eating habits, irregular habits at that," I told her as I started to fill out the patient discharge form.

I should have found something else wrong and made sure she stayed at the hospital a little longer.

"But I wouldn't go too far for a while." The lie slipped off my tongue easily, but I didn't feel a moment of guilt about it. "Stay close to town, I mean." I raised my eyebrows at her to gauge her reaction.

"Oh, I'm in town indefinitely." The way she said it made it clear she wasn't happy about it.

She didn't look like she belonged around here, seeing as there wasn't much to this small town. If you wanted something sophisticated, you had to make the two-hour drive into Atlanta.

"It's 250$ for the scanning and vitamin supplements as well as the labor."

Without hesitating, she reached into her designer purse and pulled out a silver American Express card.

"We don't take those." I don't know why, but I didn't tell her that we took other cards, just not Amex. I was letting her draw her own conclusions.

"It's all I have with me unless I can quickly run to an ATM or something." She started to rise from the chair as if leaving.

"Sorry, no ATM nearby, and the finance department is closed. I'm closing up the clinic for the night, so I need to get paid." I lied again just as easily as before.

The lies kept slipping from me, but I wanted to see her again. Maybe if I could get her back here tomorrow, I could come up with a game plan to make a move on her, or at least find out who she was and why she was here. Everyone knew everything in a small town like this.

She plopped back down into the chair. "But—"

I cut her off. "Just come back in the morning with the payment." I stood up and walked to the door as if I was going to leave, but she stopped me.

"I need access to my patient's records tonight. I still have a few tasks I need to complete. I have plans."

I paused at the door, turning to look at her. She was still sitting in the chair, staring up at me.

Her eyes were pleading, as if she was trying to get me to crack with a pout on her full lips.

My eyes moved to her chest and lingered there, and it made her breathing quicken.

It gave me an opening, and I was going to take it. I strolled back over to the front of my desk and sat on the edge in front of her, my legs almost touching hers.

"You could settle up the bill with something else." My eyes roamed her body, and I let my meaning become clear.

I don't know what made me say it, but the words were out of my mouth before I could pull them back.

I expected her to stand up and slap me, or to storm out of the office, but she just wiggled in her chair a little.

"Wh-what do..." She couldn't even get the words out, and I didn't make her finish, because I was impatient. If she wasn't running, then I was going to push a little more.

"Lift up your gown. I want to see your panties."

Her face turned red, but she grabbed the hem of her gown as if she was going to do it.

But instead, she just bunched it in her hands, her knuckles going white.

Was she really this shy? Nobody who looked like her, who was dressed like that, was shy. She was a rich duchess coming into a place like this and practically asking for it.

Screw it, if she wanted to play shy, I'd help her out.

Leaning forward, I grabbed her by the arms, her soft skin was like silk against my fingers.

I pulled her to me so her legs went on either side of my large thighs as I stayed seated on the edge of the desk. She let out a squeak in response but made no move to stop me. Interesting. I had no idea this would be so easy.

Reaching down with my ink-stained hand, I flipped her gown up, revealing white satin panties.

Her legs were spread just enough that I could see a little wet spot.

Damn.

She was turned on, and I hadn't even done anything to her.

The sight had my body responding against the zipper of my scrubs, and I welcomed the discomfort. Because it stopped me from... well, you know.

"Hold it," I said, indicating that I wanted her to hold up her gown for me. I needed my hand for this.

"But I showed you. Now give me the records."

"That was for the sensor, the materials. This next part is for the labor." I licked my lips just thinking about the next part.

God, what I'd give to bury my face between her thighs and make her scream my name. I'd make her tell everyone who was giving it to her.

That she was engaging with the local doctor. Not some preppy jerk in a suit, which I was sure was what she was used to.
