Chapter 8 - CHAPTER SEVEN: The Memory That Opened the Lock

The storm had passed, but peace never truly followed. The night wrapped the abandoned church in stillness, but that stillness was not comfort—it was warning. The world outside was quiet—too quiet. Inside, Jason and Venessa were curled beneath thin blankets, bodies still, faces calm only on the surface. The faint ticking of an old wall clock echoed in the hollow chamber, but louder than all of it was the breath of one man—Alexander. Awake. Watchful. Changed.

He couldn't sleep. Couldn't close his eyes without seeing her again—without feeling something ancient stirring in his bones. His gaze never left the shadowed corner of the church, where the briefcase sat like a relic of judgment. Weeks had passed. They trained. They bled. They suffered. They grew stronger. But the briefcase—still it refused to open. Silent. Closed. Untouched by time.

Until now.

Alexander rose without a sound, feet pressing gently against the cracked stone. He walked toward the briefcase with a breathless sense of fate. He knelt before it slowly, as if bowing before something divine or dangerous. A single beam of moonlight broke through the stained glass and touched the metal, and in that moment—it pulsed. A soft red glow. Warm. Alive.

Alexander's heart skipped.

He reached forward, fingertips hovering.

ALEXANDER (softly):

"What are you…?"

"What am I…?"

The moment his skin touched the case—

FLASH.

🕯️ VISION – HIS PAST LIFE

A battlefield of ash stretched to the edge of the horizon. The sky was soaked in blood-red fire. The wind carried screams. The world was war.

Alexander stood in the center—armor cracked, eyes glowing, breath heavy. And in front of him… her.

She was trembling, her dress soaked in blood, starlight flickering in her tearful eyes. She reached out as if the space between them would crush her.

GIRL (pleading):

"Don't die for me... please…"

Alexander stepped forward. His voice cracked with pain, but burned with purpose.

PAST ALEXANDER:

"I told you in every life… I'll protect you.

Even if I have to die again."

Behind him, a younger Jason screamed across the chaos, swords drawn, desperation in his voice—

PAST JASON:

"ALEX! NO—NOT AGAIN!"

But it was too late.

A monstrous demon rose from behind the flames, raising its colossal blade.

Alexander turned. Leapt.

And took the hit.

Blood. Light. Silence.

BACK TO THE PRESENT

Alexander gasped, falling backward, hands shaking, eyes wide with a thousand memories he never asked for. He crawled back from the briefcase, breath caught in his throat.

ALEXANDER (whispering):

"I... I remember her."

"I remember dying. For her."

The briefcase clicked.

And then—it opened.

Inside were two divine axes—crafted from obsidian-like metal, engraved with glowing red runes that pulsed like a heartbeat. The air changed. Power filled the room.

Jason jolted awake. Venessa sat up instantly.

JASON:

"What happened?!"

VENESSA:

"What did you do?"

Alexander said nothing. He didn't need to.

He stood. Lifted the axes like they were a part of him. His eyes burned with light.

ALEXANDER (quiet but certain):

"I think… I remember who I was."

⚔️ Jason's Awakening & the Hidden Truth

The glow from Alexander's weapons still danced in the shadows when Jason's eyes fell to the other half of the briefcase—the side that had never budged. Now, it clicked. Slowly. Opened with a sigh like ancient breath.

Inside: two black-and-silver ghost-forged swords, humming with a light that wasn't of this world. Jason stared. The markings across the blades pulsed like veins of memory. He reached out. Touched the hilt.

And the world changed.

🕯️ VISION – JASON'S PAST LIFE

Fire. A forest on fire. Trees twisted, burning. Blood soaking the ground like rain. Demons poured from the smoke.

Jason stood alone at the edge of the battlefield.

Behind him—a girl. Trembling. Crying. Her voice shattered.

GIRL:

"If you don't tell him the truth… he'll die again."

Jason turned.

Ahead—Alexander, glowing with divine light, facing down a massive demon to protect her.

The demon roared. It charged.

Alexander leapt.

Took the blow meant for Jason.

The sky cracked. The world slowed.

PAST JASON (screaming):

"NO! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!!"

GIRL (weeping):

"You betrayed him… again."

BACK TO PRESENT

Jason ripped his hand away from the swords, gasping, sweat pouring down his face. His body shook.

Alexander stepped toward him.

ALEXANDER:

"Jason? What did you see?"

Jason hesitated. His eyes wild, broken—but he smiled. It was forced.

JASON:

"Just… a memory. Nothing big."

ALEXANDER (frowning):

"You sure?"

JASON (nodding fast):

"Yeah. Just… intense."

He reached back down and lifted the swords.

They hummed instantly—light wrapping around his arms like divine chains.

They accepted him.

But inside—Jason felt the weight of guilt heavier than ever before.

GEDEON stepped forward, his voice solemn.

GEDEON:

"You both did it. The weapons recognize you."

"But now you must understand what you're holding."

Jason stayed quiet. Alexander listened.

GEDEON (cont'd):

"These weren't made by mortals.

They were forged in Heaven."

VENESSA (gasping):

"The real Heaven?"

GEDEON:

"Yes. Blessed by angels. Cursed by war.

These weapons draw power from the throne room itself."

"And the more you draw from them…

The more Heaven draws from you."

Silence.

GEDEON (darkly):

"You'll feel like gods. Stronger. Faster. Alive.

But if you pull too much—"

"You'll burn from the inside out.

You'll die.

Heaven will reclaim what's not ready."

Alexander nodded.

ALEXANDER:

"Then we train harder. We get stronger.

We get ready."

Jason looked at his blades. They whispered secrets only he could hear.

JASON (in thought):

I'll never let him die for me again.

But I can't tell him. Not yet.

👹 SCENE: "The Queen Descends" – Malekta Makes Her Move

In the Demon Realm, the throne room was aflame with power.

ZORAKH sat highest, unmoving, his presence alone shaping the will of the underworld.

Around him stood the Five:

GRIVAX, grinning, flames licking his armor

VELKOR, wrapped in soul-chains

RAZOK, chewing a blade, blood dripping from his grin

LILIVARA, sipping blood, eyes half-lidded

And MALEKTA, still and silent, holding her demon child

A massive stone shimmered in the center of the room.

Three glowing figures hovered above it—Alexander, Jason, Venessa.

GRIVAX (grinning):

"They're waking up. I can smell it. Let me burn them to stardust."

VELKOR (softly):

"Too soon. Break their minds before their bones."

RAZOK (growling):

"Cowards. I'll rip them in half now."

LILIVARA (smiling):

"Fear makes the soul taste better."

Then came the heartbeat. The realm pulsed. And Malekta stood.

Clad in red, hair like liquid blood, demon baby clutched in her arms, she spoke like silk soaked in rot.

MALEKTA:

"You forget what they did to my children… ten thousand years ago."

She stepped forward.

MALEKTA:

"I lost three legions. Three generations.

No one paid the price."

MALEKTA (whispering):

"I'll go."

GRIVAX:

"What?"

RAZOK:

"You're a queen. We send minions."

MALEKTA (softly):

"No.

This time…

I go myself."

Zorakh lifted one finger.

The portal opened.

ZORAKH:

"Make them remember what fear tastes like."

MALEKTA (smiling):

"I will not kill them quickly.

I will make them scream their past lives out of their bodies."

She kissed the demon child's head.

MALEKTA:

"Mommy's going hunting."

And vanished.

👁️ VENESSA'S VISION – The Warning

Venessa jolted up from her sleep. Her body was ice. Her mind—on fire.

She saw New York burn.

She saw blood on the Statue of Liberty.

She saw Malekta, barefoot in ash, summoning death.

Blood dripped from her nose.

ALEXANDER:

"What did you see?!"

VENESSA (terrified):

"She's here.

She's already here."

JASON (gritting his teeth):

"And she's not hiding."

VENESSA (whispering):

"She's calling for you.

Both of you."
